  1. I had considered a floor for my Basshunter but after having my boat totally swamped this weekend twice by ski boats one a large lake I have now changed my mind. On the bright side I learned my boat still floats just fine when full of water!!!!
  2. Duck foot push pole is what you need. My MK's (all 3) are useless in the weeds. I don't know when they changed them cause years ago that was there big advertising push about how they were weedless and they actually were for the most part.
  3. I believe he was anchored at the time. Can't find the video now but it was less than a year ago that it was posted. As the fish move you will see them even if the boat is not moving. 2D does better at finding the fish when they are sitting still of course.
  4. Yes you can as long as the bait is moving a little you can even watch the fish hit the bait. There is a video on youtube of a guy crappie fishing vertical jigging with a 1/32 oz jig under a bridge on the Tn River. You can watch his jig and the crappie hitting it on his Elite4. This is what sold me on these units. The fish do not show up as fish or arches on these units but as a line that moves as the fish swims though the beam. For instance you can pull up over a bait ball that will be very obvious as to what it is and watch the big fish underneath feeding on the bait. They will show up as a diagonal line as they move up from underneath to attack. Lowrance has a good tutorial on this.
  5. This!!! I have several Elite4 DSI Gps, and Elite5 DSI Gps, along with a Mark4 DSI gps units. They are amazing units for what they will show you in amazing detail. I still have a traditional sonar in each of my boats also but seldom if ever even turn them on anymore. And don't listen to people that tell you they won't show fish. Just the opposite is the truth, from the tiniest minnow to the big fish chasing that same minnow will be seen if you learn how to read what you are seeing on the screen.
  6. 1998 should be a Tracker built boat. I wouldn't be afraid of it if. The late 90's Trackers did have some weld issues with the hull framing however. Many were fixed under warranty and the biggest problem I heard about them was they rattled.
  7. While I love my BassHunter Bass Baby and have taken it out on some very large bodies of water including Ky Lake it is generally a calm water boat. It will take large boat wakes and waves with ease if you aren't moving very fast, but waves will break over the bow once you get moving along with the trolling motor on high. The Bass Tender type boats may be what you are looking for. Check Youtube for videos of the Bass Tenders running with outboard power and you will be impressed for such small craft.
  8. I love all my tin boats and have owned many glass and tin bass boats. The biggest deciding factor is pretty easy to use to make your decision. If you need to make long runs across rough water and also require speed then get the glass. If you mainly fish waters that don't get too torn up and can get from point A to point B at your leasure then the tin will work. The only possible exception to this that I can come up with would be some of the Express models.
  9. I love my state. No titles for boat, motors, or trailer.!!!!!!
  10. Marine vinyl flooring maybe?
  11. I have the HB 110 that I use on my little 8 ft Basshunter. They are great little units with good detail displays. Batteries seem to last forever in mine. The 120 will be even better. Only advise I have is don't move very fast or hit a submerged object very hard or you will break the mount.
  12. Learn about steering input to counter act chine walking. There is a long thread with a very good video somewhere on the site
  13. Elite 4 is always in DSI mode.
  14. Try moving the transducer down a little farther below the bottom of the boat. You can also change the angle a click or two. Do one change at a time until you see some imorovement. If this is an aluminum boat it will be more challenging to get a reading at higher speeds due to the disturbance of the water flowing past the hull.
  15. Most of the time the fuse panel is shoved up under the console to help keep it out of the weather. I have a hard time believing BPS would not put a fuse panel in a boat. That is an extreme safety measure to overlook that would end up with a lot of law suits from electrical fires.
  16. Tractor supply usually has several different trailer axles in stock. Shouldn't be difficult to find one that will work. No need to get the exact same axle. Width would probably be about the only major consideration other than load capacity.
  17. My only suggestion would be to go into the menu and do a restore factory defaults. This has cleared up several little issues I have had with my units in the past that I couldn't figure out on my on.
  18. I use to do it all the time when I first got into boating and carried a 14ft flatbottom in the back of a 1979 Ford Courier which is an even smaller pickup. Had to be very careful with tieing it in and always put the extra weight items in the boat up next to the cab to help hold it down.
  19. DO NOT USE pressure treated wood. PT wood and aluminum do not play well together. Use regular lumber and seal it with spar varnish or even a few good coats of Thompsons water seal. The copper used in today's PT wood will cause serious corrosion issues with the aluminum. Years ago PT wood used arsenic but that formula has been changed because of the Greenies.
  20. I have run into this myself on my units, I have 2 elite4's and 2 mark4's along with 2 elite5's. I found that switching between 800 and 455 mhz and playing with water clarity will often clear it up. Be aware these units are so sensitive they do show the plankton and other stuff in the water so some of this you have to live with.
  21. Thanks for the replies. Having never owned an inflatable before, y'all have been very helpful.
  22. I have never gotten a single bite here locally on those pink worms. You are correct about the Gopro. I record every fishing trip now since last fall. Nice to be able to go back and watch the fun adventures. I have about 60 vids posted on FB and Youtube now of fishing trips.
  23. Here is a little video of my Bass Hunter Bass Baby in action catching some gills this past weekend during a camping trip. Caught 400 mostly nice gills and some giant Redears this day.
  24. After several boating deaths in my area lately due to sudden wind storms I am thinking about buying an inflatable vest, I almost never wear my regular vest when just sitting in the boat fishing due to heat and humidity here in Tenn. My question is on the auto inflate vest do they inflate when you get caught in a sudden downpour? I have consided the manual vest but like the idea of the auto in those instances where you might be rendered unconsious or what not. Also any recommendations on brands that are comfortable to wear all day?
  25. If you are just planning on using just the pedestal base and a seat then the toggles will work fine. If you are planning on using the seat and a pole also then you will most likely need to mount a piece of Plywood or extra layer of aluminum first across the top of the bench to make the existing bench sturdy enough to take the forces.
