  1. After installing a Reese hitch on my Dodge Ram a few years back I will pay whatever it cost to have someone else install the next. Laying on the ground drilling holes in the frame and holding that heavy hitch by myself lining up bolt holes and getting them started was no fun.
  2. Do those need and come with the pressurized tanks? The tanks are getting pretty scarce and expensive! Looks like nice well cared for motors but I don't know anything about parts availability for the old Johnsons. I have 3 1940's small Mercs and when I acquired them 30 years ago parts were non-existent. Now with the advent of the web almost everything is available for them again.
  3. Go to the BassHunter site and order the correct material to repair your hull. http://www.basshunter.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3&Itemid=4
  4. Boat is probably not rated for much more than 5hp. Let the rating be your guide.
  5. Best way to rebuild an outboard is to mess with the throttle linkage not knowing what you are doing. This from someone who found out the hard way fooling with a 115 tower of power many years ago. Get a manual or take it to someone who knows what they are doing.
  6. I have 2 regular fishing boats plus a 8 ft BassHunter. Lately the BassHunter has gotten the most use since it fits in my Toyhauler camper and always goes with me camping. Making two trips to go get a real boat is just too time consuming and expensive. I have probably caught as many if not more fish using this little rig.
  7. I'm going with you need to take it back. You can definitely get a bad battery from time to time. My Wallyworld Group 27 will run my 45lb MK all day no issue. My group 29 is good for 2 days in most cases if the wind isn't too bad. How was the wind on this day, that can make a very big difference especially with a jon boat.
  8. The only boats that have ballast are top of the line modern wakeboard type boats and giant sea going vessels.. I am sure your old tri-hull ski boat does not have a ballast tank. Does the boat have a built in cooler or a live well. Is there not a hose running to the top hole? If so see where it leads to. Most old ski boats like that have a drain in the elevated front deck floor for water to drain out. We had a very similar Glastron but the front floor drained out on the side of the hull and not the back.
  9. The top hole is probably for a livewell or a deck drain and it does not get plugged. The bottom hole should be the boats drain hole. Try the plug both on the inside and on the outside of the boat where the hole goes through the transom. Some boats are designed to be plugged from the inside and some from the outside.
  10. The 201 was probably the best boat I have ever owned out of about 30 and I miss everything about it except the fuel bill. I cannot afford to run a boat like that anymore with todays fuel prices. I didn't think anything about it back in tose days though and would sometimes have to refuel during the day. 50 gallons does not go a long ways with those big 2 smokes.
  11. Uh Huh LOL Once the go fast bug bites, and it will, that will change!
  12. I had a 93 201XL DC Stratos with a 200GT that ran 68-70 depending on how iI was loaded. The thing you have to watch out for and learn how to handle is chine walk. The Stratos can chine walk very bad if you are trimmed to high and get out of control in the blink of an eye if you don't know what you'er doing. It can literally throw you out of the boat when it gets bad. That is why I am strongly recommending you find someone to teach you the ropes of driving this boat.
  13. If you've never had a boat like this please get someone that knows how to teach you how to drive it. It is not quite the same as an 11ft jon boat.
  14. I use a 2,5 hp merc with a 15 in on my BassHunter and actually wish it were shorter. Plus I had to raise my transon a couple of inches to get the mounting bracket to even work on my boat.
  15. Maybe this will help make up your mind. Mostly poor reviews on this product also. They have great ideas, just very poor engineering and materials used. https://www.google.com/#q=pro+control+foot+control+review And Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Procontroll-RMIPC010-Control-Trolling-Motor/dp/B00AL0YZIC
  16. I haven't used that particular model but bought there Pro Control mounting bracket a couple of years back and it was utter garbage!!!! It was nearly $100 and the clamp screws all stripped first time putting it on, the trolling motor would slip around on the plastic mounting part, and it fell into the water several times as well as came loose trailering down I-40. Luckily I never lost the trolling motor before I came home and threw it in the trash. I should have sent it back for a refund but didn't want to even mess with it after that.
  17. Ordinarily I would suggest a Carolina rigged green pumpkin lizard fished on the stump flats where the Tom Bigby Waterway starts before the Ms line, however with the way the weather has been you are on your on. I haven't heard of anyone catching anything for the past month or so now, be it bass, crappie, etc. Never seen fishing screwed up like this and I have lived and fished W Tn for 53 years. Just heard that the new Carroll Co 1000 acre lake has had a major fish kill. Trying to get conformation. Take that back, the local Bolivar crappie king has caught a few, sure you know him, Co Mayor candidates treasurer. I lived in for several years and graduated from Bolivar in 1979
  18. Video of my Basshunter Bass Baby taking some big wakes a few months ago. Should give you some idea. 8 ft boat. If I had my trolling motor and battery onboard and up front as usual it may have been different. Trolling with a 2 1/2 hp merc this particular trip.
  19. I'm really digging the saltwater model and I live nowhere near an ocean
  20. I think this is the Company that made the factory Stratos covers when I had my 1993 model 201. Been a long time since I had that boat and had forgotten the manufacturer name but that sounds really familiar.
  21. Older Tracker boats are notorious for leaking rivets. Filling the boat with water is about the only solution for finding them. Start with just a few inches in the bottom and slowly increase the amount up to the water line to find the culprits. Problem with this is the foam will also absorb a lot of this water which is another issue with many boats including Tracker.
  22. Try contacting Stratos and see if the still offer covers for your boat. My 201 came with factory custom cover that also covered the outboard. It was totally weather proof and trailerable. Very very well made with thick heavy fabric and the inside was lined with a soft fabric to prevent any scratching. They were about $7-800 back in the 90's but worth every penny if you don't have a garage to park in.
  23. Buy the absolute longest boat you can afford. Length is a major key in smoother riding boats. I have never been on Guntersville but I assume it is similar to Pickwick. Pickwick can beat you up in a 50 foot houseboat!
  24. Very nice!!!!! Be sure and post this over on Tinboats.net if you haven't already!
  25. Fishing a bass tournament at Sardis res. in Ms out of a 16 ft flatbottom with 40 mph winds. Partners boat, broken bilge pump, waves crashing over the sides flooding the boat, him with a serious case of the flu, me bailing like crazy to keep us afloat long enough to make it back to the ramp. Me with the flu the next day from him Anyone that has ever fished Sardis knows what the slightest wind can do to the lake. Half of our club was smart enough to stay home because of the wind forecast but not us.
