  1. Growing up I was generally afraid of dogs because I was bit by quite a few. Once my best friend got an American bulldog that fear ended. They are such a strong and friendly laid back breed. Our family got one named toga and he's just like my friends spike happy friendly and an all around great dog. My mom told me this heart breaking story the other day. My aunt (not blood) her brother has an AB and the dog is super attached to him and territorial of the living room. Long story short the guy has been in the hospital and there other dog a small 15 lb breed got in the living room the other day and was ripped to shreds and killed by the AB. While this was going on the mans wife and daughter locked themselves in the bed room. The 23 year old son went to confront the dog and the dog with a blood filled mouth went after him. The son ended up getting the mans service pistol and dispatched the AB. Hearing this story was tough especially while looking at my own dog. However there was obviously issues that went unresolved. So I guess the moral of the story should be if you have a dog in the house it needs to listen to everyone and if it has issues a person should seek professional help to avoid tragedy.
  2. Haha great video. That's too funny I have an American bulldog but always wanted a Boston. It'd be nice to have a big bully and a little one.
  3. X2 my bag has two mess pockets on the side one holds a drink and snack the other pliers and gloves. I can get 3-4 clear tackle boxes and a ton of soft plastics. I bought one of those tackle carries that you sling over your shoulder but found the backpack better.
  4. Nice job. That's a nice fat smallie in the second pic.
  5. Yup. Had a post about it a month ago. Didn't really get any great answers except change spots.
  6. Ouch that's rough. I try and explain to my friends that my rods aren't ugly sticks and you can't bend the rod 90 degrees if you get snagged and to try and shake the rod around at different angles to free the snag. Hope you can get the rod replaced maybe you'll like the new cumaras.
  7. I would think if it doesn't have the c in front it would be a 2000 size but I don't know for sure. I was interested in buying a jdm shimano(twinpower)for awhile but settled on the stradic 1. Because if anything happens to it or is faulty shimano usa would service or warranty it. They won't service jdm reels. 2. The twinpower has more bearings then the stradic but 2 are in the handle and the other supports the drag. I could add two to the handle and the one on the drag isn't a big deal to me. Compared to the stradic I couldn't justify the purchase. My personal opinion if I was to buy jdm it would be daiwa ie luvias caldia or something like that. Daiwa usa would service them but there in lies another issue they are magsealed and you can't service them yourself and a service from daiwa would run 60-80 bucks.
  8. If there is a 'c' in the name ie, c2000hgs it's a campact body. 1000 size with a 2000 size spool.
  9. Great fish. Nice job.
  10. I agree with Marty. I'd also say don't buy it because you can get a deal on it buy it because you really want it. When I first started buying higher end gear not just top end gear I would scoop up anything I could find a deal on. What I found was just because I got a deal on it; it wasn't exactly what I wanted. So now I save that money that I used to spend on "good deals" and buy what I really want. I still try and find a deal on it but I make sure it's what I want. I actually passed on a deal today because its not what I really want. Hope that makes sense good luck.
  11. Hello and welcome to the forums. You may want to introduce yourself over in the introductions section. Your post was pretty open ended there are alot of variables such as price the techniques you want to fish if you have a boat etc. To start though I would suggest a 6'6-7 foot medium heavy fast casting rod and a 6'6-7 foot medium fast spinning rod. With those two rods you can cover many powe and finesse techniques and those in between.
  12. Wow amazing great fish.
  13. Great video. I like the cinematography and the fishing.
  14. I've had alot of luck with the mini fluke, tubes, beetle spins, and 3-4 inch senkos.
  15. Nice Job man. Those creek small mouth fight like prizefighters. Lots of fun. congrats.
  16. I would take wnybassmans advice. I've seen pike shear right through braid as well. When I fish waters with pike I use a leader of 12lb yo zuri and have not had a break off yet and this is with tx-rigged plastics where the hook and line is right at their mouth. Just some food for thought.
  17. Replace that senko with a fluke. Twitch twitch pause repeat catch fish.
  18. Great story. I fish alot in public places and people always ask me why and this and that or see me catch one and are like wow; I say though its the one that got away that keeps me coming back. I'm sure that young kid will really appreciate the rod and reel you put together for him. It's acts like that; that make this sport what it is. I commend your dedication and generosity.
  19. This. I had the same problem as well. I was using a setup pretty close to the op. braid has definetly helped and sometimes it doesn't hurt to lay into them alittle especially if your rod has a softer tip.
  20. I have a 6'6 light spinning rod that is fast becoming one of my favorites. Obviously not the rod your looking at. Since you've already handled the rod you may know better then me but I've found as you go up in rod levels the tips usually get faster. My mxf sellus is not as fast as my mf compre for example. One thing to take into consideration when comparing to other models and your desired applications for the rod.
  21. A pretty used term in the bass fishing community is "it's all about confidence" if a certain bait or brand gives you that why not stick with it? Though when I'm hard up for a bite I try and throw something outside of that zone and sometimes get one; so i like to keep my options open.
  22. Wow looks like you had a great time at a beautiful location. You're right it's a wonder how he gets anything done. Congrats
  23. Right on. I have a bunch of craws zoom yamamoto etc but clean up with the gizit tube. I've been taking 1/8-1/4 bell shaped weight jamming them in the nose and t rigging and its been very effective and generally snag less and weedless.
  24. Nice video. Definetly looks like you found a sweet spot there.
