  1. the 764 is also a great jig rod its got a great tip and lots of power
  2. 7 foot medium or medium light spinning rods are what i use most of the time.i did just buy a 7'4'' quantum kvd tour rod that is a medium power fast action.i figured i would buy it for 30.00 brand new at walmart and see how the longer rod feels for drop shot fishing
  3. yes I also use a max 703 spinning rod that works great for weightless plastics.I use this rod with 15lbs braid with an 8 or 10lbs leader and have never felt like the rod has lacked any power.
  4. powell max 703cef is a great rod for weightless plastics.it has the perfect amount of tip for throwing weightless plastics
  5. power pro is a great line I was also impressed with the p line braid.
  6. well for 60.00 i will grab one and try it out thanks guys for the info.might offer him 100.00 for both
  7. anyone have any info on what is different about shimano bantum curado vs a newer curado.i found a guy that has 2 bantum curado almost new for 60.00 each.the reels look similar to how a current curado looks.are these quality reels.what was the retail on the reels.are they made in japan.the reels are shimano bantum curado 200 cu if that helps.any info whould be appreciated thanks.
  8. powell max 703 spinning rod with a okuma stratos reel loaded with 10lbs big game.
  9. love okuma reels almost every reel I own is an okuma.they are reliable and an excellent value.
  10. I throw larger poppers and spook style baits up to 1/2 oz it works well with the softer tip
  11. I would go with the 704 the 703 will handle 1/2 oz jigs but the 704 will have more power if you are going to pitch to cover.I use a endurance 764 and 714 for most of my jig applications and feel the 4 power to be perfect for jigs.I use my 703 for finesse jigs and light worming.the 703 is also a great spinner bait and top water rod.
  12. twin tail grubs work great as a football jig trailer.
  13. I have used many denali rods for the price the jadewood series are solid rods.the noirwood rods in my opinion are overpriced and lack what I feel a rod pushing 400.00 should feel and perform like.the rosewood rods I found to be better feeling and performing rods.I still have and use one denali rod its the 7'4" heavy mark tyler rosewood rod.this is a killer braid rod that I use for frogs and pitching with braided line.I don't think you would be disappointed in the jadewood rods.
  14. Powell endurance 764 with a quantum tour edition reel loaded with 20 pound fluro.I use this setup for pitching and football jigs.
  15. 764 powell endurance is an amazing football jig rod and lighter cover flipping rod.it will throw up to a 3/4 ounce jig no problem.i never fish football jigs heavier than that so i cant say for sure how well the rod will perform with a 1 ounce jig.i do agree the 765 diesel is a great rod as well excellent multi purpose rod.
  16. I'm going to grab one of the 703 diesels and try it out.anyone throw spinnerbaits if so how did the rod perform. thanks for the feedback guys worst case it will be my spook and square bill rod.
  17. I'm getting ready to order between 4 and 6 rods from powell.I was curious if anyone uses the 705 diesel for topwater and if so how they like it.I'm going to pick up a max 704 and 705cef and a diesel 765 for sure.will pick out another rod in the endurance line .anyone with input on the 705 diesel and what they use it for is appreciated thanks.
  18. I have the same powell endurance 714 for jigs and heavy texas rigs.this rod will not disappoint I have the powell max 735 for frogs and also use it as a heavy cover pitching rod.for top water I use a max 703cef which works as a great all around work horse rod.for a flipping rod you can't go wrong with the endurance 775 flip rod.I would pick a heavier rod if you wanted your flipping rod to double as a punching rod.
  19. I only throw shallow cranks and I usually fish around cover.I will use 15 lbs big game most of the time but will go as heavy as 20 lbs .
  20. Powell endurance rods are my favourite rods.I have yet to find a better rod for under 200.00 .
  21. I use a Powell endurance 764 for all my football jigs and love it.best football jig rod I have used

im going to get one of the ethos rods and try it out for 40.00.
  23. fenwick hmx ,daiwa team, powell diesel would be my picks for under 100.00.
  24. im going with the alconites thanks for all the great info.
  25. I have 2 nfc blanks that I want to build into custom rods.both are 7foot 3inch rods one medium heavy and the other is a heavy.I have picked out all the components except guides for the builds.I will have to strip the blanks first because they are built rods that I got through a sponsor before they quit making rods.I am taking a rod building class as a hobby. the rods have both had guide failure as far as inserts popping out and cracking on both rods.I want to switch the guides on the rods from micros to standard guides.I am a fan of alconites but wanted to hear from guys with building experience what they recommend.
