Flukes
I don't like the fall with a Texas rig. I rig them on a 1/4oz Moaner Stroker hook (Rage Rig). I prefer a horizontal fall over vertical. I generally run flukes weightless unless I have some moving water or high wind. Weightless makes for a more erratic action and you can work the bait more in one specific are longer weightless over weighted.

Braid has about zero abrasion resistance on rocks, mussels etc. But as Darren stated, it has many other reasons.

Which Reel For The 200 Pricepoint?
At 200 dollars I would only recommend the Chronarch from Shimano. After my 2 year battle with everything Abu, I wouldn't buy them for batting practice.

My $1.40 Chinese Baitcaster Arrived Today.
Anyone who is thinking of starting out using a baitcaster and buys some POS special will be turned off in a second. I know I was. My first one lasted a whole 3 days and I gave up. It wasn't until 3 years later that I finally took the advise of a seasoned fisherman, purchased something worth crap and got back into it.

Best Scent?
I do. I out it on just about everything. It's more of a confidence thing with hard baits. Most are a reaction bite, so I can't tell you if the scent works or not.

Best Scent?
I've just been using the original. The owner recommended it to me via PM. Said that he uses it more than any other.

Best Rod For Fishing Flukes?
Spinning rods make more sense, but I prefer casting. I use the Shimano Clarus 6'8" MXF. So far it seems to be the best overall rod in 80 dollar range for topwater/flukes

The Best Cheap Flurocarbon
I wouldn't set a price for line. Your asking for trouble. Back it with cheap mono and you make that 200 yard spool last 3 reels or re spools. I've tested everything from Berkley Vanish to now testing Tatsu from main lines to leaders. Don't skimp.

Cursed With Jigs
It's a confidence things for me. Jigs have to be worked slow and can get down right boring sometimes. They don't catch more fish, but will catch bigger fish. Work on matching trailers to the jigs. Get several different colors and try them all. I fish a North Star Mistake colored Flip n Swim over a Bell Cow Lake near Chandler,OK. It is killer there. Same muddy Oklahoma water as everything else. I haven't got one bite in over 2 years fishing that jig at any other lakes ponds etc. Bell Cow it always works. Jigs are a tuff bait to master. There really is no wrong way fish them, it just depends on so many factors of which jig works where and when.

Best Scent?
X2 I use JJ's when I need some color added to my craw claws, but I use Megastrike more often. It's eaiser on my nose. If the fish are pressured in a spot, I will switch between the two.

The TV is entertainment for him. It keeps his mind running. A light up bear soothes them. Just a shot.

16 Y/o Angler Thinking About A Curado G Series
I've got two and love em. I have a Chronarch on my flipping jig rod and prefer it over the Curado G. That said, I have a G on my swim jig rod. It gets used more due to not having the best of cover in my local lakes. I've been meaning to upgrade it to a Chronarch, but I like it so much, I hate to part with it or take it out of the "A" team. Chances are if your dead set on a Shimano now, you will more than likely be keeping it for some time. If I had it to do over again, I would have grabbed the Chronarch in the first place and spent the extra money. If you looking for a good deal on one, hit up JFranco. hes a mod here and last I knew he had a 200E7 spooled with Tatsu, properly lubed and upgraded drag for like 190 shipped. If I have enough OT out of this next check, I'm going to grab it and the dobyns DX, provided he still has it.

Dead Weight
I just last year got mine to sleep on the bottom bunk. Dead lifting a munchkin 5 feet up was no easy task. Now that he has his light up bear he sleeps on the bottom and I can now tuck him in.

Parenting Help/insight
Have you tried giving him a light up stuffed animal? I have this light up bear thing for my 6 year old. He gets scared at night sometimes and I turn the bear on and it usually helps.

Mississippi Kites V's North Star Jigs
I was bored and pitching a jig in the front yard. 2nd pitch and these two Mississippi Kites showed up. The male hit the jig and actually carried it for about 10 feet before he dropped it. Unfortunately I didn't get the best on video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkX7aAxR0cw&feature=share&list=UUUAv4-g1v3VSvos3oetLObQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb4E9YUkb-8&feature=share&list=UUUAv4-g1v3VSvos3oetLObQ

What Rod/reel Would You Buy If Money Was Not An Issue?
Anything JDM "pimpafied" from Shimano and Dobyns DX's.

Whats Your Hottest Lure?
This year it's been the North Star Brown Craw jig with a Falcon Lake Rage Craw. This combo has been the best producing so far. A close 2nd would have to be the Green Gizzard Shad 4S from Strike King.

Limitations Of 50 Series Baitcaster
I have a 50E and bought it for cranking. With heavy baits, it was too much for the reel. A 2.5 would make the reel scream when I made even the lightest cast. I ended up using it for light top water.

Need Leader Advice
You want to try and use diameters that are close. That 4 pound braid coild be cutting into your 10 pound fluoro when you tighten it down. I run 40 braid over 20 pound fluoro. 30/15, 20/10 etc. That small of braid I radially done know what size fluoro to use. Hopefully someone with more experience can help. I've never used smaller than 20 pound braid. I use the Modified Albright knot and have for a few years. It's worked very very well for me. Aside from some bad spider wire, I've had no issues with the knot. My fluoro usually breaks before the knot does.

Yup! That was one of my top 5 reasons for making the switch to Shimano last winter.

Preferred Fluoro Pound Test For Medium To Shallow Cranking
Thanks. I just read a ton of reviews on the Kanzen and I'm kinda worried. Did Seaguar revamp the line recently?
