  1. I really like the GL2 Jig and Worm rods and I've held the 6'8" M/XF. It felt really good. I've read that this rod is also recommended for smaller top waters as well. No where around here carries the Top Water series TWR802C. This rod will be used for PopR's, Spit N Shads, smaller walking type baits. Nothing to large. Can anyone comment on the Top Water series of rods from Loomis? Thanks in advance
  2. Its not so much the great ratio as it is the Inches per turn. I like 24-25 for shallow to medium 8 foot depth cranks. For deeper than 8, I like 23.
  3. I just picked one up today. What will I gain in getting a core 50 over having my 50E super tuned by Mike? I'm not worried about the weight difference more just the smoothness and reliability. Thanks
  4. Ya, those Northerners make fun of us all year about the smallies they kill up there, but its like been 80 here for a month
  5. I thought he was full of poo when he told me to speed the presentation up during the cold. We were fishing in a blizzard freezing our butts off, 30-40 MPH wind etc and killed em on a green and red (fast moving) North Star swim jig and Squarebill cranks. If I slowed the jig down, I got nothing. When I burned it back, is the only time I got a hit at all.
  6. Jig. Hands down the best.
  7. I got away from using Fluoro just because when a 4 dollar North Star jig gets hung up in the nasty, I can usually pull it out with Braid. That said, I ran 14 pound (in not as nasty of cover) and 20 pound (in the nasty) Fluoro for a couple of years with decent success. On the average rod, I couldn't tell a difference in bites using Braid over Fluoro. I use braid for its strength, but more for the line management of it. I hate line twist and memory with everything that's holy. I get none with braid. Good luck with your Jig fishing. Its my all time favorite. I have two dedicated Jig rods and will be adding a 3rd next year. Only topwater comes close to the feel and thrill of a "thump" on a jig.
  8. Not me. I've got 3 from Simmons Sporting Goods on eBay that were perfect and one at BP I hand picked. It might have been TNBassin though. I think he had one come to him all buggered up
  9. I am one of those people that have had Zero issues with mine. I had 4 with no problems. I'm down to one as I upgraded but still love the rod. Pure Fishing will repair or replace the rod if something happens. Keep your receipt and you can exchange it if its bad. Check the guides over really well. Look for miss aligned guides and chips or cracks before you get it. The *** series and the Shimano Clarus rods are a better deal in the 100 dollar mark. Just my 2 cents.
  10. I have an FTO jig box. Holds them all really tight. The rest get labeled and put on the peg board until needed
  11. But yet you came on a public board and posted it? No product in the history of man kind is flawless. When he says he will buy back the product if your not satisfied, he means its. One phone call and you would have a new tube
  12. I use this http://www.midwayusa.com/product/939259680/midwayusa-competition-range-bag I have had this bag for 6 years now. Its not made for fishing, but I can hold 6-7 3700 series boxes in it. It holds all my extras, knives, scent etc. Pockets galore. In one of the side pockets I can hold about 25 bags of plastics too. You will need your own boxes, but its d**n strong. I used to haul 100 plus pounds of gear and ammo around to all my competitions with it. Its only 50 dollars and they go on sale all the time. I think I paid 29.99 for mine.
  13. RW, Have you thrown the DT4's and Bomber Square A's on this rod? I love my MH I got. I still can't quit gooing over it, but I have noticed that the small DT's4, Square A's and 1.5's seem a bit to small for it. It loads ok, but I think the Medium may load them better. I have another GC to blow and thought about it.
  14. Keep this in mind, if you have that much of a problem with people giving you hell now, just think whats its like in the real world after college highschool etc or good Lord willing, a career in Bass Fishing. You think the big names didn't catch a ton of hell or deal with worse along the way? Think about Iaconelli and how he acts. I bet you everything I have, that dude took some hell in the early days. You obviously have been good so far with fishing, but nothing and I mean nothing can prepare you for life in the real world when you get older. You know absoultely jack about life and what it holds for you at 17. I was there about 16 years ago and I still don't have a freggin clue about life. If someone whos say 50-60 tells me something about life and what to expect, I keep my mouth shut and my ears open. I don't care if the guy is a pizza delivery man, nothing makes up for experience in life. Plus man, this is the internet, people are ***** and posting a rant about someone you don't know giving you hell.......well thats kinda silly if you ask me
  15. And here I was set on a GLX next year, now I'm back to the drawling board
  16. Hell I hope so and it's not even my rod lol I went over it with a fine tooth comb this evening and I didn't notice anything again. I am going to keep a close eye on it.
  17. I just checked mine and its an older model. I may have got a gem. I've used the hell outta this rod and its not no paint peeling or guide issues at all. (Knock on wood).
  18. So your saying you got one bad jig and they now suck? I've always wondered where the bad reviews on websites come from?? I see your only 16. Let me give you some free advice. Before you trash a product online thats known for good products, give it more than a 10 second thought. True NSCB jigs are better quality. Doesn't mean SK, jigs are crap.
  19. Anyone with KU is their user name gets a free pass. X2 on the aboive
  20. I know it's gonna kill you to do it, but look at the Crucials and Mojo's before you leave
  21. I see what you mean now. Sorry I wasn't thinking about vertical fishing was eaiser with a spinning reel m I am shore bound for another year or so it may work
  22. What about using 30 pound braid and a furoro leader. That would put you at 8 pound mono diameter.
  23. Is the Calcutta to much for light baits? I only ask as I have a Chronarch and a Curado using 1/4 oz weighted plastics and they seem to work well
  24. Keep this in mind guys. Even know a swift bullet would end alot of problems, if we don't give this yard bird due process, we violate everything this country was founded upon.
  25. Does anyone have the rod, used it etc? I want to get into drop shot this summer. Not a fan of spinning rods. Was thinking of pairing this with a 50 Chronarch. Any thoughts opinions on it? Thanks
