  1. The palomar knot a so much easier knot to tie and it works really well for braid, why not just tie that? And if you use a leader join the mono/fluoro to the braid with an alberto or albright knot.
  2. I mounted it on my kayak with a RAM mount with a 1" ball and a RAM bracket that is made specifically for the Elite line of finders.
  3. It's good unless you try to stand up
  4. I have a lowrance elite 4x-DSI on my kayak and I really like it. Color and down scan. They run just under $200
  5. I weigh about 185. I don't think you would have a problem. I've had 50lbs of gear in mine with me and it worked just as we'll as without the extra weight. Seated stability is pretty good and I can kick my legs over the side to reach in the back and it doesn't feel like it wants to tip whatsoever. It has a pretty good secondary stability I think.
  6. Huh? Both humminbird and lowrance have down imaging sonars that have side scanning capabilities. The HB finders are actually called Side Imaging and the lowrance are called StructureScan. LWD, what kind of fish finder is this that you have? (Brand, model)
  7. I have a Prowler 11T...I think it's a great boat. I also have a Trident 11 which is the same boat but it comes with the rod pod cover with the provisions to hold finders, cup holders, rod holders, etc, and it also came with a rod holder to use with the rod pod. The rod pod itself is great for putting large items inside the kayak. I can easily slide a small tent and sleeping bag inside using the rod pod opening where on some kayaks the opening isn't that big. It's also easy to put rods inside which is what it's really meant to be used for. It is kind of narrow to stand in. i've tried and while I can stand without any problem, the moment I try to cast or move it becomes pretty unstable, not to the point where it'll tip over, but enough that it makes it difficult to stand up. It tracks and handles well though and I really like fishing out of it. Wish I had more time to use it.
  8. Probably not, I was a kid and didn't know too many neighbors. Only lived there from like 1985-1992 or so
  9. Anything shad or baitfish colored, anything crawfish colored, whites, darks, pumpkins, greens, browns, tans...
  10. I did pick up some Roboworm Fat Worms in Prizm Craw, cool brown with shiny purple on bottom. Also got some Green pumkin, Black grape, and some other natural colored 4" finesse worms...Hopefully that does the trick. I also have some 6" pumpkin trick worms and of course some white and shad colored flukes that I'll try...
  11. Yeah, I agree with the fish coming up into the shallows to feed before winter is what they do around here too. Last year it was all about the small squarebill right up along the bank. I was catching most of my fish within 5' of the bank using small Bomber SquareA's. Unfortunately I haven't been out much this year lately to see what's happening although I tore them up the other night for about a half hour before dark with a jitterbug.
  12. Depends on where you catch the K. If its in a lake probably. If its in a stream, it depends in the stream since largemouth don't typically like fast moving water.
  13. Q: What was the first thing the cannibal did when he dumped his girlfriend? A: Wiped
  14. Outback Steakhouse has started having Star War themed menu items and one of the things is a Wookie Steak. They must not be cooking them properly though because they are always a little chewy.
  15. That's the subdivision we lived in. Maraz Meadows.
  16. That's only for kayaks that have scuppers. It's what I used to mount my transducer in my kayak.
  17. I used to live in Murphy behind the gas station there in Murphy flats.
  18. What kind of canoe is it? If it's polyethylene or fiberglass (actually anything but metal or wood) you can mount it inside as a shoot-through-hull with some kind of marine putty or marine glue. You won't get temp settings but it works as a depth/fish finder still. Humminbird actually makes a kayak shoot through hull mounting kit with the glue you need http://www.amazon.co...g/dp/B001I7SMJK There are instructions on youtube too... My kayak is a SOT so it has scupper holes that I ran the transducer down.
  19. Kirkwood, MO here.
  20. We are taking a trip to Bull Shoals in a couple weeks. So we will have pretty clear water. Any tips on what colors work best for deep clear water like BS has?
  21. Here's how to rig it:
  22. I think that if you are only using it on lakes the longer the kayak the better. It'll be easier to keep straight on long paddles across the lake, plus you'll be able to carry more stuff with you if you need to...I'd go with the Ride
  23. 9lb largemouth, 5lb smallmouth around here...
  24. Just order it from Tack Warehouse or Bass Pro
  25. I use one of these: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Flambeau-AZ3-Light-Soft-Tackle-Bag/16326924 I didn't pay $30 for mine though, I think it was more around $15. It holds three small boxes, has lots of pockets for bags of plastics and is nice and small for throwing over one shoulder...Hardly know it's there most of the time although it's getting way too full of stuff I don't use much anymore...
