Yeah. Those are brand names. Yo-zuri is a hybrid copolymer that is nylon inside and flourocarbon coated. Kind of best of both worlds. And it's super strong for its break rating. I think 12# breaks somewhere around 19# of tension.Most people who use braid use a 100% flourocarbon as a leader. Usually a couple feet or so.

Its doable because I ordered some 3/8 oz shakey head football jigs on eBay that had 5/0 Gamy EWG hooks.

I think a lot of people on here are going to suggest Yo-Zuri Hybrid, probably in an 8-10lb test.

I think I'm just about done watching the olympics. NBC has ruined just about all the coverage for me. For example, tonight we were watching the coverage of the second day of the decathlon. Got through all the events except the 1500m run. Then they break for commercial and come back with what, women's 10m platform diving. I really wanted to watch the 1500m run but They instead wished me to stomach watching diving first. Diving and gymnastics are two events I really cant watch anymore. I hate subjective events where someone else determines the outcome not the athletes that participate. NBC has really failed in showing this Olympics. As said above, why can't they show more of the obscure events like rowing, kayaking, team handball, etc. they showed too much of the other sports that you can see more than every 4 years. Just a little rant. Carry on.

Like said above. All the rivers here in Missouri that used to be floatable are all trickles that you can wade across. Makes catching fish easier since they are all concentrated in pools. It's just been too dang hot to think about fishing though.

I have two ocean kayaks. One is a prowler 11t and the other is a trident 11. Pretty much the same boat except the trident came with the nice modular rod pod which you can mount all sorts of stuff on. It also depends on what you are going to use it for rivers or lakes. For rivers you probably want something that turns well like a Jackson Coosa or a Wilderness Tarpon. For flat water you'll want something that tracks well so you aren't weaving all the way across the lake like a snake. My ocean kayaks are made for flat water but they actually don't do that bad in streams and rivers.

More bearings= smoother reeling and casting. Lighter weight= easier to use for longer periods of time Better braking systems= less hassle with birds nests Metal housings= better and longer lasting quality As with all reels you get what you pay for for the most part.

Yum dingers and BPS stick-o's here. I can get 3 times as many of those as GY senkos and still catch plenty of fish. The fish don't know the difference.

I have an Elite 4x DSI (which is the non-GPS version) on my kayak and it works pretty well...Only had it on there for about 4-5 trips so far so I'm still kind of learning how to use it, but it really shows whats down there. You can clearly make out down brush and trees, although I haven't marked too many fish on it yet. I've mainly used it for bottom structure finding, depth and, water temp. The color screen makes it real easy to see even in bright sunlight...

You can t-rig them with an offset 4/0 hook weightless and fish them like a jerk bait,twitching them erratically like a dying baitfish.

For the price I hope it catches fish! That will be painful when a fish breaks you off when using that lure.

I think I'd skip the GY senkos and go with either the BassPro stick-o's or the Yum Dingers...same baits but much cheaper...I like the Yum Dingers since they have a little groove to hide the hook tip better...

The mustad ultra KVD trebles (short shank EWG) work real well. Haven't lost nearly as many fish since switching. They allow a bigger hook while not changing the action of the lure.

I never had break offs at the knot (Palomar) but the line isn't strong at all and would break at the slightest snag up I would have. I junked it for some pline cx and haven't looked back.

A lot of the same techniques used for largemouths work for smallmouths, so any kind of dying baitfish lures, any kind of crayfish imitators like jigs, and a lot of top water lures work for smallies.

I agree. In the mass chaos that was happening in that theater, along with the fact that the guy threw out smoke/tear bombs into the crowd would have made it hard for anyone to target the right person in that scenario. Plus how many people would have been calm enough in the situation where a guy wearing body armor and a helmet wielding an assault rifle to be able to sensibly pull out their CC weapon to do anything before they got shot themselves. All the practice in the world cannot come near enough to prepare a common citizen for something like that. Heck even military trained personel have trouble dealing with someone else pointing a gun at them.

I think this argument is null and void. Two of the most dangerous cities in the country, St. Louis and Detroit both allow C&C and they are usually ranked #1&2 in the country annually for murders and aggravated assaults. Besides, most establishments such as a theater do not allow firearms even if you are permitted to carry. And anyone that is a law abiding C&C citizen would follow rules placed on establishments. Nothing could have prevented this tragedy from happening, and someone pulling out another gun could have only made things worse with that many other people around.
