WRB So you look for the thermo and baitfish and let that determine where u fish. Do you mostly make sure you see bass on your graph when you find your fishing spot?

I want to learn to use my graphs better and what to look for and had some questions. When you are at looking at your graph for places to fish, what are you looking for? I know it depends on the season/water temp as to where you may be trolling to look, but what are you looking for? 1. Are you mostly looking for balls of shad? Or more balls of shad related mostly to structure? 2. If you find a very promising piece of structure but don’t see bass around are you likely to stop and fish quickly, or do you pass over and keep looking? 3. Would you be more likely to fish an area with shad and no visible bass around or do you want to make sure you are seeing arches around those balls of shad to stop and fish? 4. If you are trolling along and see what could be bass on the bottom with no bait visible, do you stop and fish there, or would you be more likely to keep looking for another spot with bass and shad? 5. Do you stop and fish suspended bass much, or bass on the bottom?

I just bought a bunch from Northstar, so we will see how they compare to my Strike King, Terminators, and Booyah's.

i am thinking about getting that book. any other good books out there that are worth the read?

I was looking at Ko-Man-Chi, Terminator, Northstar, Strike King, or RMC. The RMC and Ko-Man-Chi are pretty expensive, the Northstar looks really nice. I like some of the Strike King Pro series ones too. There are so many out there to choose from, any opinions are great.

What is your favorite spinnerbait and why? Also, what colors do you prefer to use? I have just gotten into using spinnerbaits more and have been hunting for a quality spinnerbait.

So, I have been finding a lot of bass on the edges of points lately, and a question has arose in my mind, when (besides spawn) do LM or SM hang out on top of the flats versus out over the edge? I fish a mostly vegetation free reservoir that ranges from 50 ft in the old stream bed in the middle, out to 10 foot points that extend out from the sides of cuts that have very small streams feeding them. I am just looking for some more information on where to find bass when. I do use my electronics, but I want to get a better understanding for where to start my search and more about bass patterns. I have recently gotten into C-rigs more and wanted to know what you guys use for weights. what weights do you use when fishing C-rigs? and what depths do you use those weights?

RW, what methods are you using Hybrid for? Second question, what do you think of the clear? TW only has the clear in the 600 yd spools and they aren't much more then the 275 spools. my lakes are mostly stained. thanks for all your good input.

I have been using Stren Florocast, and I am not impressed with it. I have been thinking about Seaguar Red Label and Sunline Super. What do you guys think of those less expensive ones versus Seaguar Invisx and Abrazx or Seaguar Shooter?

What oil do you recommend to mix for my 03 Yamaha 150 2 stroke? Synthetic, mineral? brand? Also, do you need ethanol treatment for 2 strokes? I would assume yes, but wanted to find out. Also, what do you use for your treatment?

WRB, in your opinion, do you think it is worth trolling into a cover, watching your electronics before fishing it? are you worried about spooking fish? Or are you mainly talking points and deep cover?

So, you are moving into a cove or point and searching for a spot with fish, how fast do you work it? Do you meticulously hit the laydowns from every angle or do hit it once or twice on the way by and work the area fairly quickly till you get a bite? I have been watching some Elite and FLW pros do videos and they really seem to work the areas fast till they find a bite, then they hunker down and hit the area hard. I am fairly new to bass fishing and I have always really worked an area thoroughly (often with little success) and am re-thinking my process of finding bass. I am thinking I need to switch to hitting more areas and working them less thoroughly. What are your thoughts?

I got the Stratos, great boat and motor, great buy. Even got it cheaper then mentioned above. Now just gotta get out on the lake! man is it wider then my bass tracker, lol.

i can get the stratos for $9500, it is in nice shape, with a Lowrance HDS 10 and 5, has to sell is moving and can't take with. the champion looks fantastic, looks about 2 years old for a 10 year old boat., it is $11000

i am looking at two boats right now, a 2004 Champion 187 with a 175 Optimax and a 03 Stratos 185 with a Vmax 150. Any thoughts on those two engines or boats? both are a really good price. at the moment i am leaning towards the Stratos, it is a really good buy with lots of extras. thoughts would be appreciated. especially on the engines.

I know this is old, but have you started collecting any yet? I would be willing to start with you. I fish mostly the Central Ohio Lakes. let me know.

I was definitely thinking 2005 or newer, that seems to be the spot where I can afford a nice boat and still not have it be too old. That is good that it is also the year the motors started to be better. With that age boat, i am probably looking under 20', i need to keep my cost below $15, I think most quality shape 20's will be out of that price range. I would like to have 150 hp, but think i could settle for 115hp. What do you guys think are good brands (and models) to look at or stay away from in that range? I know Nitro doesn't get a ton of love. Seems to be a lot of Rangers for sale around here, but I am willing to travel to find what I want.

So, as soon as I sell my Harley V-rod I am buying my first glass boat. The big question is get something 2000-2004 in a Ranger or Triton or like with a 150hp-200hp 18-20 ft. Or I am looking at a 2008-2010 Stratos 186 XT with a 115hp. The older boats have more engine and have a few more amenities. the Stratos have newer motors, less hours, less amenities, and less hp. What do you guys think? I want to start to get more serious about fishing and start doing weekend tournaments locally, and then regionaly. I know to really compete in bigger regional events on big lakes a 200+ hp motor is what you need. But, I am thinking by the time i get to the level where i really need that I will be ready to upgrade again. Any thoughts by you guys would be much appreciated.

Seems as if i was just flooding it period. If i started it with it in straight up neutral for one crank, then gave it a touch of trottle for the second crank it fired up every time. I was putting the throttle down a good bit of the way to start it and that was flooding it, and once it flooded I could never get it back. Haven't had it happen since I started doing that new starting technique. Funny the last boat I would drive you had to give it tons of gas to start. Lesson learned.

i haven't gotten into the A-rig stuff yet. But, I will try the swim baits, and drop shots. Don't know why I didn't think of those.
