Dobyns DX702C/743C
Haven't used the 702 so I can't comment on that one, but I use my 743 for senkos, weightless plastics, lighter t rigs and light jigs. It excels for those options.

St. Louis, No Luck
Haven't had a chance to get out much lately, and haven't fished many of the areas you mentioned this year. Been to bee tree twice this year for a quick outing. Once was skunked the other time got one about 3 1/2 lbs. that's been my experience at bee tree the last few years....not many fish but a good one when I get one. Think it gets a lot a pressure for a small lake. Always people there and have seen several Boy Scout outings there over the years as well. There's just not too many lakes close to the city and they all get pressure in the summer. I usually head out west and float the meramec river this time of year, have much better luck and a lot of fun. If you are gonna hit local lakes I would follow bassontherange's advice and get out early in morning or late at night. Good luck!

Northern Virginia Area, Bass/snakehead Fishing
Thanks for taking the time to post your experience. Yeah as much as I like the area and seeing my family, I never miss the traffic when I leave. And fishing the lake of the ozarks I understand all about dealing with recreational boaters. It makes it tough in season and on weekends. It looks like my brother found a guide service through someone he knows so we will be fishing on the Potomac with a guide. Not knowing the area and never fishing a tidal area I think we will have much better luck with someone that knows the area. Thanks again for the help! A little off topic was just wondering what kind of kayak you have and how do you like it?

Northern Virginia Area, Bass/snakehead Fishing
Thanks for the advice. Been reading about the Aquia, sounds like might be a good place for the kayaks. Debating now on whether to get a guide for the Potomac for bass or Chesapeake bay for stripers and others. Thanks to both of you for the information.

Northern Virginia Area, Bass/snakehead Fishing
Hey guys, Wondering if anyone can help me out. Going up to the DC/ northern Virginia area to visit my brother in about a month. Trying to get him into fishing so I was hoping to find either a good guide to use or a good lake/river area to take out his kayaks and get some fishing in. Would like to go somewhere where we could get both snakeheads and bass if possible. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance for the help.

Some Questions About Powell
I have used their warranty for a rod that my buddy slammed the rod locker on and broke off the tip. Paid the $50 or whatever it was at the time (think its gone up a little) and sent the rod in and had a new rod in about a week. They were great to deal with. The owner replied to my email within a few minutes of sending it both times I have dealt with them. Great rods and customer service. Don't have any experience with the rod you are looking at so I can't help you out there. Good luck!

Most Sensitive Rod For 150?
I have the same savvy 734c and I agree it does feel dead ( I really like my champion extreme though). But I can't complain too much about the savvy because I just caught my pb on it today using it as a spinnerbait rod . But did not like it for texas rigs or bottom contact baits. I would recommend the powell max for texas rigs in that price range. That is what I use and I love it. Have the 703 and 733. Definately worth the additional money over the veritas in my opinion.
