  1. Welcome aboard Rocket! Many people think typing in ALL CAPS is considered YELLING. May or may not be true. For sure though, it's more difficult to read when paragraphs are typed in ALL CAPS. Just an FYI P.S. Your idea of supergluing senkos for newbie fishermen is a pretty good one!
  2. Gotcha. I molded a few baits last night using the 1/4 ratio. The floating plastic was very easy to work with. The lures have a nice buoyancy to them, but the real test will be on the water this weekend!
  3. Thanks. The super floating plastic that I bought from delmart is the consistency of cake frosting, but lighter. I'm not sure how the stuff would get airborne, but again, I'm not that familiar with it. I'm going to test mold just the pure soft plastic vs. 1/4 ratio of super float and soft plastic. We'll see what happens.
  4. I'll check there too. Thanks gman. Hope to hear some opinions on here still too!
  5. I am getting ready to mold solid body soft plastic. It's kinda like the lunker city salad spoon, but significantly larger. See pic. I've molded this lure before, but only as a test using a mishmash of old worms I melted together. The lure turned to be heavier than I'd like with this mishmash plastic. I'd like to make the lure somewhat bouyant. So, I have the following two products: Calhoun 2101 Soft Plastic Calhoun 1013 Super Floating plastic I have a few questions: 1. Will using fresh 2101 soft plastic most likely result in a lure that's lighter than the mishmash plastic? 2. will this 2101 plastic float at all or sink very slowly? 3. Can I mix the 2101 and 1013 plastics together to create a semi-bouyant lure? If so, What might be a good ratio to start with?
  6. I'm assuming you will not disclose that the lure used to be a keychain, correct? That's a little deceptive for the unknowing buyer. If their lures and their keychains are one in the same, minus the terminal tackle, then it's maybe it's okay. Definitely make sure the lures run like they are supposed to if you start selling them. :
  7. Last year I caught one 2lb. smallie on the dropshot rig using a fat ika (skirt down) -- so it did work, once, anyhow! Because the fat ika is a compact bait with little body movement, I probably wouldn't consider it for the shaky head. I think the Ika does it's best work on the fall. For the shaky head, I prefer to use a plastic that has more wiggle to it. Anything is worth a try at least once though!

Bass actually inhale the bait, not suck it in like a spaghetti noodle. ;D At $7.95, hopefully it's the new biggest thing in fish scents, err "lubricants". Let us know how you like it after you tested it out a bit! Good luck!

Hm, I've held my share of frogs as a kid, but I never recall them having much of a distinct odor. I'm not a believer in dousing my lures with additional scents. I don't think it helps attract fish. My fishing partner IS a believer, but he rarely outfishes me when he's using that type of stuff. Frog scent just sounds (smells?) like another gimmick to catch fishermen.
  10. Nice muskie NJ! Way to go!
  11. I can almost guarantee, you'll start catching even more fish if you're able to put down those buzz and spinner baits once in awhile! Adding plastics to your bass arsenal is an absolute must. Have fun!
  12. Or add a stinger (trailer) hook to your 3/0 if you got one of those.
  13. Here ya go. This is all I could find. It might be a discontinued model. http://www.the-best-sporting-goods.com/Fishing/Denny_Brauer_Signature_Series_Bass_Net.html I have the rubber net RW gave a link to. It's great!
  14. I t-rig mostly because of the all the weeds up here in da north. However, when my senko gets torn up, I'll throw it wacky for a bit. Last night, I had beat up senko that was ripped and nearly torn in two. I wacky-rigged it and then caught a 4lb. smallie. ;D
  15. Yeah, good point. I should add that I'm mainly interested in hearing what people use on glass boats, not aluminum...
  16. That is some nasty-lookin' nacho cheese! You won't see me putting that on my nachos.
  17. I'm interested in finding out what type of transducer most people use for their console finder. I only have a flasher at the moment, but I'm planning to add another finder in the near future, but I'm not sure which type of transducer to go with.
  18. Berkley baits are okay, but not preferred by me. I don't like their rods. Their 7" powerworm used to be my #1 fish catcher, but it's since been replaced by the culprit ribbontail worm. That is, when I decide to toss a tail worm instead of a senko-type bait.
  19. I love going to experience Bass Pro, the retail store, about once a year down in Gurnee, IL. However, I never purchase online from them anymore. Between the ridiculous shipping charges and then finding out two weeks later about items in my order that went on backorder and never get shipped, I now look elsewhere. Their shipping process may be cost effective for them, but the turn-around time and fees is a major disservice to their customers.
  20. Awesome. I've got to get a couple of those.
  21. Nah. The magic comes from the guy holding the rod. A senko is a highly effective prop though, that can do a lot of work on it's own.
  22. Did you get bit with other lures? Senkos have no magical powers. There's no magical lure that bass will always hit regardless of the conditions. Everyone has that kind of luck with every lure at some point. If you're not getting bit with one particular lure, change how you're presenting the lure. Try moving it faster or slower, jiggle it more or less, etc... Senkos though, work better the less YOU work the bait. If that doesn't work, then rig something else.
  23. There are many hooks to choose from, but the best thing to do, as a beginner, is don't make things too complicated. A 3/0 wide gap offset hook will work with just about all your plastics. You might want to have something smaller for your small plastics like tubes. You don't need every kind of lure out there. There's A LOT of great information in the ARTICLES section of this web site for learning about different lures and fishing situations. Now... get out and fish... keep your line wet... and pay attention!
  24. I find that there's a time and place for buzzbaits, but they aren't frequent. Lot's of fun though when they are hitting it. Nice thing about fishing line is that you can always retie. So, throw whatever you think will work and then switch it up when you think you need to. Still, a spinnerbait is numero uno. You can search the water column high and low and in the middle, kill it, burn it, jig it, slow roll it... and you can cast it a country mile with the wind!
