Braided Line Help
I use the alberto as well. Took me some time to get right, but now I can tie it quick and small and i am horrible at knots.

What Side Are You?
Where can't you fish year round? Just have to dress a bit warmer and learn how to dig holes in ice.

Tried Fluoro For The First Time Today......meh... Updated 6/5
My first spool of fluoro has been Sufix Invisiline. It is great so far. I have one baitcast reel loaded with 12# and use the same as leader material on my spinning gear, but have yet to fish with that. However, coming off the spool while tying my leader on and having it sit in my trunk for a month, it was still as supple as when i pulled it from its first warm water bath. Its really tough, too. I have a surprisingly difficult time biting off my tag ends. My one complaint is that, while inexpensive, it is only 100 yards.

How Much Backing
That's basically what I already do, but apparently my eyeball measurements need adjusting lol. I thought there was some trick to measuring it out. Oh well, I'll figure something out.

How Much Backing
How do you guys measure when to stop filling with backing on a spinning reel and when to stop filling the main line? I have noticed that a large part of my woes with my spinning reels is I don't have the sense to stop filling and ALWAYS over fill my reels. I am going to re-spool tonight and I have an outing this weekend so I want to do it right. I do not have a yard or garage as I live in an apartment, so space is limited. Note that I am trying to use as little main line as possible so as to save money. I know some only use backing for braid to stop it from slipping on the reel.

Which Rod Should I Buy?
I have been leaning towards an *** or a Powell as my next big rod buy. I went to Gander and held an ***. Yep, *** it is. They are awesome looking rods. The pictures don't do justice just how bad apple they look.

Trouble Uploading Pics...can A Mod Address This?
i tried to reproduce on my phone and got "you can upload up to 750k of files". This is a mod/Glen issue. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.

Trouble Uploading Pics...can A Mod Address This?
Very strange. Are you certain the new topic message space is completely clear? Attachments show up as message text, but link to the picture. So if for whatever reason the "[sharedmedia=***]" is still in the message box, you will get the error. Or it will have to be handled by a mod and I am absolutely wrong.

What browser? Have you deleted the cookies/cache?

What browser? Try deleting cookies/cache. There is a chance that the forum software still thinks you are trying to upload a picture. But wait... you commented here fine. Does it only happen when trying to create a new topic?

Open the picture on your computer with Paint (right click, edit). Then, on the top, click image, then stretch/skew (or resize). Change the horizontal number to 50 (the others should follow suit). Either save and change that picture permanently, or "save as" and rename so you keep the original. This is a common occurance uploading pictures to BR because I assume Glen wants to keep the server storage space to a minimum.

When you place the order, you select either wire tie or rattle band as your jig choice.

What Did You Buy Today!?
I finally upgraded my spinning gear (well, one for now): Pflueger President (Dicks currently has a trade in program so I traded my busted up spinning reel to knock $10 off. $50 President? Yes please. Refurbished 6'6" ML/F St. Croix Eyecon ECS66MLF ($40 all because they had to replace the tip) 6# Invizx I just got the rod today and was only able to cast a couple, but it casts pretty nice, far and loads up like no rod I've ever had. I kept waiting for my bait to land, but it kept going. Not a lot of feel on a weightless worm that I could tell. But it was windy and I haven't gotten the Invizx spooled up yet. The President, though? WOW. I can see why they are so highly recommended. Last week I got my order from BPS: Pro Qualifier 7' MH Vendetta (I wanted a Carbonlite, but they are backordered until the middle of June) 12# Yo-Zuri

What Stage Of Spawn Is This Bass In?
All I know is that it is recent. I go to this place a couple times a week and this is the first I have seen this many dead fish. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know there were bluegill IN this pond.

What Side Are You?
Just ask MarkH024: South Side sucks.

What Stage Of Spawn Is This Bass In?
Makes sense about the bluegill. This article seems to indicate that it was a female, but not what point of spawn. You're probably right, though, that the spawn already happened. Judging by how thin she was, I'll second that.: http://www.americansportfish.com/?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&catid=18&Itemid=45 Good thing I am not a bass. Otherwise I'd have a very awkward adolescence. Thanks for the reply.

Canal Behind My House, Part 3
Fair enough, but the discussion is most certainly not "are largemouth bass a problem for the snakehead population?". The way you say this is as if the snakeheads are sure to die off and cannot sustain their numbers. That is, if the LMB eat that many of their young. If that were the case, we likely would not be having this discussion and it would not be a heated debate every time it is brought up. I am genuinely curious and only sound combative because I have zero tact, so I apologize if I come across rude.

Line >> Spool - Are You A Taper, Or A Knotter?
Not a day goes by where I don't read a tip on here and think "DUH! Why didn't I think to do that?". It's so obvious, yet not obvious at all.
-
Canal Behind My House, Part 3
I thought the problem was competition for forage, not that the new species was eating the LMB. When you combine two apex predators feeding on the same thing, one eventually goes extinct. Which makes me wonder why Pike aren't seen as more of a nuisance.

What Stage Of Spawn Is This Bass In?
Come to think of it, spawn is likely in full swing. The shore was littered with dead bluegill and I chalked it up to poor fish management by the starving masses that frequent this place (it is a good place to take your kids fishing and it attracts bucket fisherman because of the plentiful just barely legal trout that get stocked). But just now I realized that it could possibly be the bass that are killing them. Right?

What Stage Of Spawn Is This Bass In?
Is he getting ready to bless a she-bass with his fry potion? Or, if he(?) is not getting ready to get his groove on with a lady bass, what is this red mark? He was a very angry fish and fought like he weighed MUCH more than the ~2 pounds that he did. He gave my new setup a nice breaking in.

Line >> Spool - Are You A Taper, Or A Knotter?
On baitcasters I try to tie a few times, then I get frustrated because I am TERRIBLE at knots and resort to tape. Spinning reels, though, I tie a regular overhand knot because I have yet to master the arbor or I forget about that sort of knot when I am spooling up.

Wiggle Wart Meet Mr Pike
Then he won't be doing much fishing. If you are bass fishing up north, you are bound to catch pike. It's inevitable.

Canal Behind My House, Part 3
It is, but you have to actually read the documentation to know that. Otherwise, people go off of gut feelings and wives tales.
