My main spinning rod is 6'6" my baitcast is 7" and I also use a 5" ultra light with 4lb flurocarbon for wacky rigs.

Scott im not sure if just where you are but frogs in both rivers and lakes do well for me. Pulled my personal best from lily pads. But pulled lots from deeper water as well.

Are your internal break adjusted on the opposite side of each other. Like if your going to use 2 put one on then the opposite side and leave the other two in. Had that issue with my old rapala baitcaster. Maybe a little oil wouldnt hurt either

Boomerang tool is awesome. Used to used berkley hot line cutter but the Boomerang tool out does that because I found wind would render heat up times. For 20 bucks its a awesome choice. Havent seem them before youtube them.

Thanks for the replies. I guess my question should have been what power/ action for top water fishing and what power/ action for soft plastics. I have a medium ardent fishofluge spinnging for the really light stuff like wacky rig ect. Any help would be great. Like a baitcaster better then spinning and got hooked.

Does anyone have the abu garcia teracity casting rod. Im getting new gear soon and that looks like a good rod but no reviews any where. If anyone has it what ypur thoughts are would be great

I just got hooked on topwater fishing this year, mostly on a Zoom Horny Toad. There a blast to fish.

I know Im a nnob on here but Ive been fishing since a small child, I love bait casters more so for crankbaits, top water, spinner bait, buzz baits, in deep weeds ect. I use my 6,6 with a 6.4.1 for anything not on top water, I peronally like 7.1.1 for topwater and frog fishing, but thats my style im comfortable with

I have had tramendous luck with a zara spook jr white in colour, Strike king Spit n King sexy crome blue back, and just about any colour Zoom horny toad on a horny toad hook or 5/0 ewg t rigged and skim across the water, tons of fun this way
