  1. The kind that catches bass....
  2. A 5 inch bass will hit a 5 inch trick worm...they're aggressive. I've heard many times of people catching big bass on small lures and small bass on big lures.
  3. Funny you say that I got my second lews reel today. They're great and easy on the wallet.
  4. Sounds like a good setup. I'll have to try that next time.
  5. Just because there are small fish doesn't necessarily mean there are big fish there...Although sometimes there could be. Larger bass are usually solitary...but will follow the food source just like the schooling fish. If there are a lot of bluegill like you said I would throw a larger swimbait that resembles a bluegill, work it just on top of the weeds. Also throw them something they haven't seen since it's pressured.
  6. Haha jellyman's post made me laugh a little too loud in an ihop. Anyway that looks like a good spot you found yourself. Follow what everyone is telling you and you should have success sooner or later.
  7. Kvd silent square bill ! Its my favorite crankbait. The square bill deflects cover very well which will help around the trees and cover. When the water is stained I have luck with the chartreuse black back.
  8. Good to hear you adapted to the situation at hand. I'll admit at times that's difficult for me but I'll work on it. Anyway it sounded like you had a great day ! Congrats
  9. If the water isn't changing more than 3 degrees I can't see how it'd change fishing that much but you never know.
  10. Sounds like a great day with great memories made !
  11. Yeah pretty much what Dwight said. I find it difficult to fish anywhere close to other people just because some cant really cast...but oh well they gotta learn someway, just not near me haha.
  12. I like to tie on my lures and have at least an idea of how I'm gonna fish the body of water but honestly I try not to over think it, I fish in the moment and try not to think of the future.
  13. Honestly I'd throw them anytime. Work them weightless around any visible cover. Sometimes changing up what you throw at the bass is a good thing.
  14. Never heard of it, but a cool looking fish. Kinda looks like a guadalupe bass.
  15. I was out fishing at a pond in the winter for trout and we were catching them every cast...nothing big, but fun on ul tackle. Before we got to the pond we noticed a red tail hawk perched in a tree. ..we started fishing and I hooked one, as I was reeling it in this hawk swoops down and grabs my trout. This happened 2 more times after another hawk decided to join the first one. Needless to say I Wasn't too upset, it was really cool to see. ive also fed a heron a bluegill and have had a snake take a bluegill from the end of my line
  16. This weekend my dad and I are renting a boat to do some bass fishing. I've fished on boats before but only with guides so I have zero experience with electronics although I can kinda read them. The boat I'm renting comes with a small, looks like a $100 depth/fish finder on it (I don't know the brand, sorry). My question was, where is the image that appears on the screen in relation to the boat ? I know there are things like side imaging and down imaging but this is a cheap little depth/fish finder. Is what's showing up on the screen directly below the boat ? Behind it ? Or what ? Any help would be appreciated.
  17. Looks like he had fun ! Good memories right there...
  18. Sounds like a great day. You cant beat topwater action !
  19. I finally caught my first fish on a drop shot rig ! Nothing huge..3 of them about 12in long but im happy i caught them on this rig since everyone swears by it. I found im more comfortable throwing the rig on baitcasting gear, i was using a baby brush hog on a 2/0 ewg hook with a 1/4oz weight about 9 inches from the bait. I was suprised i caught anything...the temp was in the high 90's and i was fishing in the afternoon but still a good day.
  20. I had the same problem drop shotting finesse worms until i switched to a baby brush hog...then i caught some.
  21. A lot of good looking baits that will probably end up in my tacklebox in the near future. Huge fan of strike king !!!
  22. Like evryone else has said, fan casting works. Also look for minor changes in the area youre fishishing and cast towards that.
  23. That is one thing I like about professional anglers, a lot of them are down to earth and nice guys. I remember meeting Alton Jones at a bass pro shop and he couldn't be more friendly.
  24. I think it's how subtle the senko is. It's hard for a bass to resist.
  25. Yeah I think its meant to catch fisherman more than fish
