  1. got my rage tail thumper worms a while ago and hit the nearest pond before dark, caught one little guy, not bad considering how cold it is, i've attached a pic of solid ice in my truck bed, LOL, only had about an hour to fish with these new baits, one fish out of two pulls, better than nothing this time of year. Well, I tried to attach a pic, says the file is too large so oh well.
  2. Just bought a pack of the 10" thumper worm in bama bug color, can't wait to test drive these, even though its chilly out, gander mountain should have it to me around Christmas Day. Thanks for the reviews.
  3. They will hit lots of your common largemouth lures and baits.
  4. I never call it a season, I just fish til it warms up again. LOL
  5. Oh well, thanks roadwarrior, now I'm goin to buy some. I've never used these.
  6. Still fishin here.
  7. I still chase bass, I pride myself on catching them in the cold, few and far between? Yes lol but I love it !
  8. X2 on what bluebasser said, plastics slow on bottom works for me in colder times
  9. read and watch everything you can; also, go with anyone you can to learn by hands on experiences; good luck and keep us posted on your success
  10. i did; 8lb on the nose; 24"
  11. This is called the learning process. You'll keep trying different things as you get tired of using things you've been using. Lots to try and learn. Good luck.
  12. Wouldn't argue with either or turn my nose up but I'd take the largemouth. Bigger fish all around and I've always wanted an 11+ lmb
  13. Soft plastics, spinners and topwater lures. Pumpkinseed and black plastics, black with red spinnerbaits and I like the frog colored ribbit frogs on topwater with a retrieve just fast enough to keep it on top barely. I like t-rigged plastics.
  14. these fish will hit anything that a bass will hit; live minnows with a split shot or live minnows under a float will work fine for them
  15. 14" and up is a nice fish; 16" is BIG; 18" and up is a monster; you can't really judge a crappie's weight solely on it's length simply because some are slim and some are thick; my biggest is 15", caught it on a Rapala Flat Rap cranking it wide open
  16. 1. What do you usually take when you go fishing? fishing gear 2. How far do you have to walk to get to your fishing spot? from 5ft-1/2mile 3. What kind of vehicle do you take when you go fishing? pickup truck 4. How many trips does it usaully take to get to your fishing spot? ??? 5. How long is your typical fishing outing? 1 hour to full day 6. How many beverages do you typically drink during the outing? 0-1 7. How many fishing poles do you take for an outing? 1-2
  17. the float and fly works great; sometimes i use a gulp cricket or gulp minnow instead of the fly too, catches anything that swims
  18. i'd take it anytime
  19. always had the best luck in the cold with a slow retreive no matter what the bait; plastics on the bottom SLOW rolled is my go to method; always try new things tho, this is the best way to learn
  20. plastics slow in the winter have done well for us; just let the fish tell you what they want; and learn from every trip and base your future tactics on what you've learned previously
  21. senile, i used to fish a pond identical to what your describing; never fish there anymore unless i just wanna catch a monster bluegill; also, some farm ponds do have big bass but after you put in all the time and work to find the ones that are actually maintained decently and fish all of them regularly enough to finally get a beast well then you deserve that fish, imo
