  1. your favorite plastics fished on bottom slowly is always my answer in the colder months, also lots of guys have good luck with jigs but not me yet, lol
  2. In my opinion largemouth and smallies will eat about the same baits/lures
  3. yep, i've done well on lots of colors on spinnerbaits, yellow, blue and white, but i love the black with red flakes, i throw buzzbaits here and there but i like the ribbit frogs better honestly
  4. I figured up north it would be completely opposite if anything. I figured the bass would bite more being more comfortable with the cold and smaller since the southern areas seem to have heavier fish. Go figure.
  5. I buy what I want. I work like she does, we buy what we want. If it doesn't cramp your wallets I don't see the big deal. Can't take it all with ya.
  6. Welcome, lots of info here. Good luck.
  7. Just bought a yak Saturday night, the best investment I've made so far.
  8. Happens to me all the time, answer a call, daydream, look off in the woods, bam! Bite every time. I personally don't think you can fish too slow, but too fast? Yes
  9. Fish more, be more patient while still learning.
  10. I'm still waiting on my first jig bass. Used footballs several times an got one pull that I could feel and that's it. Any special trailers that will help? I was using a Stanley's ribbit frog as a trailer when I got that one and only hit.
  11. Fishing at night is a good idea also, some of those fish get where they'll come out after the commotion has calmed to feed comfortably. Kind of like deer during deer season.
  12. Small fortune there. That's what I like about my yak, I can pick stuff outta trees and bushes and stuff like that. I try to pick up any trash and stuff when I'm out.
  13. Beetle spins, grubs, mini king spinnerbaits, inline spinners, plastics Fish still pools below faster water, fish wait there for food to wash down
  14. i wouldn't exclude early mornings or late evenings just because of the temps, the best advice would be to fish all the time you can and form you're own "most productive" strategy, i've caught tons in the mornings while it's still quite chilly, good luck
  15. here's the best fishing trip i've experienced so far http://www.ncangler.com/forums/threads/40327-Pb-largemouth-!!!
  16. Top water, plastics, spinnerbaits, cranks Anything can catch a bass in that season.
  17. You'll need to go to bigger size to filter out the non target fish for the most part. Strike king mini king spinnerbaits don't get snagged near as easily as inline spinners and any bass will hit them. 2"-3" grubs from sliders in baby bass color on kottonmouth jig heads are great too. I think plastic worms and lizards and craws will all work also.
  18. Small river smallie
  19. When you put your truck in 4x4 and cut through a super muddy field between Christmas dinners just to fish for 30 min at the closest pond before leaving to go to the next family gathering. LOL And wearing your newly received jeans, hoodie and everything else for the first time. HAHAHA Yep, I did this.
  20. Seems that when I user larger plastics that I have to give the fish time to actually take off with the bait before setting the hook at times. If not, some bass will pick up half of the bait and you'll miss the fish just because he doesn't have the hook in his mouth. Smaller plastics are different however, most of the times, they'll inhale these no matter the size of bass.
  21. Got mine Monday. I also noticed the lack of detail.
  22. I figured the smallies would kill em, afterall, there's not many fish that won't hit roadrunners.
  23. only fish i caught Saturday evening was probably 6ft from the bank, got two hits and one hookup on the ragetail thumper worm
  24. i let the bait sink and give it a few seconds to get to the bottom (watch the line, keep a good feel on your rod) if i don't get hit then, i'll very slowly pick my rod tip up and barely pick/drag the bait until my rod is basically straight up, after this if i don't get hit, i'll work the bait as usual back to me
  25. Anybody use these for smallies in rivers?? I've caught just about every species on them I think. Just haven't got them to the river yet. Thanks. Color suggestions are welcome too. I've done we'll with the all white and white and pink. Good fishing to you all and happy holidays.
