  1. I have a 7'1 MH fast and it's not as stiff as my 7ft MH Veritas was. For plastics and jigs even, the MH *** is IMO perfect.
  2. I say gimmick. I have some red eye shad that glow under a black light, so does that make them uv as well?
  3. Got oil on the ENDS of the spool shaft?
  4. That requires a special tool. Don't mess with that pin unless u have it.
  5. Ohhhhhh. Not sure WTH that could be. Sorry, Maybe the tension disc on that side is dry?
  6. You won't really be able to see the dirt. But a q tip with alcohol will show you.
  7. Could be the brake race is dirty and dry. Clean it with a q tip and alcohol and put a small dot of oil on a other and lightly coat the race. Should take care of it if thats the issue.
  8. Americanlegacyfishing gives u a $25 off code if u just sign up for their newsletter. Thats an *** for $75 and it's shipped free. Cant beat that with a stick.
  9. Gotta agree with the Crucial 7 mh med-fast crank bait rod. I looooooove mine.
  10. I've been doing well with lipless cranks and jigs so far. Not a thing on plastics yet or topwater.
  11. I think it's a good all around rod for everything but crank baits. Read reviews, google the *** and see what others say. I did a ton of research before I bought one, and also went to gandermountain to get some hands on time before I bought one. I never one person that had anything other than high praise for these rods. I have A buddy that liked mine so well, he bought 10 lol. He had St Croix rods and now only has 13s.
  12. Yes! They feel even lighter when you slap a reel on them because they balance out so well. I have a 7'1 mh that I had paired up with a new stx and you talk about light? Now I have chronarchs that are 7.6oz and even those balance out great on the ***.
  13. I'd rather have a lew's over those 2, though I have been Impressed by Okuma's gear.
  14. ***. Best 100 bucks you could ever spend on a rod. I've got a 7'1 mh fast and it's ridiculous how good it is.
  15. Has anyone used the j-will rocker jigs? I saw a ton on clearance at walmart the other day. Looked like they had a much bigger blade than zman or booyahs.
  16. Seriously though, the *** rods are where it's at. I know I keep pimping them, but they are just that good. This is coming from someone that owns 2 $160 Shimano crucial rods. They make a rod and action for anything you could wanna throw. They seriously fish like a much more expensive rod.
  17. I've gotta say, no preach how great the *** *** is. I just bought 2 Crucials, and IMO the *** blows them away. The way your reel will balance on the rod will make even a heavier reel feel much lighter. The guides are top quality, it's crazy sensitive, and the reel seat/trigger just feels great in your hand. Look around at reviews and you won't find one bad review. If you have a Gandermountain around where you live, go there and check them out. That's what I did, and that very day I had one ordered from TW. The *** owns the $100 Price point.
  18. I had this issue with my Gen 3 SX. My first STX felt like it was bound up right out of the box, but an exchange of that reel got me a flawless one. My S had been returned twice before the brakes started turning themselves on. I took it back to BPS a 3rd time, and got a Chronarch and just paid the difference. Out of all 3 Gen 3s I had, the STX was by far the best. I will note that the STX and the S were bought the week they actually came out, and the Gen 3 SX was purchased about 2 months ago, so any rolling changes Abu had to fix the thumb bar, or brake issue probably has been in effect for awhile so you may be able to get a problem free Revo now. The Revos are great reels IMO, but seems the QC has been off compared to Abu's Gen 2 offerings. I no longer own any Revos though, as once I got a Chronarch I couldn't go back to my Revos so I sold them off.
  19. Lews. As much as I liked my STX, there are just too many issues with the gen 3s.
  20. Then yeah, get the Curado. That's a pretty good deal IMO.
  21. The *** is a great rod. Fishes like a $200 rod.
  22. *** is a beast. You can't beat it, Especially at the $100 price point.
  23. I'm pretty sure your reel has the same brake system as a Gen 3 STX I had. If it is, then you should really only need 2 brake tabs on(opposite of each other)and set your spool tension accordingly for heavier baits. For lighter stuff, I would go all mags but that's just me or you could try only having one centrifugal brake on in combination with a low mag setting.
