  1. I use a Crucial 7'mh moderate-fast action rod for all of my cranking. I don't have any experience with the kvd rod on the water but I've handled one at bps. Rod was a tad heavy but nothing to write home about. For $50 U can't beat that deal.
  2. The Revo S/Veritas combo is great. I loved mine. I kept having issues with my Revo S though, with the last issue being that the brakes that you had turned off would turn themselves on during a cast and that would kill casting distance. I talked to an Abu rep and they are aware of the issue and claim that all reels that are at retail now have been fixed and the issue no longer persists. I got my S when they first came out. I believe it was the first week they became available, so the early ones always have little kinks in them that get worked out later, and according to Abu that is exactly the case. Like I said, that is a GREAT combo and it fishes amazing, and it's well worth the money. Just make sure you keep an eye on everything, and if any issues arise be sure to exchange it or contact Abu's customer service for help getting it fixed.
  3. www.bumpkinjigs.com has some and I can vouch for their quality, and they are pretty cheap. Got some killer football jigs and have some swim jigs on the way as well. Very pleased with them.
  4. I set the hook on everything, except lipless cranks. Just a small sweep for those, but all of my lipless crank fish usually hook themselves.
  5. I recently tried Dual locks on my RES and hated them. They made that lure have a much wider wobble that tying it to the split ring, and I ended up catching everything but bass. Stuck the split rings back on them, and now I'm starting to hammer the bass again. I wish I could find some dual locks are the same thickness of the split rings so I can use them without affecting the action. I did love being able to change out lures quickly though.
  6. I had the S, SX, and STX and the STX was the best of the bunch. Had the least problems out of that one too.
  7. I talked to Bantam1 about it, and he never heard of the issue but is sending me some rod shims. I'm gonna make a video and send it to him so he can see exactly what the issue is. It's weird it's only with the Crucial rods.
  8. I'd like to see Abu adopt a version of Shimano's VBS, as it seems those weights hold up pretty well.
  9. Well, the Lew's uses the same type of braking system as the Revo S and the Revo STX, and I can tell you that I had an issue with my S' braking system doing the same exact thing. I would contact Lew's customer service and get it fixed.
  10. I was unimpressed with the Premier when I looked at it. I liked the carbon fiber handle, but that was it. The STX has a better braking system, and is plenty light. No way could I justify the extra cost to get a Premier over an STX. I didn't find the Premier to be any smoother than the STX when I looked at them at BPS. I would read all of the threads about the Gen 3 Revos having issues though. I had an S, SX, and STX and ditched them all and Chronarchs. I had nothing but trouble out of my Revos.
  11. I feel everyone's pain that has had gen 3 Revo issues. I did away with that pain and bought a couple Shimano Chronarchs. So far so good.
  12. WalMart sells some Mustad split ring pliers that are branded with the KVD logo for around $8. Well worth the investment. Using a razor blade? You sir, are crazy.
  13. There is a small v shaped metal tab that is molded in the brake dial that rests in notches around where the brake dial rests in the side plate. Sounds like that tab broke loose.
  14. How do you guys find that the stock hooks aren't good enough? I use the living hell out of red eye shad, and have yet to lose a fish using the hooks that they come with. Same goes for all of my SK lures, including the 4 KVD 1.5s I have. I keep hearing they are junk, but have yet to see it.
  15. The reviews on TW are horrible. If you have any issues out of it, send that sucker back. They have the lefty version for $50 and I'm tempted to pull the trigger and at least give it a shot. Hope it works out well for you.
  16. Shimano Chronarch 200e5 if youre a righty or 201e5 If ur a lefty. Had my eye on one for awhile now. Chronarchs are great reels.
  17. Falcon Buccoo micros I hear are good.
  18. How'd you like the feel of the rod?
  19. Get a 7'ft MH fast action rod and you can do anything you need to do with it.
  20. This. The 7' MH is the "Swiss Army Knife" of fishing rods. It can do it all.
  21. Fireguy, just by the M and MH. These rods are so good, you'll end up buying more than one anyway lol.
  22. I have Booyahs and some Zman and haven't caught crap on any of them. Really wanting to test out that flexible hook on the Booyahs though if the d**n fish will ever bite it.
  23. A couple pros use them. Brent Chapman and Byron Velvick come to mind, but I think a few more do as well.
