  1. For that kind of money get a Lew's Tourney pro or a.....shimano chronarch. The gen 3 revos have poor qc. The Helios got a good review from tackletour so give that one a shot as well.
  2. You can't go wrong with the *** buddy.
  3. I use a 7' MH-mod-fast Shimano Crucial.
  4. The Abus this gen seem to be turds. I had an S, SX, and Stx and had issues from all 3. A few members have had issues with their winches as well.
  5. The rods I ordered from walmart were packed just as well as TW packs their rods. Guess they changed their packaging now?
  6. Go buy some Dri Fit shirts from Wal Mart for $8. They are amazing during the summer, don't stick to you, wick moisture away, and are just plain comfy.
  7. Any crank by Norman is a winner. Try out their new NXS line of cranks. Amazing quality and colors. You can't go wrong with any of their stuff.
  8. Shimano. I dumped all of my Revos because I had nothing but issues out of them. Not a hiccup with my Chronarchs. Abu really screwed the pooch with the Gen 3s.
  9. This. Best $100 you'll ever spend.
  10. If u know youre not gonna go over 3/4oz then yeah get a fast. It will load up better than an xf for the lighter stuff. Especially if u fish from the bank. If youre fishing from a boat get the xf.
  11. If u don't throw heavy 1oz Jigs much, get a fast. If u do, get an xf. I have an xf and have no issues casting plastics. I usually use 3/16 To 1/4oz weights.
  12. I Have an xf crucial and it's awesome. Go with the xf over the f.
  13. Love this stuff. I'd buy it by the gallon if they offered it.
  14. Shimano recommends you lightly lube the brake drum. And you're right. There's no comparison between a Chronarch and a PQ.
  15. My impressions of the Revos when I had them were not that they felt cheap, but that they felt "hollow". Especially my STX. Like you said though, the lighter weight of it gave me that feel. There was just nothing to them.
  16. This is me. I've turned into a "power fisherman" as KVD calls it. I love fishing cranks, so much so that I'm kicking myself for not getting Chronarch 201e5 when BPS had their 6 pay deal going. I have a really hard time fishing plastics and jigs now, and I have to really force myself to slow down.
  17. All questions regarding the casting distance of the Chronarch will be answered as soon as the first cast is made. I have yet to flush my bearings, because I'm getting some crazy distance right out of the box. I did clean off the spool shaft with some alcohol, since it had some grease on it but that's it. I have used Abu gear for the longest time, and one outing with my Chronarch and I promptly sold all of my Revos and got another Chronarch.
  18. I have the 7'MH mod-fast Crucial and I have yet to lose a fish on. Probably just jinxed myself, but yeah. I use #10 Yo Zuri hybrid. It has a little stretch but not much.
  19. Trilene XL used to be my line of choice. Never had 1 issue out of it. Do you have a damaged guide that was maybe cutting line?
  20. That's my home lake. They absolutely stay deep, or they suspend. Summer is absolutely brutal when it comes to catching fish on Douglas, especially during the day. I've had great luck at night fishing rocky banks or rocky islands with a shakey head and a black worm though. Day time calls for some 6XDs and long lining the lure to get it extra deep. Also, jigging spoons, and big jigs seem to produce pretty well. Douglas is tough though no matter how you slice it. The PAA guys had awesome luck with a YUM Flash Mob, so you may wanna give that a shot. Right now I've been doing well on a 1/2oz Red Eye Shad fishing it parallel to banks and across rocky points. The fish right now don't seem to be holding super deep, or suspending much right now. The lake level is really high right now, and it's brought them up just a tad. Hope this helps. If you figure something out, let me know. I'm always looking for tips on how to fish Douglas, as it's usually feast or famine.
  21. My nextreel may be a lew's. I really like my chronarchs buy I really wanna see what the fuss is about with the tourney pro.
  22. The GEN 3 SX is leaps and bounds easier to dial in than the GEN 2 was.
