Hunting Boots
Now that deer season ended where I live I am going to take advantage of the after season sales and buy some new boots. I want a boot that is waterproof for a decent amount of time and is breathable too. I am also looking for a pair I can wear both in bow season and late season. My feet got cold pretty easily, at least they did in my last boots which had 800g Thinsulate. I think I could wear a boot with more insulation during hotter weather if I wore a light sock underneath. Most of my hunting will be done sitting in a stand or standing on the ground. With all of that out of the way, do yall have any recommendations? My budget is $200 but I might be willing to go slightly over if I really like the boots. Thanks.

Shimano Chronarch Part Question
While doing routine maintanece on my Cronarch 200e6 I accidentally stripped the screw that holds the handle retainer in place. Does anyone by chance know the size of this screw? It is part number BNT4272. If I ordered a replacement online shipping would cost more than the part itself so I'm trying to find a similar screw locally. Thanks.

Swim Jigs?
My favorites are 4" and 5" curly tail grubs, and 4" soft plastic swimbaits. Some days I will throw a craw chunk on the back too. I'm sure almost anything that resembles a fleeing something will work.

First Turkey Hunt
Spring Gobbler season just started here in Virginia today so I decided go to the club that I belong to for my first turkey hunt. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to bag a bird. But I was able to talk to one for about 30 minutes before a random dog came on our property and started barking and shut the bird up. Man, hearing that gobble on my first turkey hunt and actually keeping him gobbling really gets your heart pumping! Maybe i'll getem next time i'm out .

Left Handed Baitcasting
All left handed here, and i'm a righty. No doubt it saves time casting. I broke my left elbow and ever since then it pops whenever I move it past a certain point. When I would use right handed reels and set the hook with my left arm it put a lot of stress on my elbow and didn't feel good. Using a lefty keeps most of the pressure on my right elbow. Only problem is some reel companies only make reels with right hand retrieve in some models and gear ratios.

Filling Spool With Backing. How To?
This is how I do it- First I put my mono through the last guide by my reel seat and through the line guide, and wrap it around the spool 3 or 4 times. Tie it to the spool with a simple Arbor knot and trim off your tag end. Normally I will fill my reels with mono until I can no longer see the spool, but it can fluctuate depending on how much main line I want to have. When i'm satisfied with the amount of mono I have I will cut the mono and tie my double uni knot to my braid. Fill up the rest of the spool with your braid. Don't overfill, I generally leave a 1/16 to 1/8 inch gap between my line and the top of my spool.

Anyone Use Fitzgerald Flippin Rods?
I was looking at them too. I like the look of them but I wasn't going to really consider one for my next purchase until I see more reviews... one on Tackle Tour would be nice.

Any Fishing This Easter???
Caught about 13 today at a small pond. Biggest one was about 5 or 6 pounds. Most were on a swim jig but a few bit a jig that was pitched toward them.

Killer Tube Rig
Used a similar rigging on a BBB Warmouth, when it falls it looks exactly like a dying shad or bluegill. I'll have to try it out with some tubes.

1Oz Jigs
Deep water, windy days, when the fish prefer a faster fall, flipping thick stuff, etc. Those are just a few that come to mind. Jigs are pretty versatile.

Water Thermometer
I use one from an old aquarium. It is an electric model with about 2 feet of wire that you dip in the water and it reads the temp instantly in fahrenheit or degrees celsius. It is only 2 inches wide or so and runs on a button battery. You should be able to get it at any pet store for a couple bucks.

Oh Braid Where Have You Been
On the Nanofil note, I have mixed feelings about it. The pro's being that it casts great and has excellent sensitivity. However, the line does have some memory (even when I treated it with KVD Line and Lure), not much abrasion resistance, and if you aren't extra careful with your knots it slips easily. I am eager to try the Kaizen. I like Power Pro but recently placed an order for some Tuf-Line so we will see.

What new tackle are you testing this season? I plan on trying some stuff from Rage Tail line to see why everyone is talking about them.

Northstar Swim Jig - New Gill
True. A swim jig is basically a spinnerbait without the blades. Like to throw mine around thick grass. That New Gill color really looks nice! I also like the look of Bull Gill. Both look killer for spawn but I can't find any...
