  1. Thread wasn't a mistake at all if you learned something from it......
  2. I think it is more learn what you can from others and practice those techniques. Someone can tell you what a hit on a texas rigged plastic feels like but even with that knowledge you will still miss fish until you experience it yourself.
  3. It was a good interview....now if RGIII could pay attention and learn from the veterans..... I almost feel bad for the Raiders in this game but they are giving it a whirl. I will definitely be watching that first KC Denver game and will be pulling for the big walrus to win.....or maybe reid is just prepping himself to be the kool-aid man for halloween this year......
  4. My biggest one is that fly rods are only for trout and there is no way you can catch a large fish on one of those "noodle rods"
  5. Cork on fly rods synthetic on conventional set ups.
  6. making my argument even better.....no doctor or dentist i know or would want to be involved with would call any type of "dipping" a smarter option. anyways we all do dumb stuff as kids and we all didn't listen to older people telling us to do otherwise and i don't see you as being any different which is fine. I just hope that the lesson to be learned doesn't manifest itself in some of the more dire results.
  7. Another pedal drive boat to look at is the Native Mariner 12.5. I believe it has a 500lb or so capacity.
  8. I think it is funny that all the negative reports on trokar is because they do their job better....hooks are designed to penetrate and if it gets hung up in a tree or shreds your plastic isn't it just doing it's job? Really there are a ton of good hooks out there and all it takes is one bad experience for fishermen in general to disregarda product....for me it is quantum. I had one bad experience and vowed to never buy another and i haven't, even though they may have some good products out there
  9. Justification doesn't change that it is illegal. I would probably also be looking for a new dentist if they recommended a different type instead of saying quit completely.
  10. yeah that is true but the people i know who have unlocked their iPhone have had a bunch of problems and I believe it voids your warranty too.
  11. Jailbreaking an iPhone isn't worth it, just keep your droid. I will also echo the comment of getting the 5s. I am about to upgrade mine and will be getting the 5s myself.
  12. yup and the larger stores will have their own bar codes as well to prevent people from returning an item to a different store than they bought it.
  13. Hmmmm not sure i can buy any of what you stated really. I have fished out of both canoes and kayaks for a while now. I have never seen a canoe that was faster than just about any kayak unless you are comparing some racing canoe to a super stable kayak. Accessibility to gear is totally a preference as i have no trouble carrying all my gear and accessing anything i need and that can include up to 5 conventional rods or at times 3 fly rods and all the accompanying gear. You also have to factor in the safety factor of a SOT over a canoe. A canoe can get swamped and is not the easiest thing to re-enter should something happen and you need to doe a deepwater entry. In a SOT this is much much easier and since the boat is self draining it also is safer. Middle of the road canoe to middle of the road kayak the kayak will win 99% of the time assuming paddler skill is comparable. In the kayak world there are actually very few kayaks that are designed solely for fishing as the majority are rec boats. Maybe 10 years ago you couldn't find a kayak that you can change positions in but those days are long gone. I can name 5-10 different boats right off the top of my head that are stable enough for standing, changing positions and most have a higher seat position that is helpful for those with bad backs. I am not writing all this to rip canoes as i know plenty of people love their canoes and have them set up pretty sweet for river and for flatwater style of fishing but the generalizations that were made were comparing apples to oranges as far as boat styles go.
  14. When i fish for browns, which i do pretty often, i take my smallmouth fly box. they are bigger meat eaters than the other species and will readily hit larger batis. They have softer mouths so a hero hookset isn't really necessary.
  15. I have seen the 4 strike out inning before and the 4 out inning is relatively common all things considered. Baseball stats are part of what makes it so awesome.
  16. Wait....aren't you the one who posted up about the bass raider and mentioned you are a junior in high school? I always thought you had to be 18 to buy the stuff so unless you failed a few times technically what you are doing is illegal even though i know it is a common practice.....
  17. We do too.....the fans were throwing snowballs at a replacement santa who was drunk and deserved every snowball that he got hit with......lol I just wish i was there for it. People also forget how when the bin laden story broke, a lot of people found out because the phillies were playing a prime time game and the chant of USA, USA broke out over the stadium. I had a friend there and many didn't even know why people were chanting but it didn't matter because it was USA....they then put it up on the score board.
  18. In general philly fans are very tolerant. They will argue till they are blue in the face and stand up for their team for sure but will also be the first one to critique their own, just ask McNabb and Reid....The media blows out of proportion all the philly stuff really. I have been to games all up and down the east coast for all different sports and the worst fans for being douchebags were the skins fans at fed ex....and this was not an isolated incident but pretty much every game i have been tom which is 4 now the results are the same. It is like if you have a sister....you can yell at her, call her names all you want but if someone else said the same thing it wouldn't be pretty
  19. I went and finally read the article and it is not a great article at all and i hesitate to say it is an article as it is totally an opinion piece, more like an editorial. There are extremists in every group from those who bomb abortion clinics, to PETA, to those who murder in the name of their religion. I am a pretty tolerant guy and can even handle more extreme measures than the next guy. You can talk and hand me flyers all you want. I take that as a learning opportunity for me and my family and go from there. Now if things were to get physical it would be a different story but that rarely, if ever happens. I have also read that many of the instances where someone is doused with paint or whatever it is actually staged by PETA to get a reaction, and sure enough it did. Also keep in mind most people only think of something as propaganda if it is something they don't agree with because if they do it is considered the "facts"....
  20. I like trokars and buy them when they are on sale every spring at BPS but i don't hesitate to throw a gammy either.
  21. I am confused in your first post you say a long cast is 90-100ft and is difficult to get a hookset yet in a subsequent post you mention your average cast when jig fishing is 90-100'. Sounds a little contradictory to me if you are trying to make an argument about a shorter cast equaling more fish in the boat.
  22. so true...look at the bashing michael vick got for dog fighting with protests, rallies etc but not a thing about donte stallworth, ray lewis, dez bryant etc...
  23. PETA when originally started was a good grass roots organization. While i may not have agreed with the majority of their stances i could see where they were coming from and respect their choices. Fast forward a few years and it has become a sensationalized media grabbing machine whose intent is really muddied. I have friends who were active participants and have since left because of the shift. As long as they don't harm me or my family i coul care less because as you stated, their influence really isn't there anymore.
  24. Reid drafted pretty much every player on that field so he knew how to disrupt the offense no matter what style was being played. The eagles played sloppy on offense and it isn't going to get any easier with denver playing next week. I also wonder how much of a difference it makes that the eagles played monday night week 1, then sunday then thursday. Yeah i know it is only one day but it is one less day to heal and prepare. The defense did look ok but they still can't tackle and can't stop on 3rd and long worth a crap.
  25. I am not saying it isn't an option all I am saying is give paddling a shot. If you really want a trolling motor boat then a Jon boat may be better As far as standing up goes, absolutely. I have a commander 120 and stand probably 70% of the time I am fishing. The other great thing about standing is it allows you to stretch out a little and change positions. And yeah it can handle dragging through woods no problem. I drag mine everywhere including concrete boat ramps at times and haven't spring a leak yet.
