Need A Backpack, Single Strap / Cross Shoulder
Well I guess that is all relative. I paid around 90 for my first one about 15 years ago and it has been through more abuse than anything I own and it is still going strong. This includes commuting 30 miles round trip on my road bike for about 2 years, rain or shine. I have used mine wading as well and there is a good bit of adjustability to allow the bag to ride up higher on your back when needed.

Fly Fishing Kits?
Just switch right to left and left to right and the same concepts apply

Need A Backpack, Single Strap / Cross Shoulder
I use timbuk2 bags for cycling and they are awesome and do work well for fishing too. They are also customizable to pretty much whatever you want to do.

Buying A New Kayak!
I have a coosa and it works for standing but if I was flipping docks and that was my preferred method I would go hybrid of some sort. Having your feet below the waterline when standing makes a world of difference

Fly Fishing Kits?
Yeah you can but it is more hassle than its worth in my opinion. You also have to hold the fish with the right hand while you reel the slack in with the left which can lead to lost fish. Generally you strip the line in with the lest hand hole holding the line tight to the rod with your right (assuming you are casting with your right hand).

Buying A New Kayak!
If you bump to a grand you have a plethora of options. The tarpon is a great boat but I haven't seen anyone who was able to stand and fish out of one. I have a commander for flat water and that thing is a stable as a dock and if you sit in the captains perch you have a great raised seating position. They also would probably be one of the easier boats to rig a trolling motor too. The slide read also makes setting up rod holders, anchor trolleys and depth finders pretty easy.

Fly Fishing Kits?
Here is what I recommend on breakdown once you move up....spend 60-70% of your budget on the rod, 20% on line and 10% or less on the reel. In freshwater you will rarely of ever use the reel. I have used the reel on my rods maybe 4-5 times in over 15 years of fly fishing. The few times I have used the reel was when I targeted species to heavy for the gear I was using and usually involved chasing carp. Reels are a beautiful thing though and keep an eye on www.sierratradingpost.com for reels as they have great deals on there from time to time

Buying A New Kayak!
In that price range and wanting to stand you are going to have to look used as you still have to get a pfd and a paddle. I would keep an eye out for a wilderness systems commander, native ultimate or an ok big game (I think that's the model) as they are all able to be stood up in.

Fly Fishing Kits?
It sounds like you are set on that set up so go get it and see what you think. I would say to read and watch you tube videos on casting and practice that before you go out. If you can make a decent cast and learn a little about line management you will have a much more enjoyable first time out.

How Many Elites Are Elites
Anyone who is on the tour is elite. Just like any professional sport if you make it to the highest level you are in the upper echelon of your sport. There will always be those who excel there but if you think about how many people fish and how many are able to compete professionally an make a career I would bet it is even lower odds than the other professional sports.

Fly Fishing Kits?
Those kits are worthless in my opinion and while I completely understand not wanting to shell out big bucks to try something I can tell you that fishing the Walmart special will not help you in learning to fly fish. Go down to your local fly shop and give them a budget and see what they can do to help out, you might be surprised at what they can give you and the personal advice and connection will help tremendously.

3 Am...up And Skipping Work
Of course....I did it even more frequently in college which may or may not have contributed to why it took 10 years to graduate all those years I took off from school were totally worth it.

The Pennants Are Flying, As Is The Trash, And Apparently There Is A Team In Houston
And that whole competitive balance thing is dumb....the brewers were decent not to long ago and if I remember correctly don't they have one of the wealthiest owners on all of the game? I mean it is like all these restaurant shows where they fix a flailing place. You are rewarding those who suck.... All that being said just remember last year the phillies were 16 games under .500 at this point last season and ended at .500....there is still a chance they can overtake the braves who had an incredible start and have been playing .500 ball vet since.

Live Minnows Or Artificial Bait
But not for bass....catching big bass on live bait isn't super easy as people claim. Yeah you can catch smaller bass but to truly understand live bait fishing is not an overnight deal. And most kids start out fishing for panfish which is easier to catch with live bait. I would imagine that the tournaments choose not to use live bait because there is a greater chance of injury to the fish.

Have You Ever Been Confronted While Fishing By...
You are assuming that what you say is the truth....anyways it really doesn't matter because like has been said 99% aren't willing to listen to another side as their minds are made up
-
Have You Ever Been Confronted While Fishing By...
And this is exactly why people are at odds with each other. An attitude where only your way is right and there is no way any truth can be elsewhere. I am always willing to listen to other arguments and have even changed my stance on things which I feel makes me a better person

Live Minnows Or Artificial Bait
Not true at all....so by your schewed rationale all the record hooks should be wiped clean of those who used live bait?
-
Live Minnows Or Artificial Bait
live bait is more consistent but to be an accomplished love bait fisherman isn't nearly the toss out a minnow in the middle of the lake as has been mentioned. There is plenty of strategy and rigging an technique involved but most bass fishermen become snobs and act like live bait is cheating....I would bet 95+% of people on this forum started fishing with live bait for panfish.

Have You Ever Been Confronted While Fishing By...
Never have but I didn't see anything in that article that isn't true and probably all things we have witnessed or done. We can only do the best we can to keep fish healthy and teach others the same practices if they are unaware.
