  1. THey are only discriminated against in the lower price points. I do have to say though that after trying the BPS PQ i am very impressed. THey have the same gear ratios for lefties as righties and will msot likely be the reels i buy when it is time to replace. For now, i am pretty good though with my citicas and one PQ i got for cranking in the 4.7:1
  2. Just like the nationals and what i have called the Strasburg curse sicne he was pulled last year.....to know you give a guy an innings limit but not manage him so he can pitch all year assuming you will be back next year is not looked highly upon by the baseball gods OH, and how about Lanan. 8 innings of 4 hit shutout ball and a nice long stare into the Nationals dugout as he walked off the field
  3. Roland Martin was a pioneer in the sport and i know a few people who have talked to him and they said he was the nicest guy and gave them some pointers too. Bottom line is who cares really......get them both
  4. Cleaning it up and using it probably diminished what little value it may have or build up to. Most collectors want the original finish and patina that is built up over the years.
  5. There was some debate as the rules are not super specific. There are rod lenght limits but pretty much every manufacturer makes a rod that is 8' or under for bass fishing. " Only ONE casting, spin casting or spinning rod (8 foot maximum length from butt of handle to rod tip) and reel may be used at any one time." I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed ot be used other than when bass are shallow a fly rod is proibably the best tool to pick apart the existing cover and land fish. For me, once it gets deeper than 5-6 feet it just isn't as much fun anymore so i move to conventional gear.
  6. Trying to figure that out myself....I have heard of horror stories of changing spark plugs on teh ford motors but like they said above, let the dealership do it. There are special tools that are needed and with the right stuff it isn't to bad. Cracking a spark plug in the block is not a fun thing to get out...did it on my old Jeep once now every time i replace spark plugs they get anti-seize.
  7. Interesting. I never knew they had air lockers in there as i thought they were all electric.
  8. The Rubicon does come standard with selectable lockers and they are electric lockers not air lockers and not available on other models. You can get the LSD on pretty much every model which will do just fine for the majority of people anyways and you will not be required to be in 4WL to use it.
  9. Tundra's are pretty sweet. I know 2 people with them and never heard them complain. Resale value is really high on toyota trucks as well.
  10. A limited slip differential in the back will help out and have good road manners without having to get a selectable locker. Really you don't need a selectable in the front unless you are doing serious rock crawling. A generic 4wd with a LSD or a selectable locker will do you just fine. THere are quite a few vehicles that have a selectable locker like wranglers or tacomas. I have a 4 door wangler but don't tow a boat but i do have a friend who save a couple of thousand when he bought his tundra by getting a 2wd and he always says he should have went with 4wd.
  11. Accidents are part of the sport and the majority seem to be helped along I remember when Lance was competing he had to avoid a wreck and basically went offroading on his 20k+ road bike and then got right back on the road like it was nothing. I know i saw a guy this year jump up a curb on to the sidewalk then back into the peloton like ti was nothing. The bikes are surprisingly durable even though they are very lightweight.
  12. Yeah the packs of fools who take over the roads get to me too. They always tell me well we have the right of way and my response is always the same. I may have the right of way but getting hit by a car when i am "right" really doesn't matter when i am laid up in the hospital, not to mention it is just rude. And don't joke about the car door. A few of the scariest times on my bke while commuting ot work were when people would open their car doors as i was cruising past or walk about between parked cars. Had to swerve more than once to avoid a serious collision. When i was training for my first MS150 charity ride i always rode by myself. A buddy of mine was riding it too but our training schedules could never synch up but when we rode on teh actual event it was crazy to me how much drafting helps out. I always heard that it was so much easier blah blah blah. Well not only is it way easier to draft it is actually more work to pull someone along which i had to do a lot because he didn't train nearly as much as he should have. WIth about 15 miles t o go i told him he was on his own cause it was driving me nuts to keep the slower speed he needed.
  13. Not sure what type of bike you have but on a road bike 9 miles is not that bad at all unless it is super steep hills. I used to bike to work which was anywhere from 15-20 miles one way depending on the route taken and it really didn't take that much more time than driving....basically went from about 25-45 minutes on the commute. I really need to get back into it though because every time i cut my grass and see my bike sitting there i know i should ride more often.
  14. I am just getting back into cycling myself. Once my son was born 3 years ago it cut into my riding time but now he is older so it is slowly giving me back some time As far as bikes cost go, in college it was pretty common for us to have either mountain or road bikes on the racks of our cars that tripled or quadrupled the value of he car hauling them. I do thin they are cleaning it up but it still amazes me how many people get caught, kind of like baseball. You know you are going to get tested and you know you will fail but i guess if my career was on the line i might take the extreme measures these guys do too.
  15. I have really focused on jig fishing this year too and have had some success but nothing spectacular other than a ncie one caught on new year's day. What i have really tried to do though is learn what the jig feels like as it moves through various types of cover. If i am fishing rock or downed trees or grass etc...i throw a jig and work it slow to see how it feels going through the cover. I then throw the same weight jig with a different head style and see how that feels as it moves through the cover. Now i have caught some fish this way but more importantly i am learning how a jig feels when moving through cover. I am pretty sure the fish will come as i use the jig more often and gain confidence.
  16. Yeah Pence was an awesome fit in Philly and Revere is picking it up somewhat, just has no power or arm. Pence, Brown and Victorino would have been a pretty good outfield.
  17. Haven't heard anything more on Howard's health but he was just starting ot turn around, as he usually does in july. I almost wonder if him losing weight has led to his injuries. He was pretty much rock solid until he blew out his achilles which was after a long season and him getting into better shape. This might be a move just to get Ruff some time to see what he can do up in the big leagues. Amaro is hte reason this team stinks.....he has totally disregarded the offensive side of the game. Starting pitching is fine but when you can't score more than 3 runs a game you are screwed. I know some of the players are getting older and should be performing better but there was an opportunity with them needing a 3rd basemen and two outfielders and he blew it. Anyways.....the phillies will win this game today hopefully then probably the series against the nationals just so they can give me some hope and then lose 15 straight to crush my hopes back to where they belong...
  18. Well i know the guys look ridiculous in their skin tight "kits" but what these guys can accomplish is pretty amazing. I like to ride when i can and seeing these guys compete is ridiculous. My favorite stage so far has been the team time trial. To think these guys can pedal at over 40mph is crazy and then get up and do it again the next day is beyond belief. I know the sport is dirtier than anything else out there but to ride over 2k miles in 3 weeks is an accomplishment all to itself but to actually do it and race the entire time is pretty crazy too.
  19. That is crazy but someone will buy it and all it will take is one pro to use it and do well in a big tourney and they will fly off the shelves.
  20. Caught 13 fish on 13 consecutive casts while flyfishing for bass.....unfortunately only 2 were bass and the rest sunnies but it was still cool.
  21. To play devil's advocate here....all it would take is someone to find another river with a rope swing that looks somewhat similar and produce some reasonable doubt. Now the tag, if legible from the pic, would be able to determine potentially where the fish was speared.
  22. Any lightweight nylon/quick dry pants will work. My preference is mountain hardwear and I also hate zip offs. It's one of those things that seems cool and you will use often but I never do. I tried them in the yak and depending on your seat the leg zipper may get in the way. They are good for lightweight traveling though.
  23. It's probably hard to determine where he is fishing and when the fish were harvested hence the reason for lack of involvement. It is pretty crappy though and I am surprised he was able to get that many bass.....they seem to spook in clear water pretty quickly.
  24. Mccarver.....sucks and so does Matthews really. I think kruk and Williams actually do a pretty good job of analysis which I think comes from not being a stud and working hard and seeing how things go from that perspective. They also aren't homers either. If you want some bad broadcasters though listen to the nationals.....I have to mute them when they are on.
