  1. Agree totally and will add that just because you are a parent/adult doesn't mean you get respect. Sure there are certain aspects of respect that are garnered by being in authority but in general i don't ask my son to do anything i wouldn't do or in a manner i wouldn't do it myself. I just hope my parenting works out like i want
  2. I don't get it either but kids do dumb stuff when nobody is looking, well nobody they know is looking. And you never get respect by "beating" a kid, what you get is fear which are completley different animals. I was spanked growing up but not beaten and i respected my dad for reasons that had nothing to do with the fear of being spanked. My soon to be 3 year old is learning how to respect people and things and above all else himself.
  3. HY- You need to stop posting all these sweet videos of your PA.....You are making me want one but with the purchase of a new vehicle in my immediate future i jsut can't swing it unless of course i sold all my fishing gear at which point the yak would be worthless
  4. I had a friend who swore by crushing up aspirin in a little bit of water to make a paste and put it on the affected area. His claim was it went straight to the area and relieved the pain almost instantly. never tried it but i can't imagine it would taste to good.....so stick with the Whiskey treatment mentioned above
  5. Yup what they said......I have never found a need for them on any of my shimano spinning reels so they get put in the parts bin with everything else.
  6. If you have a crankbait specific rod the braid having no stretch is not really a factor in my experience. Now if you are not using a parabolic bending rod then mono or flouro would be a better choice. I know that with the 8lb diameter braid and throwing a DT8 i can consistently scrape the bottom in 8-9 feet of water so my theory is the lower diameter is helping to cut through the water better than a larger diameter line.
  7. I used to back up my dad's empty boat trailer when i was 16 and he always told me back it up and realize when you can't see it is right behind you and adjust accordingly when it comes into view and keep your hand on the bottom of the wheel and turn towards the direction you want the trailer to go. Seemed to work but that was 20 years ago and my skills have since deteriorated
  8. I am not in the manufacturing world which is where the majority of people think when six sigma is brought up. I actually work for a large bank in digital operations so i get to deal with both IT related processes and contact center stuff. Keeps my life interesting. I actually started as a phone agent in customer service and worked my way up to where i am now and got a few project and process certifications along the way.
  9. Black jitterbug for me....
  10. I am a process engineer and it is alright but your normal corporate America problems and perks. I enjoy analyzing data and solving problems so it fits the bill. My advice is don't worry about money as much but find something you enjoy and figure out how to make a career. For me while I am not 100% happy it pays the bills, gives me good vacation time and I can support my family and hobbies so I can deal with the negative side of the equation.
  11. I looked at the harbor freight trailers and was debating on those too. Guess I need to do a little more research and determine what I want to do. The idea of getting a trailer that is already set up and ready to go is pretty appealing though.
  12. I have the rage for those same techniques and it is great. Remember it is the same blank as the avid but about 40-50 less.
  13. I use 8lb diameter power pro super slick myself and am very pleased with the performance.
  14. Iaconelli used to put them on his dashboard to fade them now rapala just makes them in a matte finish to start with....but I have never done it. They get beat up all on their own.
  15. Certain things shouldn't be made in certain sizes....mini skirts, yoga pants and man thongs in ANY size.....
  16. I have had the most success with lighter tipper fly gear and Adams flies myself. They will feed on top and when they are they are the easiest to catch. I used to have a last catching them on my 4wt with 5lb tippet. I have had fish take me into my backing multiple times.
  17. So I am a kayak guy and am about to pull the trigger on a new wrangler and am debating on going with a trailer or a roof rack. I have virtually no experience towing a trailer so I am wondering how hard it is to learn and if there are any pointers you guys and gals would be willing to share. I a still on the fence if I want a trailer and the cost is a factor but not a huge one as I know a trailer can be used for other things as well even though I am looking st one of the malone sport trailers. Thanks in advance.
  18. I have been throwing a swim jig pretty often here lately and have caught 2-1 pickerel to bass. I have caught them on pretty much every bait I use for bass but it really seems like they love buzzbaits in my neck of the woods.
  19. Welcome aboard and i totally agree that living in the central VA area we are blessed to have lots of good places for kayak fishing both lakes and rivers.
  20. I have never seen or used a telescoping rod so no advice other than go get another Kistler.....I have a kistler helium and they are now on sale for today only apparently.... http://www.kistlerrods.com/
  21. You can use a palomar and after making the loop work the standing line down some and you can minimize the excess. It is rarely a concern for me though because I use snaps and tie direct with a palomar.
  22. Went with a $150 gift certificate to her hair salon myself.....now she can get her hair all did up without worrying about paying for it.
  23. Gotta go with a fluke. You can fish any area of the water column, any type of cover, any speed and it will catch fish year round, I will say it does better though in water that is 12' or less though.
  24. Yes there is...
