Joining The Kayak Crowd.
Welcome to the kayak crowd. That is a sharp looking boat for sure. One word of advice is not rig anything up until you get a few trips in and figure out where you really want stuff mounted. Enjoy your new boat and ask any questions as there are quite a few yakers on the board to help out.

Out With The Old...
I don't think it is lucky but i wear my phillies fitted hat every time i go out. This one has about 2 years on it and it replaced my old school phillies hat....baby blue and maroon logo. I need to look at getting a replacement in the works though because it takes some time for me to break in a hat to the point where it is comfortable.

Wife/girlfriend Fishing Rod?
That was way to many ya'alls for one post .....i would say if she likes and uses your spinning gear then get her a spinning set up of pretty much whatever she wants. My better half doesn't fish so i haven't had to worry about buying any rods yet and my checkbook is thanking me....

Need Your Input On Swimbaits
I am by no means a swimbait master like others on here but i do throw soft hollow bellied swimbaits pretty often. My favorite is the yum money minnow in the 5" size rigged on a 6/0 weighted screw lock hook. I throw them pretty much everywhere and they come through grass and lilly pads very well. One of my favorite and most succesful techniques is to fish them above a grass bed and keep the speed up just enough so that you can feel them ticking the top of hte grass as you go. I throw mine on a 7'MHF rod paired with a citica and 50lb braid. I could see using a heavy action rod too which would probably be a little better. I also slather mine up with the BioEdge scent wands which seem to help them in sliding through vegetation. I would say throw them wherever you would throw a spinnerbait or a swim jig and go with it.

Most Underused Fishing Resource?
If they are really 6+ plus then you need to target them because that sounds like world record category....And carp are a blast to catch and probably the hardest fighting freshwater fish out there.... As far as underused fishing resource goes i will go with the knowledge from others that have been fishing longer than you. There is so much to learn and, speaking for myself too, we all have a tendency to think we know what is happening and the best approach.

I Would Like To Get A Sponsorship
Not a problem dude. Just make sure you get others to read and re read and re read again all of your information. Just make sure you are involved in determining the content. Not everyone is a great writer and even fewer are good at writing resumes because you generally don't write them to often. Just keep at it and I am sure most people here will be willing to help out wherever possible.

Kids Vs. Adults ... Sigh
Criticism is a tough thing to both give and receive but it is up to the recipient to take long hard look at what is being said, not how it is being delivered and determine if there is anything to learn.
-
Kids Vs. Adults ... Sigh
I haven't seen any bashing on here either. If you are referring to criticism in resumes and cover letters that is not bashing. It is based on experience that only comes from making mistakes on our own and hoping others can learn from and not have the same trouble. Taking criticism and learning from it is something that will benefit you no matter what your age or career path and separates the top performers from the status quo.

New Big O Jig Colors!!!
Looks good!!! I will be making another order in the near future and these will be on the list.

Depth Finder Or Tm?
Yeah I would say being new to kayaking that you will get the hang of holding position. You also have to consider if your state requires registration if you put a trolling motor on there too. Anchor trolleys are great as are stake out poles which is what I use most times as long as the water is about 5' or less.

Go Big Or Go Home Vs. Catch My 5 And Then Go For Glory ...
Well I am not a tourney fisherman so you can take this for exactly what you paid for it....I would say go for 5 keepers then go for the larger bass. Now if this is a lake you know well and are confident in your ability to get those 5 larger fish then by all means go,for it but otherwise five smaller keepers are better than almost catching the big ones

I Would Like To Get A Sponsorship
Yeah I would rewrite this cover letter. To be honest, it is difficult to read and understand what point you are trying to get across. Work on creating a résumé as well as this cover letter is only one small, piece to the puzzle....

Fishing Fl Canals Behind People's Homes, Legal?
Call either the local PD of game and fisheries department but ultimately it doesn't matter to much because people will get mad either way. You did the right thing though by not aggravating the situation even more and just moved along.

Boat Parts Theive
So you were standing there filming him, I am confused as to how the video zoomed in and out with you not being there. Anyways I know in va a landlord has to give at least 24 hours notice before a visit unless there is an emergency which requires them to access the premises.

Spinning Reel/rod
I currently am using a st croix rage 6'8" MXF paired with a Stradic FH for the exact presentations you mentioned and have been very pleased with the combo.

When Do You Start Throwing Top Water
Caught one in 52 degree water on a dalhberg diver frog a few weeks ago so I would say chuck away....never hurts to try and a different bait is only a lure change away.

Forced Perspective Fish Photos
I am with you on this one as well. I also think it is a conscious effort to hold the fish out in such a way that really isn't natural. In all my fish picks I try to hold the fish close to my body to show relative size in comparison to my body.

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
I went out yesterday from about 11:30-4:30. Water temps were in the low 70's, windy and pollen covered the water. Did scrounge up 3 bass and one pickerel with the one bass measuring in at 21" so all in all a good day and better than I thought it would be given the cold front that rolled through and the dip in air temperature.

Decent Spinning Reel Suggestions
Shimano Sahara is also a nice reel for a good price. Honestly I don't think you can get a bad reel in the 60-100 range from pretty much any major manufacturer.

Which Kayak
See, I told you a hobie pro staffer would chime in

Fly Fishing For Bass
And actually the rods aren't advertised as legal to use in tourneys but rather that they meet the length requirements semantics at its finest I guess....

Which Kayak
Yeah weight is a big consideration as is the cost. Unless you have shoulder problems, plan on traveling long distances or fish the saltwater where you fight current and tides you might be better off looking at a paddle boat. For the same money you spend on a hobie you can easily get another kayak and outfit it to the tee with top of line electronics and still have gas money. The other consideration is how are you going to transport the boat. I have seen people cartop the PA but it is more of a process than a lighter boat. There is also the native mariner which is also a pedal drive boat that is cheaper and uses a different pedal motion than the hobie, more of a recumbent bike style. There are so many good boats out there you would do yourself best by getting to a demo days and sampling a few different boats. There is at least hobie pro staffer who frequents the board and I am sure he will chime in as well..
