  1. I use my fly fishing chest pack when wading and it does a nice job. There are lots out there so just be sure to get one that fits your desired tackle box sizes and you will be golden.
  2. Nice fish and i wil lecho the comment that trout are not nearly as hardy a fish as bass are. Unless i want a picture i usually leave them in the water and unhook there. Also be sure to really wet your hands because trout have much more slime than bass do and wiping it off can really hurt them. Maybe i will have to go chase some trout next weekend
  3. i have a hybrid boat, wilderness systems commander, which is basically a small canoe and i love it. I can stand and fish all day long and it paddles pretty well from the captains perch or even better down in the seat. Works very well for lakes and slow moving rivers. I have another boat for the rivers The only problem is i want something i can fish some of hte larger lakes here that are electric only and paddling long distances can get old after a while.....i see a pedal powered kayak in my future
  4. PS3.....I personally hate the Xbox controller but it may be that I have been playing playstation since the first one.
  5. All good advice as there are lots of variables involved in sink rate. The only thing I will disagree with is water gets denser as it gets colder which is part of the reason ice floats. http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/water-density-specific-weight-d_595.html
  6. i agree that trading newer for older seems to be odd. I would also wonder why is there a new gel coat and carpet on there? Did the previous owner not take care of the finish and maybe other maintenance as well? I know a ranger is a great boat but unless you know everything about it i would say keep your existing boat. The other piece is why is he wanting to trade his boat?
  7. Can't hurt......just go and see what is in there. Seems odd though because not everyone carries a scale with them to weigh their catches.
  8. I think the 6'8" mojo MXF is the best bet out of those rods. I have fished/owned every rod you mentioned and something just "feels" right about the mojo. It isn't as tip heavy as some of the other models in their lineup. Ultimately i think you will be happy with any of the ones you listed. There is also a ST Croix deal going where if you spend $230 or more total value on 2 or more rods you get a free rage series rod.......goes through the end of December i believe.
  9. Take a look at the St. Croix bargain room right now..........they have a legend tournament bass 6'6" MHF for $120. Not sure if you need the 7' but you can get a brand new rod for cheaper if the shorter length works for you....
  10. You know i thought this was troll post but after i saw you had many posts on here i figured you were legit.....well played well played
  11. Care to elaborate why?
  12. So where are the pictures? I mean a world record bass is basically worth a million dollars. And once a month isn't fishing that much really.....
  13. I am sorry but I don't feel bad at all for the people out of a job......they chose this path and ultimately hostess called their bluff and now people are out of jobs. That being said I am a tastycake guy myself in the rare times I eat sweets.
  14. I prefer the little shops and there is a pretty good one here in mechcanicsville. I know everyone raves about greentop but when I first moved to VA I checked them out and had a negative experience. I chalked it up to someone having a bad day but when I went in and had the same experience 2 more times I figured I wasn't part of the good old boy network so I moved on to other places......
  15. I have no doubt that the world record is out there in one of the lakes in California, Florida or maybe even here in VA To have a world record bass everything needs to be perfect. Good genetics, good forage and long growing season. All of which are necessary to equal a world record. Just like not everyone can play professional athletics not all fish can grow to ginormous proportions.
  16. Dang i need to drive up north.....any of those browns available either via kayak or wading? I am assuming they can be caught on the fly as well without chucking some sinking line all day as that can get pretty boring and tiring....
  17. Chile or Argentina....been a dream trip of mine for years.
  18. I like the yum money minnow.
  19. I need to fish jigs more apparently......
  20. Paying the bills and having a comfortable life. Having 5 weeks of vacation and a pretty flexible schedule doesn't hurt either.....
  21. I was unfortunate to have to attend a funeral today for my fiancée's grandfather who was a marine during the Korean War. The funeral home told the family they were not sure if any marines would be able to make it due to a lot going on with it being Veterans Day. As we pulled in to the cemetery we were greeted by three marines in full dress (I think that's what it is called) waiting to do their part. They did the flag folding and presented the flag to the widow. I am not much on ceremonies etc....but this was one of the most beautiful things I have witnessed. So to all you veterans, thank you.
  22. Very nice brownies. I caught one myself on Saturday and a few bows and about 20 brookies on the fly rod.
  23. Pumpkin slaw
  24. I own both and I prefer the mojo. Something just feels off on the veritas but not enough to warrant me not using it. Both are good rods though and I wouldn't hesitate recommending either of them to anyone in that price point.
  25. I have had really good success with that color as well in the silent version. The only thing is that after a good bit of use the front treble moving back and forth wears the paint away in a semi circle pattern where the hook contacts the body of the bait .....hasn't stopped me from catching any fish as of yet but it does look weird.
