Battle Of The 100$ Rods
I have the veritas and mojo and i think they are both very similar sticks. I wasn't as keen on the veritas at first for some reason, can't put a finger on exactly why but it just didn't feel right to me. After using it more i am liking it more and more. Bottom line is i don't think you can go wrong with either and you can find the veritas for 79.99 at a bunch of places and for that price it is probably one of the better rods out there.

First Bass Of 2013
Nice fish!! Here is my first if 2013, first on a jig and first in under 40 degree water. Measured in at 22" which is citation size here in VA so hopefully it is a sign of good things to come this year.

Electricians Help
Sounds like a GFCI to me and maybe this is a stupid question but did you try said appliances in a different known to be working outlet? There may also be a GFCI on the breaker itself that is worth looking at.

Crock Pots
They are all pretty similar. I would suggest finding one that has a timer for a delay start so you can put something in there in the morning and have it start cooking around noon so it is ready by dinner time while you are at work. I'd also recommend getting one that has a removable insert which I think they all have these days but worth noting.

Why Is It That.....
That's the exact reason i went to using my iPhone for music and then can answer and talk hands free if needed

Mini Bass Boat Advise
If you have trouble paddling there are also kayaks that use pedal power for propulsion that may also be worth considering.

Why Is It That.....
Probably because when you are day dreaming your fishing slows down without you realizing it. I always take those situations as a note to slow down whatever presentation i am doing.

Mono Or Fluro?
Personally i would go with neither and go with braid. I switched my weightless plastics rig from flouro to hi vis braid and haven't looked back. the sensitivity is better and for the diameter it is extremely strong which can help when throwing it into nastier cover like i do. Not to mention it pretty much lasts forever. if you are concerned with the bass seeing the line then just go with a leader but i haven't noticed a difference tying direct and marking the last 10 feet or so with a sharpie. I have used a leader when fishing super clear water but around here, those areas are few and far between.

Funny Thing I Saw On Wfn
There are alot of bass rods out there that are built to comply with BASS rules and regs with the sage bass series coming to mind. I like catching largemouth on the fly rod but lake fishing and fly fishing are not the easiest thing but they do excel in certain situations. I can pick apart a lilly pad field and drop a frog or mouse in every pocket probably faster than you could work it with conventional tackle because i do not have to bring the fly all the way back to the boat before the next cast. It also gives the fish a different look as far as baits go and the fish seem to be more apt to hold on to the flies, not sure if it is beacuse of generally natural materials used in flies or what but it seems to be the case. Now if you are looking for anything deep it is way less effective in my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if a few pros have a fly rod handy for when there are a lot of dragonflies buzzing around or a particular hatch going on.

I Caught One I Caught One
Any fish when the water drops below 45 is great in my book. Nice job and i hope to replicate your success tomorrow as i am planning on heading out myself.

Tackle Organization Anyone?
Don't hate on the banjo minnow. I picked up some as a joke and they are a pretty good bait to use where snags are not a huge issue. I am not sure if the bass are "gentically programmed to strike" them like the infomercial states but they have some good action and can produce

Fishing Clothing
For me it is all synthetic everything no matter what the season. Summer time it is usually a lightweight pair of pants or shorts, mountain Hardwear usually, a patagonia silk weight t-shirt and a pair of keens either slip on on straps depending if i am on the river or flatwater. I always wear a hat and sunglasses and sunscreen. Winter time is pretty similar except i usually go with a pair of fleece pants underneath my chest waders, silkweight t-shirt then depending on the temperature it could be a midweight patagonia capilene or a 100wt fleece shirt or any combination of them all underneath either a soft shell jacket or a gore tex rain jacket. Being a kayaker layering is key because even in 30 degree weather you can work up a sweat in the winter and sweat is your enemy so being able to modify layers is key.

Used Boat
My question is it your mom's boat or your step dads? To me that makes a difference in this situation. if it is your mom's then to me it is no different than using their car before you get your own etc... That being said if the boat has been checked out by a boat mechanic and everything looks sound then by all means go for i because there is nothing better than having something of your own. Maybe you can buy your mom & step dad's boat for a good price then let them borrow it from you when they want to use it and then you will have your own boat and know all the history behind it....and if they want they can get a different boat. Just throwing some ideas out there.....

Tell Us About Your Best Fishing Trip
Tough to pick just one but my best one was a quality day on a large reservoir i had only fished twice before. I had the entire day off so i was on the water an hour before sunrise and started out the day throwing flukes and never really switched up except to cast a frog a time or two and caught a couple that way. I figured out he pattern of the day was shady side of overhanging branches up tight to the shore. I was skipping flukes and having a grand old time catching bass after bass after bass. When all was said and done i caught well over 25 bass with the smallest measuring 15" and what made this day special was i ended up catching 8 over 18" and two of those went over 20". It was a great day and made me fall in love with both the lake and flukes. After checking my GPS i paddled well over 15 miles that day and i was on the water to see both the sunrise and sunset. While i have caught bigger fish i haven't had that type of quality fish day here in VA and haven't equaled it since but hopefully next season i will

What's A Major That Lets You Stay In The Fishing Industry?
The other thing people haven't mentioned is there are times when you make a career out of something you love and it changes because it has become work. I used to be rock climbing guide and it was really fun for a while but it made me lose interest in climbing for fun, that's when i got into fly fishing and became a guide for that too. Don't get me wrong, i did enjoy it but when i was out doing something for fun and ran into former clients it kind of took away a little bit of what i was trying to do for my own relaxation and release. it is also to\ugh to live not knowing how much or when you will get your next paycheck. So another piece of advice would be is to be extremely vigilant in learning how to handle your finances and budgeting your cash. I sold cars for about a year and i committed to living off a certain salary no matter what i was making and it turned out to be the right decision. It was tough on some of those great months not to spend some extra when i made 10k but it sure came in handy on those months i made 2k. Now i work a decent job that gives me ample time off and a pretty flexible schedule so i can do what i love to do and not worry about how it is going to pay the bills. Now i wouldn't mind using the skills i have now from being in a "grown up" job in a sports related industry but i also realize that generally it is a decision that money is not your primary reason for working in the outdoor field.

Stanley ribbit or bogbaits frogs with either a 4/0 or 5/0 screw lock with no weight.

Best Summer Lures
you are going to have to be a little more specific as to type of lake and cover available. For me i like some sort of topwater in the morning and evening/ night but during the day it all depends on what else is going on with the lake, weather etc....

Broncos Rule!
Not sure if the denver GM should be GM of the year becasue they basically paid him a TON of money. I am impressed though and it is good to see him succeed as he seems like a genuinely good guy, well his whole family for that matter. As far as who i would pick as GM of the year i would go with whoever is hte GM of the skins. They gave up a ton to get RG3 and it paid off as they are playing for the NFC East divison championship tonight after only winning what, 4 games last yea and 4 the year beforer? The denver defense is pretty good and they were a playoff team last year so the addition of even a 75% peyton manning probably nets tham a win or two. I will now sit back and ponder why i continue to watch the eagles every week/season/year.............

Tackle Organization Anyone?
During the fishing season i go through my tackle about once a week. It is usually because i am prepping ot fish a particular lake so i tailor my boxes accordingly. Of course if i didn't fish from a kayak and have somewhat limited space it would probably be a different story.

You Don't Have To Be Fancy To Catch Fish...
There is something to be said about being in the right place at the right time. If a big fish is there and hungry and you present a bait to them there is a good chance they will eat. Good gear does not necesarrily equal a good fisherman

Christmas Presents
I got 150 in BPS gift cards and a new ipod shuffle since my 1st generation one was toast. I ended up adding in a bit of my own cash to the gift cards and bought two st corix rage rods and am getting another one free from their deal so all in all a pretty good Christmas. All the gifts though don't compare to seeing my 2 year old wake up and half asleep walk into the living room and lo and behold, a huge thomas the tank engine train table all set up for him to play with I'll trade everything i received if i had to just to see that glow on his face again.

Anything I Should Know About St Croix Mojo Bass Rods? I Got A 7 Foot Medium For Spinners
It is a good rod and you will be happy with it i am sure. I don't feel the spinning rods are more powerful than their ratings as compared to other rods i have owned. Now their baitcasters i can say do feel a little heavier as compared to other rods. I like my 7' MF for shaky heads and also for weightless plastics.
