Your Best " Crap! That's Not A Smallie! " Pics
I have always wanted to catch one and this one was also tagged so i wanted to document the catch and get it to the DGIF for their research. Pretty cool actually since he was able to tell me what the fish weighed, length and where it was caught when it was initially tagged.

Why?
i looked it up...you gain 4" per crank going from 29" to 33"

If You Appreciate Fine Craftmanship?
I love damascus steel knives....nothing looks better in my opinion unfortunately i just haven't broken down and spent the money to get one jsut yet.

Why?
Not sure but maybe it is so you can say you have one the only thing i can think of is maybe some heavy cover situation where you really want to get the fish out fast. Other than that i am not really sure.

Duplicating Your Favorite Equipment
I am pretty brand loyal but not necessarily not open to change. I have been on the st croix bandwagon since my fly fishing days and have stuck with their lineup. Started out with the premier and have now mostly rage rods. To me it is about feeling comfortable and in a kayak i also prefer to have more technique specific set ups so i don't have to retie as often. I haven't duplicated any exact setups with the exception of having 2 7'mf spinning setups because i do use those for different techniques. As far as reels go those i do get the same pretty much when i can with different gear ratios for baitcasters but pretty much the exact same for my spinning rigs.

Heavy Sinking Brush Hog Alternative
The other option would be to contact Travis over at http://www.stankxbaitco.com and have him custom make you some heavier baits by adding more salt. I have had him make me some cusotm stick baits before and it was a nominal price increase and i got exactly what i wanted. He does make a brush hog and a creature type bait that have some heft to them already and by adding more salt i am sure the would be even heavier.

Anyone In The Central Va Area Interested In Fishing Tomorrow?
the second bridge on the way out has some nice fish around it....or at least that is what i heard The beauty of it is being in a kayak you can fish it more easily because you are lower to the water where all the boats i have seen go through have to basically lay down to get under it if water levels are up at all. Good luck!!

Anyone In The Central Va Area Interested In Fishing Tomorrow?
Well i am hoping you go to diascund and make the long pedal, in your case, up to the north so you can tell me if it is worth my time to paddle up there or if i should go somewhere else on Saturday I am pretty lucky in that my fiancee checked the weather and basically said well at least this Saturday you won't be as cold as the last two you went out fishing

Can I Use A Palomar Knot With Yo-Zuri Hybrid?
So when you say it holds better do you mean it doesn't break off as often or that it slips when using nylon based lines? I personally think the palomar is a pain to tie in anything but braid so i usually use an improved clinch on anythign that isn't braid.

The Trash Is Flying, The Pennants Are Flying, And The Al Central Is Still Terrible
The crazy thing about Howard too is he can get hot in one at bat. I was watching my old 2008 world series tapes and he was having a rough post season for the most part. Then all of the sudden bam, he carries the team and starts crushing the ball. It also doesn't hurt that after i took my fiancee on her first Philly trip and game and we were staying downtown we were walking back to our hotel around 2am after getting a cheesesteak and we saw an aston martin outside of the hotel bar. The valet saw us and said oh you guys are phillies fans (cause we had our gear on still) because Howard is inside. WE obviously said really? he said yeah let me see if i can get him out here to say hi. One of his buddies came out first so we chatted for a few minutes and he sent him a text.to Ryan asking him to come out. He comes out and looks at us and says hey, that's my girl from the game. At the game, which was on her birthday, we were about 2 rows back from the dugout and she made a sign that said all i want for my birthday is a phillies win and a hug from Ryan Howard. He then came out, gave her a hug, i snapped a picture and chatted with him for a minute. He then asked if we wanted to go to the diner with him but since our flight was leaving early the next morning we declined. He was a classy guy and did not have to talk to us or even acknowledge that he remembered us so to me that was cool and made me a Howard fan even more than i already was.

Anyone In The Central Va Area Interested In Fishing Tomorrow?
Can't make it out tomorrow but good luck!!! I'll be out somewhere on Saturday somewhere, just not sure where yet. i know they have been biting the past few weekends and with this recent warming spell you should be in for a good day Also, don't forget about diascund---a little closer and shallower so the warm weather may get them a little more ready to eat

The Road To The Super Bowl
All great points. This might be the best i.e. most peaceful thread when it comes to sports i have ever been involved with I think the main reason a scrambling quarterback has not been successful is due to a few reasons Generally they are not as accurate passing Running will rarely get you as many yards as passing Being fast for a QB doesn't necessarily make you fast overall (Vick and griffin excluded) it more levels the playing field to the rest of the players on defense. Everyone in the NFL is a stud and was most likely one of the best players on their college team so the gap of player talent is much less....high school all stars all go to college & College all stars go to the NFL So now here are my official straight up picks: Patriots (even though i want the Texans to win) Green Bay Seahawks Denver For my picks against the spread: Ravens with the points 10 point dog Green Bay to cover the 2 1/2 Texans with the points 9 1/2 point dog Seattle with the points 1 point dog Should be another good week of football but hopefully I am out fishing instead of watching since the weather is supposed to be real nice here in VA this weekend

The Trash Is Flying, The Pennants Are Flying, And The Al Central Is Still Terrible
Ruiz was my second favorite current phillies player till he got busted for PED's. I am still a Howard fan. Yeah he strikes out a lot but nobody has hit with the power he does in the history of the game. Once he is fully recovered from his Achilles this season I predict his normal season of 40+hr and 125+ RBI. I actually like jimmy in the 5 or 6 spot but not sure where everyone else fits in.....maybe revere, young, utley, Howard, Rollins, brown, Ruiz? I like the switch hitter after Howard and jimmy has some pop in his bat still.

The Road To The Super Bowl
I wonder what their scoring would be if you didn't have an offense to move the ball in range or removed extra points from their totals

The Road To The Super Bowl
The thing with RG is he may be in the perfect situation where he never needs to pass much. Kind of reminds me of Big Ben. He is mobile and passes when he has to but it is more of a run oriented scheme. I hope there is a ton of controversy next year though so he gets moved out of the division

The Trash Is Flying, The Pennants Are Flying, And The Al Central Is Still Terrible
I agree that utley will probably be the key along with Halliday. I mean was last year just a bad season or the beginning of his decline. Only time will tell. I bet Manuel keeps Rollins in the lead off spot. He is loyal to a fault and when Rollins plays well so do the phillies. I also wonder if they have any thoughts of galvis playing short and moving jimmy to the OF. he has the speed and arm to be a good left fielder and galvis is probably the best defender on the team except Ruiz. Harper is young and I just can't get past his attitude. Yeah I know he has been told he is the best since he was 13 but he definitely needs to mature. Now mike trout, that guy is incredible...

The Road To The Super Bowl
I have heard from many mobile quarterbacks all the way back to Cunningham say they are more nervous about sliding and getting a knee or shoulder caught then anything. I guess sliding like anything else is something that is learned and needs to be practiced Besides that, I am sure most qb don't want to be seen on the practice field practicing their slides.....might put them even closer to the kicker category

Cork Handles
Or a super fine sandpaper and then cork sealer. Always worked well on my fly rods.

The Road To The Super Bowl
I guess that's the difference between a fan of a team and not. I can pick out the bad way easier than the good And this year I will agree. Vick was running for his life pretty much all season which was to be expected given 4 offensive linemen went down throughout the season. RG does do a nice play fake but if the shanahan's continue to have set running plays for him 8-10 times a game he will not last. Mobile quarterbacks are much more dangerous when you think they might run instead of planning for them to run.

Small Swimbaits
Don't forget about the money minnow too....

The Road To The Super Bowl
RG is over rated in my opinion. He did what was asked of him and they gave him a very simple passing offense where he only had to make 2 reads and then dump it off or run. I am not taking anything away from him at all because he is a good athlete but there is no way he could have done what luck or Wilson did. I like watching him play but I think he is more fragile than even Vick, missed 1 game entirely and pulled out of 2 others. Not to mention he also tore up his knee in 2009 and again this year. Yeah he can run yeah he seems like a real good kid but I am not sure he is or will be a superstar, especially with the I only look out for myself attitude of the coaching staff.

The Trash Is Flying, The Pennants Are Flying, And The Al Central Is Still Terrible
Phillies will win the east pretty easily if they stay healthy. They were about 15 games under .500 in late July and managed to get back into the WC hunt and to .500. They still need an outfield bat. Imalsomhear all the hype about the nats and strasburg and Harper and I just don't see it. Harper had a good season but was not an all-star by any means. He makes very very dumb mistakes on the base paths and is a pretty bad fielder. I know he is still learning the outfield but he blows basic plays pretty regularly. Strasburg wasn't even the best pitcher on his team last year. Braves will be solid again next year too with their strong bullpen. It's gonna be a good season for sure and I just might have to make a trip down to spring training this year
