Question On Sunglasses For Fishing
I have used a lot of different pairs of sunglasses over the years and the best I have worn are costas in glass lens. Yeah they are expensive but the difference between the glass lens and the plastic isn't even close. I would buy a cheap pair because you should never fish without eye protection and save up for costas. You will not be disappointed.

The Road To The Super Bowl
Yeah sorry I misquoted that one...but it doesn't change the overall team performance

Did I Make A Good Choice On This Rod
If you are using it for cranks just back off the drag a little bit and you will be ok. I used to throw cranks on a st croix MHF and did well. I will say I picked up a kistler helium crankbait rod a few weeks ago and the difference is night and day.....in a good way. I didn't know what I was missing and either will you till you get a crank specific rod

The Road To The Super Bowl
Oh how quickly people forget and how jaded they are for their own team.....in the last 7 games they beat the 49ers and the patriots earlier in the season. The skins have beat 2 teams that are in the playoffs where the Seahawks have beaten 4 yes 4 teams that are in the playoffs. If you take it a step further the skins only had 3 games on their schedule that are teams currently in the playoffs as opposed to 5 for the Seahawks. Stats don't tell the whole story and if you ever watched the Seahawks you would realize their defense is nasty. The skins have played some serious cupcakes in their run too...Cleveland, philly twice and the ever choking cowboys twice. And to say RG doesn't get rattled is just silly. Every qb gets rattled but to shanahan's credit he only asks him to pass about 25 plays a game so he understands RG and doesn't want to give him to many chances to screw up. The same can be said for Wilson except he is a better passer than RG but RG has the nod running, barely. Both teams are playing good football right now but the defense of the seahawks is substantially better which is why I think they will win. Scary thing is I am an eagles fan but a total football junkie and watch all the games I can.....nfl ticket package can be a curse at times

Online Sporting License Sales Grow
I buy mine online and save the PDF so i can print them out whenever i need to which for my out of state PA license is pretty important because they charge you $5 or something for a reprint which isn't really a reprint but rather the file so you can print it yourself at your own expense. I also talked to a VA DGIF officer because he wanted to see my license and i had it saved to my iPhone so i showed him the electronic form of the license. I asked him if that was ok and he said technically yo uare supposed to have the physical license but he doubts highly that anyone would ever have a problem with the electronic version. With that being said, i haven't printed a license in the past 3 years.

The Road To The Super Bowl
interesting topic to say the least........As far as the skins go they are a good team that is hot right now but so are the seahawks and as far as rushing goes they are almost identical. Offensively i call it a wash. Defensively the seahawks let up 15 points a game which is really the only defensive stat that even matters. I give a big edge the seahawks on defense for sure....those guys hit hard and could easily rattle a rookie QB. The skins have not had many turnovers i agree but that will even out. RG fumbles the ball alot but this year the balls bounced his way and i think he only lost 2 or 3 while fumbling 12-13 times total i believe. I have to give credit to Shanahan though,. He has made a very simple offense to allow RG to succeed. He rarely has to make more than 3 reads and then make a decision and most times it is only 2 and a dump route. This can be seen by how well cousins did when he came in and started his first game ever and has the most passing yards for the season in a single game for the team. The real key to the redskins success is morris and the skins winning the time of possession battle and limiting the number of offensive chances the seahawks are going to have. I think it is going to be a close game but the edge is going to go to the seahawks and they pull out a close victory. Here are my winners for the weekend: Texans Packers Ravens Seahawks All close games in my mind....

Bps & $100 Million Shopping Center In Richmond
They just did a bunch of work to that exit so i wouldn't be surprised if they did nothing. That place is going to be like another short pump with traffic..... Good thing my local store has almost everything i need.

Oh Boy.. I'm In Trouble.
My fiancee is pretty cool about stuff. We take the approach of if we can pay our bills that we are each responsible for and keep food on the table then we are good. Luckily she doesn't spend much but when she does all i can do is encourage her to do it because she doesn't like to spend money on herself. She gets her hair done every month or two which runs over $100 and doesn't last as long as a new piece of gear so i figure we are good I also let her claim our son on the tax return since we are not married yet and the dependent care expenses so she gets a little extra and i get the peace of mind knowing i didn't tick her off in the process. The one thing i do ask for is the 1k match work gives her for the dependent care FSA since i pay for the day care and i feel like i deserve the free money part lol

First Trip Of The Year
The smaller one I caught earlier in the day was almost completely white. I am thinking the bigger one was one of those 20% of fish they say stay shallow year round. And yes, I will be throwing the jig way more often this year. I had an online cart full from seibert outdoors but since I just picked up a few new rods I am gonna wait for at least a few weeks

Hybrid Kayak/canoe Help
Well since you can't paddle them i would say any will make a good choice. The seat in the native is great while the commander offers a higher captain's perch (where i spend probably 99% of my time) and a lower seat position. Tons of room in both boats and rigging options are great on both boats. I don't think you will be unhappy with any of the boats you mentioned.

Hybrid Kayak/canoe Help
It is tough to use a single person boat with another adult. With a kid you should be fine. I would also look at the commander series from wilderness systems. They have the slidetrax system which makes rigging a breeze for everything you mentioned. I was standing in my commander with the first 5 minutes and have never once been scared of tipping. All the boats you mentioned are great boats for your intended use so i would say if at all possible get out and demo them and see what you think. Native does make a 14' tandem boat that can be used solo or tandem that may be work looking into and then there is also the big tuna from jackson which isn't a hybrid but offers a lot of the features you are looking for.

Patrick Sebile Angles Another Igfa Record
Just to make sure i understand, there is an IGFA record for length of a fish and that length for a largemouth bass is only 24"? I have caught fish longer than 24" and am surprised that 24" is the record as i know longer fish have been caught. Interesting, i may have to look into going for this length record this next season

Battle Of The 100$ Rods
The st croix warranty is pretty good but way more of a value with the higher end rods as you are paying for less of a percentage of replacement cost. Even on the monos and premiers $50 isn't bad for a new rod IMO.

Waders
Depends on where the leak is. I would go into a dark room with the waders turned inside out. Shine a flashlight inside the waders and any light poking through will show up. Mark the areas with a sharpie so you know where to repair later. Depending on the size of the leak you may be able to just use some aqua seal and repair a pin hole leak. If it is on a seam I would use seam sealer like that is used on tents just follow the directions on the package. One thing that helps too is after the seams are cured a little sprinkle some baby powder on the seam and it will help with them not being so tacky once they dry. If it is a larger hole then get a wader or gore tex repair kit and follow the instructions. It is pretty much the same as patching a bike inner tube. Now this advice only applies to non-neoprene waders. For neoprene waders I would imagine you could talk to a scuba shop and they can advise on how to make the best repair. Good luck

Electricians Help
I would also check the outlets themselves. Turn off the power, take out the old outlet and wire up a new one and see if that helps your problem out.

First Trip Of The Year
When i woke up on New Year's day i was debating on continuing my annual tradition of fishing on the first day of each year. It was about 42 degrees and drizzling out which is hardly ideal conditions. The other problem was is i usually do a paddle up on a local flow but the rivers are blown out from the recent rains so i knew i would be fishing flatwater. I was pretty close to bagging ti when i said ahhh what the hell. I have all the right gear for the cold so i went out side and loaded up the kayak and all my new gear and decided to head out. It continued drizzling all the way to the ramp but miraculously by the time i unloaded the boat the rain had stopped and the wind had also died down. Things were looking up, except the temperature as it hovered around 45 all day with water temps around 39-40. the lake i am fishing is one of my go to spots and is around 100 acres or so with good shoreline structure tons of grass and a creek channel down the middle that bottoms out at about 12 feet tops. I had three new rods to try out so i was psyched and not really expecting to catch anything as i am not a great cold water fisherman as of yet. I starting throwing a DT10 in bleeding shiner along the creek channel edge and was really liking the Kistler crankbait rod and bam, fish on. He ended up being about a 14" fish so no skunk and my coldest water largemouth caught to date. I continued working the channel and figured with all everyone talks about with jigs i would give them whirl even though i have never caught a fish on jig in my life. I cast near some old dead lilly pads and i see my line move a little so lay into it, again because i have read on here that you need a good hookset to drive the larger jig hooks home. Nothing moved so i figure i am in one of the roots of the lilly pads. Then she started pulling.....I knew it was a decent fish but i couldn't see her yet. She finally flashed by the side of the boat and i saw she was areal good one. I was surprised at how hard she was pulling given it was pretty cold water but she was giving it all she could including running under the yak twice. Luckily my new Rage 6'8" MHF rod was up to the task and i finally got her to hand. She measured 22" which is a citation size here in VA and i am guessing in the 5-6lb range, So my first jig fish ever on my new rod in the coldest water results in my first citation sized bass of the year..... Those were the only two fish of the day but all in all it was a good day and i am looking forward to chucking the jig more often this upcoming season.

Crank Bait Rod
I just picked up a kistler micro helium 7' MM and while i have only been able to use it twice it does a great job on cranks up to about 12ft. I haven't thrown anything deeper yet so i can't comment on that type of performance. TW has them on sale right now for around $150 and i think they run in the $250 range normally.

Crock Pots
Even heating is the same with any good quality product. You don't see chefs using ceramic pots and if they do it is usually enameled covered cast iron. Now i do think the ceramic holds heat better so if you are cooking and taking it somewhere else it will stay hot in there better but other than that no big deal. The ceramic also takes a lot longer to cool down and there is the possibility of cracking it too. I have both styles and both work so really it is a matter of preference more than anything.

Beginner Friendly Suspending Jerkbaits?
I like the x-raps and as far as soft jerkbaits go i do use them year round. If yours is rolling then you are most likely not rigging it straight. It took me a few times to get to the point where i can rig it straight but now it is second nature.
