  1. Nice fish man. Congrats!
  2. Went to Loch Raven Reservoir today. Was supposed to go with my brother but he bailed so I went out alone. After making my way down a steep overgrown hill and dodging swarms of stinkbugs, I found a quiet cove with a nice rocky outcrop. Started throwing plastic worms and lizards but all I got was little bluegills nibbling on the tail. I haven't really fished crankbaits much but I do have a couple so I tied one on figuring the bluegill would leave it alone. Like my 3rd of 4th cast with it I hooked up a little 10inch largemouth. Didn't hook him in the mouth though. He had one hook under his chin and the other in his gills. Not the biggest fish but my first on a crank.
  3. Welcome to BR!

  5. I was gonna make that point myself but didn't want to start a religious debate.
  6. wow man...your a beast! nice fish
  7. Rock throwing is a primary element in several bigfoot reports and a common primate behavior. http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2009/03/09/chimp-stone-thrower.html Unless there was another person way off the beaten path who was throwing rocks at you (which you've said is unlikely), what else out there has the physical abilitly to throw a rock or the mental capacity to make such a decision in the first place? It was a bigfoot!
  8. Gotta say i agree with the others. Sounds like you've got a pretty good thing going with that pond so I'd try not to ruin it. Sucks he reacted the way he did though. No offese to anyone, but being older, he's probably pretty set in his ways. Probably been stomping pickerel since before us young whippersnappers were born. I'd say suggest that if he absolutely must kill every pickerel he try eating them instead but you said its 'catch and release' only. Then again, if your releasing them with a broken jaw, whats the point? I dunno man. I mean, you are on his home turf. Might be better to try and let it go and hope you don't have to see it again.
  9. Thanks guys. Ill try a couple of these next time i take her out and let you know how it goes.
  10. My girlfriend came fishing with me the other day but didn't have too much luck with my plastic worms and such. She wants to try fishing with live bait. I'm thinking nightcrawlers but im not sure what kind of rig I should fish them on. Should I use a bobber? What kind of hooks/weights? Also how should I fish it? Should I just let it sit and wait for a bite or should I retrieve it slowy? Im fishing a lake thats only about 5-7 feet deep. Recomendations anyone?
  11. Thats your tax dollars hard at work right there.

  16. Why a squarebill? Whats the purpose of it being square? Are the advantages/disadvantages vs other cranks?
  17. Wow man. Think that little guys eyes were bigger than his stomach. Nice fish
  18. Theres nothing bad about it. Im thrilled when i catch any fish. Just saying, this is my smallest so far. Honestly, i just got ahold of a digital camera and got a little overly excited about taking fishing pictures.
  19. Tried a new spot today (Wye Mills Dam in Queen Ann's County MD). Kind of uncomfortable because the only spot you can fish from the shore is on the slanted concrete going down into the water. My ankles and knees are killing me but I still had fun. Wasn't having any luck so I moved a little further down. About a half an hour later, this guy who was fishing where I just was pulls in a bass that looked every bit of 5 or 6 lbs. A little while later I landed this monster. 9 inches of lizard gobbling fury! The only fish i caught all day. Everyone feel free to post your own personal worsts.
  20. well said retiredbosn
  21. welcome to br!
  22. Ok. So there may not be a plethora of evidence thats going to convince every single person. Im sure that a large portion of reported accounts are probably hoaxes but there are also some reports by people that are a bit more credible like park rangers and police officers. I think its better to keep an open mind. Have i ever personally seen a bigfoot? No. But that doesn't mean their existence is completly outside the realm of possibility. New species are discovered all the time and the wilderness in the pacific northwest and Canada is vast. Abscence of evidence is not necessarily evidence of abscence.
  23. Finally got around to watching that video (my wireless internet sucks and I was too lazy to get up and hardwire my laptop to the modem). Very helpful. Im gonna try it when i go out Thursday. Thanks guys.
