  1. talk about gullible. when i saw i had 15 responses to this, i actually thought "wow....a lot of people have seen a bigfoot". then i read the responses. lol....guess i should have seen this coming
  2. lol...fantastic
  3. i recently bought a lure (rapala skitterwalk) that says i should use a walk the dog technique on the retrieve. not quite sure what that is. can someone please explain?
  4. I guess this goes along with my coolest animal topic. Any of you expierienced outdoorsman ever see a bigfoot?
  5. definitly a good thing you had the knife. i was fishing a frog from the shore the other day and had a beaver run into my line. he pulled the frog to him and it hooked his neck but it must not have been in deep cuz he struggled a bit, went under and the frog popped up.
  6. never seen or even heard of that. had to search google images. if i didn't get so many results, id swear you were making it up. thats awesome man. where did you see it? im assuming a zoo. doesn't seem like something you'd come across just walking down the street.
  7. Thanks for that rooster. I have a couple jigs that I haven't learned to use but none of them have blades. Ill get around to learning them eventually. One step at a time ya know. Bluebasser - I was thinking that same thing. My lakes kinda snaggy and the last thing i wanna have to do is struggle with a snag in the dark. Hard to dodge flying hooks that i cant even see.
  8. are chatterbaits/buzzbaits the same thing? they sound similar
  9. thanks papajoe. ive got a spinnerbait that i haven't used much and a crank that runs like 2-4 feet deep. ill give them a shot.
  10. hmmm....interesting. i was thinking maybe swtich to brighter colors like white or chartreuse but you have a point, msolorio. baitfish dont change colors. stingray - i have some purple worms that are similar to you power worm but i think its only 7 inches. Ill give it a try. i was also planning on buying a popper so ill try that too. thanks guys. appreciate your input.
  11. sounds good man. cant wait to see em.
  12. Well, not really night fishing. More like 5 in the morning but with fall coming on its still dark out. Ive mostly been using a frog and having some success but Im wondering what else would be good. Im better at fishing senkos and texas rigged worms but it seems like these would be harder for the fish to see in the darkness. What are some baits/colors that perform well in the dark?
  13. hi bob. welcome to BR!
  14. that 'being watched' feeling has to be pretty sketchy when your somewhere with large predators. lucky for you he was on the other side of the creek.
  15. Heres something interesting to think about. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/catch_and_release_bass.html
  16. Cool thanks guys. Thats just what i was looking for.
  17. Can someone please explain gear ratios for me? I'd like to know what the numbers mean and also if certain ratios are better for certain situations.
  18. Ugh! Not one bite! I blame my brother for taking forever to get ready to go. By the time we got threre it was almost dark and of course neither of us had a flashlight so we only had like an hour to fish. I saw the bluffs you were talking about, telmomarques, but we were on the other side and since we didn't have much time we didn't wanna spend 15 minutes going back to the car and moving. Next time i guess. Were gonna try again next week. Maybe go early and rent a boat. Let me know how you do Saturday.
  19. The MD DNR website says "Due to the potential for significant impact on the aquatic systems, any movement or possession of live northern snakehead fish is a major concern and a violation of state law... Anyone possessing one should not release it but should report it to their state natural resources agency." Of cousre your going to kill it if you plan to keep it. They want you to kill them all no matter what. They screw up the food chain by eating a large percentage of the forage eaten by other native fish species.
  20. Awesome fish man! Can't wait til i catch some like that. All mine have been fairly smallish.
  21. Redlinerobert - Fishing in the amazon huh? Thats awesome. Something most people only dream about. Im sure you've seen tons of cool stuff. Highhawk - Thats great. Did you see the news article about the moose that got tangled in swingset? You can find it on youtube. A cop ends up freeing him. Ghoti - Definitly dont wanna keep those trout. I hear they taste terrible. Great responses everyone. I've really enjoyed reading them. Keep em coming!
  22. Cool. Thanks guys. Im heading out in the morning. I'll be sure to post pics of what I catch.
  23. Thanks for the replys everyone. Sounds like there are some other things I can try besides the swivel. I was wondering what you mean about not reeling against the drag. Are you saying if the fish is taking line to let it? I thought I wanted to keep tension. Isn't there more of a chance of the fish getting some slack in the line?
  24. Let me start by saying that I am by no means knowledgeable on this subject so theres a good chance I'm wrong here. They look similar to an older lure I was given that was made by a company called Brooks Reefer. I've tried to find something about them on the internet with no luck so I'm fairly certain they're out of business. At any rate the one I have runs about a foot or 2 below the surface when retrieved and I really like the side to side motion it has. IMO it looks much more relistic than other more moden crankbaits I have. I haven't really fished crankbaits much so I couldn't really say what situations to use them in. Thats my 2 cents but like I said, take it with a grain of salt. Im interested to hear what others have to say about this.
