  1. I'm going to buy another dobyns rod for fishing jerkbaits and square bill cranks I can't decide on whether to get the savvy 703 or a champion 704 glass crank rod, I'm trying to save money on this as well but I'll spend the extra 50 if I have to and i know I don't need as much sensitivity either on crank rods, does the glass make that much of a difference or would a savvy one power lighter feel similar? Looking for some opinions on this
  2. Look into a dobyns savvy or do what I do and save money and have two polarized oakleys and a few dobyns champions with lews reels on them
  3. I split shot constantly and IMO the best bait is a 3-4 inch reaper
  4. Phenix m1, recon or dobyns savvy
  5. It' really comes into use for me when fishing in the delta punching and needing to pull the fish put of the cover as fast as possible
  6. Don Pedro lake, new melones, cal delta
  7. When using a finesse worm for me it has to be hand poured, they're softer which equals better hooksets and generally if they're local they have amazing colors, I swear by keeper custom worms and hand made jigs either by myself or locals
  8. I use 15 lb seaguar invisx flouro for the Cali delta for jigs and 60 lb sunline fx2 braid for jigs and punching
  9. and balsa crank baits and spoons but why ban plastic, thats all i use
  10. we have one with 25 members and currently me being the best in there with 2/3 first places, our club just started too
  11. I have the staysee 90 for spots in the lakes around here and it's the best, best color is aurora black
  12. The savvy is a great rod, I have the 766FLIP for punching the Cali delta and love it so far, my next will be a 744 champ extreme though again for fishing the delta and the mother lode lakes around here, you really can't go wrong with anything from the dobyns lineup.
  13. Dobyns 702 and 766 flip champions
  14. Dobyns champion or the champ extreme is my rod of choice. Also you could try a phenix m1 or recon gen 2, those rods all are super sensitive and light, never tried the ltb but I did almost buy one before I got into using dobyns
  15. i tie my own trebles for jerkbaits and i couldnt do this with out my $20 vice lol, they can be fairly cheap, i cant tie my jigs and flies without it either so i suggest you invest in a cheap one it will help in the long run
  16. oh and dont forget to save for a boat, ive got 4,000 saved so far in 2 1/2 years and i dont plan on getting one until im 20 or maybe older, ive got my eye on a 20+ foot boat of some kind used probably a stratos or triton if i can find one, if im lucky maybe a phoenix or legend
  17. you know ive fished since i was 2 as well and im 15 now, i fish all the time and strictly for bass, its tough to get sponsored at your age as well as mine, im pretty goood considering ive won a good number of highschool tournaments to add to that. i also have good grades with a 3.8 gpa ,but i suggest keeping up in school and get your name out there, do something what i do sometimes and go to fishing shows and talk to pros and have a good conversation. join a highschool team and eventually a college team too, as well as local bass clubs. im trying to get into the WON bass motherlode circuit which will help with my name being put out there, also you may need to feel confident in other techniques as well like my number 1 strength is in finesse presentations but i feel very confident in everything except for cranks and and throwing those gosh d*** frogs lol oh and buzzbaits. my point is you should work a biit more and get involved as well as get a good education. sorry for the crappy spelling, its late and i dont care to fix mistakes, good luck and hope to fish against you one day
  18. My dobyns champions for sure followed by my lews reels and keeper custom worms
  19. Don't buy a mojo that's for sure they feel like crap, spend a bit more on a phenix rod they're amazing or even a dobyns
  20. The color that is is a must have for me is the Florida bass by heddon, I have 4 spooks that color in my box, it's the go to color for me. One trip I went out and caught 8 bass on a super spook and the smallest was 4 1/2 lbs and largest was 7 lb, caught them all in 45 minutes too during the fall
  21. at a private pond once, I was walking along the shore and scared 6 Baby ducks into the water, they swam straight to the middle where all were eaten by bass besides one that got away, sad sight and also an interesting thing to watch all the ducks being inhaled by 10 lb bass, it's the pond in my profile pic and that bass probably had a duck in its belly
  22. Definitely great for the money and a good champion alternative
  23. The size bait I'd throw is 1/4-1/2
  24. Size 1/0 and 2/0 gamakatsu drop shot hooks all the time no matter for what type of bass or what time of the year
