  1. Dobyns 766 flip, lews bb1, is my swimbait, Alabama rig and punching rod
  2. The only answer I can give you would be the sensitivity, I think it's better that all those besides the champion, which it feels a slight bit less sensitive, I don't own one but have used a friends and this is my opinion about what I had felt in the rod
  3. Over here in my area there's lots of hmongs and nothing against them but they wouldn't be buying that trout for bait, they would buy it to eat, or even use it for bait then after they catch a 10 lb bass and keep it they would take the trout off the hook and bring that home for dinner too.
  4. We do this at pineflat lake all the time, usually they cough up shad, the occasional crayfish and once I found night crawlers
  5. So I'm planning on getting a third dobyns but this time upgrading to the champ extreme instead of a champion, I'd be using this for pitching on the delta and local lakes around my area. So i was thinking a 7'4 med heavy rod with a full cork grip or should I do a split grip, do the grips make much of a difference? As well as mh or heavy. Not too long ago I got a champion 766 flip but that ended up turning into a punching rod so I want something to replace my Allstar.also what do you think about a lews tournament pro speed spools, are they worth the 200 or should I just get another bb1
  6. Definitely the phenox recon 2 or m1 used them both and love them, the savvy isn't too bad IMO but I only see a friends savvy, I own all champions and they're amazing
  7. Another dobyns champion, you can never have too many
  8. Also how is the season over, spring is coming up, the best time of the year
  9. Tw had some, idk if they're still on sale
  10. Wrong section for this? Also I haven't used a rage but I have a mojo and an avid rod and I like the avid but hate the mojo so the rage is in between, may I ask which all stars you have broken, I have had one for 5 years and it hasn't given me issues at all. For the price of a rage maybe try the dobyns savvy series, I prefer dobyns over any other rod and I have used a savvy before and IMO its the best in its price range, theres also the phenix m1 and recon 2 rods for a bit more cash or a kistler klx too,you don't have to listen to me but this is my opinion.
  11. Also if you buy a bunch or even a few $100 rods, why not save $50-150 more and you could use a crucial, gl2, dobyns savvy or champ, kistler klx,etc..
  12. Or theres the the new kistler klx ,made with a north fork composites blank which is are made Gary himself which makes it a loomis, and they're like 160 if my facts are right
  13. I have a champ 702 and its amazing for drop shot, finesse jigs, tubes, gitzits, shaky heads and light Texas rigs as well as split shot
  14. I seem to be the opposite of most people then, I'll spend 200-400 on a rod but about 150-200 on a reel
  15. I have used one since my friend has one, I like them a lot, I like the feel and balance of the recon gen 2 as well as a m1
  16. Love my champ 702 for drop shot, should've gotten the champ extreme though, planning on getting a 703 zayta or what they have similar to it and a champ extreme 743
  17. They are, I have one spinning and a punch/flip rod, both champions, I plan on getting a champ extreme and a zayta when it comes out
  18. Oh by the way I have fished with my drop shot crucial a lot and thought it was better than the old ones IMO but its just an OK rod now that I have my dobyns rods.
  19. I do the exact same thing at school when not being lectured, and watch videos when I'm not on the water
  20. I snapped my old one and got the new one and I actually like the new one more in terms of feel and looks, and the new ones don't seem to have that snapping issue.
  21. Its going to be used for lunker punkers and super spooks for the most part, should I stick with 30 braid, no mono because it shreds up in that pond from all the trees, stumps, weeds and other crap in there
  22. If you don't mind spending a bit over 200 a dobyns champion 702 is what I use to throw shaky heads and drop shots, it's very balanced and sensitive, I have a crucial also and it's no where near as good as the dobyns, the crucial decent rod in terms of feel but I've snapped one and had an uncle snap two and his friend also snapped two, all were 2011 models my 2012 one that was warrantied has held up fine so far.
  23. Also what would be a good spook that's 6 inches plus with a color similar to the heddon "Florida bass"color
  24. I throw spooks mainly, I usually use 30lb braid but was thinking of making a switch to 20 because of the 6lb diameter,
  25. By the way it's the pond in my profile picture
