  1. Don't forget to protect your eyes, hands and arms. Cancer sucks.
  2. Get a quality lure retriever. Fasten it onto a quality retractable dog leash. The one I have is 27 ft. long and is cord not the ribbon type. I usually end up with more lures at the end of the season than I started with. If you're afraid of losing a lure you might as well not own it.
  3. Actually, yes I do. Pm me and maybe we can get together.
  4. Welcome to BR. It's good to see more Pennsylvanians coming onboard.
  5. If I may chime in, the frog I rely on the most in heavy summer mats is a Seizmic Toad. There are two colors that float. One is white the other is "southern toad". There are two sizes. The body of water I'm fishing dictates which I use. I prefer a round bend, offset shank hook. I personally just have a better hook-up ratio with this type hook. The great thing about a "floating" frog is the ability to let it sit motionless. Where I fish, this can be a great triggering tactic. Good luck with the frog fishing. For sheer fun, it's one of the best ways to fish.
  6. X2................a class fellow..............he took time to chat with my grandson and I..............and allowed us to take photos.
  7. Good to hear that all is going well, Bson. You're in my prayers daily. Don't be too impatient with the recovery. Keep up the healing. ................"Stitch"
  8. I've finally had it with substandard Grills. I'm about to buy a new propane one. I've decided on a "Weber". I'm just undecided on which model to purchase. Do any of you have experience with the Webers and reccomendations ? Thanks
  9. Some of the farmers do the very same around here. I'd pass on it and find different water until it clears up.
  10. Might I suggest a tactic with senkos that has worked for us in the south? Bite the tip off the senko then rig it on a scrounger jig. Vary your retrieve. It's worked very well for us down there.
  11. After a day in the boat on the water, I suffer from dry eyes. The wind seems to be the biggest factor. This may be the case for you. I wear prescription sunglasses and need to wear something bigger to cover them. I tried wiley x sunglasses because they seal the eyes entirely but with progressive lenses didn't work for me. These are just a couple ideas that came to mind after reading your post. Like Traveler said have those eyes checked out. You only get one pair!
  12. WTG ! Congradulations on your PB.
  13. Andy, I was throwing them on 12# Transition fluorocarbon. The ones most out of tune were the smaller ones. Another thing I noticed as I rooted through the "big bag" at home, is that the newer ones I bought have a slightly different shaped head. The old ones I've had for years, have a completely flat top to the head. These newer ones have a concave surface on top of the head. I'm no aerodynamic engineer, but am wondering if this has something to do with their errant running. As far as the paint chipping off, it's true for me too. I figure though, If I'm not banging the baits off rocks and wood and ripping them clear of weeds I'm not fishing them effectively........................If I feel better through next week, I hope to get my boat up to Erie. My grandson is chomping at the bit to go.
  14. I happened across a closeout on Rattling Raps at Dick's. I'm not that big a fan of them but it was such a good deal that the "bait monkey" got me. I took some of them fishing and couldn't get any but one to run straight. I tried over and over to tune them. Finally, in disgust I took the split rings off and tied directly to the loop. That didn't work either. Finally I tied on a snap. Low and behold problem solved. I took the split rings off the rest that I'd taken with me and used the snap. Apparently the rings were the problem. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem with these or other baits?
  15. The second session of chemo is tomorrow. I have a meeting with the oncologist beforehand. I'm hoping I cope as well this time. Not looking forward to this weekend. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, folks. You can never have TOO MANY prayers.
  16. I'm glad everything went so well, Bosn. You've been in my prayers daily. I'll keep 'em up for a speedy recovery....... Great to hear everything's "unremarkable", Traveler. At this point, that's a good thing.....lol.
  17. I got out on the water today with my grandson. The weather and his sports schedule finally aligned. What a great day! We caught some bass and we thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. I really appreciate the small things in life that I once took for granted. I'm a lucky guy........Take a youngster fishing and relish the time together.
  18. Erhart used to make one. I bought one over ten years ago. I was thinking of contacting DVT. I've dealt with him before and am satisfied. Thanks guys.
  19. Hey, folks, I'm debating buying a micro guide rod, MH fast. Have any of you experience with either a Duckett or a St Croix rage? I'd like one that has spiral wraps but neither of theses do.
  20. Thanks, Flipin. The one I have looks like the sixth one down on that page. Have any idea what it's worth?
  21. I have an old rubber frog bait that belonged to my father-in-law. A fella I used to work with was a lure collector and dealer. He told me it is a "Tempter Frog". Do any of you know anything about this bait? He seemed anxious to buy it. I looked online but found nothing to indicate what it may be worth. Thanks, everyone.
  22. Large spooks or poppers, vary the cadence until you discover how they like it.
