  1. I was referring to the avid x lol my sw combo is avid surf
  2. As far as these rods go the fact they now cover the threads is good. IMO if threads are showing with a reel locked down, then the craftsmanship looks incomplete and cheap.
  3. a lot of saltwater guys with big conventional reels I've seen do that. Before worm gears were common.... Dammit I just aged myself
  4. I cast with trigger between my middle and ring finger. Then reel with it between pinky and ring with index on fore grip or blank. I've never needed extra leverage to handle the rod while freeing it for a net or anything. Only time I may need to do that is on the fly switching hands like in my pic<<<<< with that said I now see where I could make use of it... But still think it's hideous lol
  5. I'm using the mustad double wide hooks size 1 in red. They suck so bad but cheap and I don't gut hook fish so I weigh that against the trokars. Plus on 6# I'll cast right into downed tree branches! takes courage lol just saying I lose tons of them. I didn't like the spin shots that much. Plus I go back and forth dropshot to no weight wacky. It's easier to just re tie and make a long tag if needed. Admit twist is a hassle.
  6. Well I'm gonna give it a full unbiased torture test on Candlewood tomorrow and Champlain for 4 days next week.
  7. What's the deal with the foregrip on bait cast rods I just don't understand. Dobyns/Powell is IMO the perfect look and set up for your index finger. Even my choice 13 rods big stupid locking nut to hide the threads. Spinning rods depending on how you cast is one thing. I'm not trying to be a smart arse. Someone please explain this.
  8. Oh it's not soft it says yo zuri hybrid fluorocarbon polymer alloy. 10# 275yards. $8 for 275 isn't bad at all that's around cost of Red Label
  9. oh no lol I use 6# on spinning as we'll I'm gonna slap this on a bait caster figured 10# is versatile compared to what I throw normally. In other words wanted to evaluate it with. Something I use a lot which is 10# good to know
  10. Wasn't the game plan from them Citica/Sedona-Clarus. Curado/Sahara-compre. Chronarch/Stradic FJ-crucial. Core/Stradic Ci4-Cumara. I figured by how the colors were all similar as well. I remember Dave Mercer mentioning this. I may have the spinning reels mixed up.
  11. Forgot to ask what knot do u guys use and what techniques (moving, trigs, etc). Thanks
  12. Hey a few years ago I said it was the worst line I've ever used couldn't cast more than 8ft on spinning tackle abrasion was terrible etcetera Well was at the local shop today that I got it from and he had spools for 8 bucks. He was like Dave we just got these in I'm like I'm not using that crap. But to my surprise he "just got them in/ started carrying them" through discussion he said the line he thinks I'm talking about is Silver Thread and he stopped carrying it around the time I remember trying it out. So I would like to apologize to you who I said the line sucks. I bought a spool of 10# gonna try it out over course of next few weeks.
  13. Claris and crucial getting the updates, Cumara updated last year, do you think the compre is too?
  14. 1/2-1oz pb&j
  15. black buzz bait with silver or red blade. Spro popper frog, most of em have white belly so any color.
  16. or add a rattle to whichever plastic up choose, didn't this to mention it until his point +1 on frog
  17. Haven't seen em but, not sure which brand maybe Vmc has one with same concept.
  18. Switch up the color senko, I didn't catch anything for 2 years on multiple senkos, got a new color and it's like fishing with dynamite. Also small lakes like that, buzz baits seem to work well. Areas that are mostly serene, you cast the noisy stuff and bass hate it. Or love it from our end of the line. Lol
  19. Let me just say.. You BR guys OWE ME!!!!!! Haha just playin! But no, like seriously u do. Lol lol Mike awesome bro! Glad I could help and I'm looking into the xyz regarding what we talked about yesterday, if I can find xyz that works we might be on to something BIG!
  20. Mike, make a Mystery Siebert Lucky Box!! $15/Month 4 random jigs!
  21. Cork or EVA Im happy with this design
  22. Spinning reel seat looks stupid. The one on previous gen Crucial/Cumara was and is my favorite on a spinning rod, period. hands down. No thread showing, Comfortable and practicly zero foregrip.
