  1. how does if work mechanically? When you engage the clutch the worm gear rotates exposing the angled portion of the guide, this part, the t wing is open oval. It allows line to flutter off more naturally. Idk if it's defeating the purpose or not to use on a rod with semi or full micro guides?
  2. Practice got cancelled have tourney tomorrow, can't wait.
  3. This reel is INSANE!!!! - Daiwa guys: are their reels always marked down so much unlike Shimano? If thats the case.... Ya know where I'm going with this!
  4. How does the Curado G get pulled into this? I've caught more fish then I can count, won tourneys and cashed checks because of the G. It's not a bad reel at all.
  5. yes! Irod genesis 2 Freds Magic Stick 7'5" H/MF
  6. That would be me! Guy at Powell said in about 90 days from phone call so shortly after I cast I'm assuming. Zero info on them
  7. Satisfaction doesn't kick in for me till I can say 'combo complete' and I actually catch something on it. But if I had to choose.... I'd say rod
  8. Just called Daiwa customer service for the hell of it to see if they plan on releasing the Tatula 5:1 and HD in lefty. As well as the Steez in the higher gear ratio. They said they wont know until after I cast but they are getting alot of requests in for more leftys. She advised me to put it in writing as well and shoot a email to admail@daiwa.com (for anyone interested) ... Will probably fall on deaf ears but who knows.
  9. LOL Regular lefty Tatula.
  10. +1 Own 2 and they are rock solid for the $
  11. Citica G and Curado I are the most recent models. The Curado is the more superior reel with more features.
  12. Having 20 something reels I used to forget what's spooled with what. Until now introducing labeler 5000!!! Lmao no seriously bought a labeler and started doing this. AX in this case stands for AbrazX. My spinning setups I put the label on the underside of the spool. Figured I'd share. Ps. You can see in the background I labeled my plano boxes
  13. I'll make casts as far as I can to cover ground. Main lake up here with deep structure is man made, so theres house foundations, stone walls fences, not to mention trees, etc. You can hit multiple pieces of structure in a single cast. Also because of the different structure I would have to raise the tip sometimes having to raise my arm as high as I can to get a jig to slowly come over a object. 6'10 I was using was ok, but my ratio was terrible and I was using braid as well. This rod is a 7'5" but has a longer than normal butt section so it's in reality probably comparable to a 7'1-7'3". I think the couple extra inches and taper is gonna make a huge difference.
  14. Finally after UPS broke the first one, got the rod in. Went with Irod Genesis 2 Fred's Magic Stick. Rod feels awesome, put a Tatula with 15# AbrazX on it, great balance. One huge huge downfall with the rod which I knew ahead of time via the Tackle Tour review is there is zero protection on the butt of the rod. Very very thin piece of eva is all there is for protection. I try to take very good care of my stuff so hopefully it's a non issue. I spoke with Matt via a friend who knows him and he said it should hold up fine. Lifetime warranty as well so there is some piece of mine. Worst thing I could see happening is dropping to stand the rod to lip a fish or something and the blank in the handle shattering. Fingers crossed. Anyways, it's not quite deep football head time yet but gonna attempt flipping with it this weekend. As far as the original post, I think I'm on the right track with this over the Kistler. Thanks again everyone.
  15. they don't make it in lefty in standard. So if they did in this it would be our only option.
  16. Idk, probably not. lol All my baitcasters are cranked all the way down. I only adjust the drag for finesse stuff. Thats just me.
  17. How do I find out the drag washer size? The washer sits in a groove in the gear, unlike other reels Ive seen. I wouldnt mind throwing a upgrade in there if it helps. Maybe even a couple bearings.
  18. New red one or previous gen?
  19. Something 7'-7'3" MH, very versatile.
  20. Cool, report back how you like it. I almost pulled the trigger on a BB1. Ended up sticking with what I already had. Seem to be some good work horses.
  21. Ok so in another thread I said I was gonna buy another reel thanks to bait monkey... Anyhow, one guy at some point said his Tatula handled lighter stuff great. So that night I spooled up some 10# Fluoro and tied on a Fluke, with a Gamakatsu 4/0 weighted hook. Casted like a dream in the back yard so I was convinced. Over the weekend I pre fished plus tourney and threw a fluke quite a bit. Fluke and Tatula are a match made in heaven. We had heavy winds on Saturday, no problem what so ever. Got great casting distance into wind. Not a single backlash nothing. I use a *** 6'7" M/F for flukes and jerkbaits. Was using a Chronarch 201E6 which I now have found another use for. I like to stay in the 6:1 gearing range for flukes, I want to pull up slack line but not too much in case a fish hits and sits. On that note I read the Tatula Type R has a lighter spool, which in reality would probably make very minor difference, although an advantage for flukes. Especially if I dont tie on a weighted hook. The Tat I used I wanted to put on another rod so went ahead and searched for a deal for another. Grabbed a Type R in 6.3:1 for $122.57. Excited is a understatement. Have bocas I never put in the other 2 so Im gonna do the bushing>bearing on the levelwind and I think the knobs are 1 bushing and 1 bearing, gonna up that to 2 each. Peanut butter jelly time!
  22. Hopefully with the extra line capacity they will make a cranking reel. IN LEFT HAND!!!!!!!!
  23. what model you get? the standard speed spool?
  24. Typically 2ft of line is from your tip to lure when casting, Id say check your tip guide.Run a q tip through it to check for some sort of groove or nick. Ive been using 15# big game on a 6000 size spinning reel for years for bluefish(salt) without a issue.
  25. I did a full break down over the winter. So maybe user error lmao
