how are you rigging them? Its pretty much 1 fish per bait for me. I put one on a jig the other day, successfully caught a fish........ the craw was gone. My hookset had ripped it off the jig (threaded on the hook, not impaled like a chunk).

I forgot to mention. I caught one 3lb bass last month on a wacky rig that had a tiny #8 baitholder hook in the top back of its throat. The only thing that I can think off happening was that someone caught a small bluegill and the bass ate it and broke their line. When it ate the bluegill the hook must have come out and hooked the bass while it was chewing.

It kinda depends. If I am pond hopping and I fish one pond for an hour and get skunked there I go to a different pond. I get skunked occasionally at one pond, but I hardly ever get skunked in a day of fishing. If I fish multiple ponds in a day and get skunked (highly unusual), then I get frustrated.

Mag heavy and braid? You're probably ripping the lips off the poor fish. Try a MH with fluoro.

I'm glad they got him but they should have revoked his fishing license for 10 years minimum.

I used it last year a bit but this year I have switched to Hog Tonic and I'm going to try megastrike.

I just hope my 2 rods and 4 reels are enough to cover whatever patterns we run. I have a 7' 6" MH casting that I alternate reels with 17lb fluoro and 50lb braid, and a 6' medium spinning alternating between 20lb braid with a fluoro leader or 10lb mono.

The saddle is awesome. If you just put your hook through the rubber and not the bait it will make your senko last 5+ fish, usually more. Just make sure you use a sharp hook so you can set the hook softly. If a fish grabs half the worm it wll pull it out of the saddle if you set the hook really hard.

Has anyone who lives around Middleburg fished Mcghee or Rayborn Lake? I would appreciate any knowledge about these lakes.

Anyone have any experiences with these jigs? Supposedly the jig rotates in the bass' mouth and hooks them in the top of the lip every time. I got some from tackle warehouse and the double plastic guard is really cool. The only problem is that the weedguard is stiff to work through heavy brush, so to hook any fish I had to use straight braid. I'm sure fluoro would work on a heavy rod instead of the MH I use. Thoughts?

There is a youtube vide of dave mercer claiming that bass have always thought a single crankbait is a school of baitfish. You've got to be kidding me. A bass bites a crank because it goes running past it and it doesn't want it getting away. IMO, 99% of crankbait hits are reaction bites. Just another thing to catch fishermen.

No kidding. When I first started fishing it I had several 1lbers nip at the head but they didn't get the hook in their mouth.

That didn't take very long. got the bait yesterday and caught this 1 1/2lber after an hour of throwing it. However, the bait got ripped right in front of the hook. There was a tear an inch long. Does this happen a lot? What can I do to prevent it? (I did glue it with some "Welders' glue" which is designed for fixing flexible things. It should not tear again because once this stuff dries its like rubber.) I'm guessing that he hit it from the top, which is why he was hooked near the eye. The bait must have gotten folded downward when I set the hook.

Set the hook as soon as you feel the fish. What equipment are you using? For jig fishing you need at least a MH casting rod with fluoro or braid IMO.

Well, I caught my first bass on the rat wakebait I made in applied tech out of pine. I painted it with black acrylic paint. I just went to the pond at the end of my street to test it out. I chucked it right next to a stump and started waking it. Saw a decent splash so I set the hook and fish on! Only a little over a pound but it was a nice surprise that I did not expect. Don't be afraid to throw ugly lures, they work! The rat's body is 5" and the tail is 4".

I sealed up a pad crasher that was sinking yesterday. I used "goop" glue. Its a clear flexible waterproof adhesive. I sealed the hook hole and the tiny drain hole and drilled an 1/8" hole in the top of the frog. I'll test it today and see how it works.

yeah you'll be alright just use a regular EWG not a superline and set the hook really hard.
