  1. if your fishing creeks fro smalls don't forget bout the trig & soft plastics, there cheap and you can just breAK em off instead of spooking the few holes to get a lure back... id get a nice 6-6 m ex-fast whatever brand fits your budget
  2. Dale is much harder fishery so this triple is rare especially w/o live bait http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/BB9A53A8-CF11-4657-8458-5B8476BC2A6B-1318-00000064C361E3D7_zpsf7ecf506.jpg http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/150DB7AA-2623-4F39-9F3C-337D96223CB3-1318-00000064D88DA866_zpsf4c058a5.jpg Nice double http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/IMG_1471.jpg By far my favorite. Way to catch smallmouth - dale hollow in the summer fishing from sun down til sun up sipping beers sparking stubies http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/IMG_1486.jpg This august st. Clair http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/2B6DF160-D1D1-421C-BD5B-4D5C4130F5E8_zps9evrbhwl.jpg
  3. Had a great trip, the weather was perfect temps reached the low 70s- fish where caught 10-25 fow on 1/2 oz football jigs only caught one over 21 inch mark. Your only aloud one "over" and one "under " because the lake has strange regulations trying to protect the fish. Might be doing it more harm then good. The fishin is tough to say the least but did end up around ten fish a day and with weather the way it was it was nice to just get out with the pops... http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/9A48E96A-C1B1-471D-998F-4DE8242B6E53_zps92gzxywl.jpg Over^^^ http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/EEE74B39-D550-4533-B519-4A281F01176A_zpsglq61xf1.jpg Right at 20 inch http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/8EE50A75-C01C-4404-8815-802377622392_zpsoy0didgu.jpg Pig http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff452/tytay89/8570E336-904A-45B7-8985-0DCCEC092CEB_zpsjt019sg3.jpg

  6. one lonely kicking 4 inch swimbait, the rig is just not cool....
  7. As long as your tube has a nice spiral motion on the fall it's doesn't matter the color weight or sent ... It's all about the spiral!
  8. there a website called small jaw.com click on the fishing forums and discussion about catching smallmouth..... the website started with a bunch of local and grew to what it is now, people are real nice and will point you in the right direction... the lake is going threw some rough times, never was a numbers game there but numbers are down. the problem with the holler is every creek has a bluffs, points, pockets, flats ext. the lake is tough id hire a guide since its your first trip and your learning curve will be chopped in fractions. if i was going down id look into the night bite, ive done the best during the hot summer months at night from 11pm til sunrise. football jigs on chuck rock or a swim jig on the weed edges next the the channel has done well. but a spinner with a colorado blade had been lights out... your best chance is make a account on small jaw tell em its your first trip n youll be humbled by the southern hospitality this is directly to the fishing forum, but you guys should really make a account that way you can talk to the local guides... http://www.smalljaw.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=2 p.s. starpoint marina is my favorite place to stay...
  9. Dream shots, or Roboworms they really like anything with that profile ....
  10. Thanks, was a blast -can't wait til this fall!!!
  11. ended up with 40+ fish from noon til 8... tubes and dropshot was the ticket, most fish where caught deeper 15-20 fow
  12. I second the core, its my favorite for light tackle.... The chronarch
  13. i read an online article that talked about mean mouth-had that picture.... So I screen shot it and sent it over "maybe its slightly bigger than most where you fish " lmao no comment
  14. Pretty sure it's a mean mouth
  15. a light bitsy bug or hair jig with a pork chunk Around rock done me well.
  16. With the top waters it wouldn't be "as" necessary... but if you fishing more then once or twice at night and fish with three people and everyone's throwing spinners and jigs then it gets tough. With the black light and everyone having clear/ clear blue line it's makes it a game changer. Your line glows like a lightsaber the biggest up side is everyone can see each others line and where to cast. Another perk is you can see the slightest tap in you line Or say you keep thinking you got a bite but with the black light u can see it was only a bat swooping past. Another is if you get knotted up just hold line in the black light .. You also look like a space ship if you run with the black lights. You may already know this but i got hip to all this few years back and it's really my favorite way to catch pig smallys.. Here some from July
  17. Are you fishing from shore or a boat?
  18. the world record was caught trolling a bigger crank 6xd is a great bait. If your not getting your bait deep enough ............. try "long lining"
  19. Do you use Night line n a high power led black light ?
  20. Ever Try a top water over the grass ? Small popper, I really like the x pod jr. How it walks and splashes.
  21. No fish weighed, I'd put it 3lbs something 4 tops
  22. I dint know if depth plays a roll but Deeper smallys are always light in color, shallower they get the darker...
  23. Steep Rocky breaks near a creek or river channel
