  1. I live in North East Oklahoma. We are heading down to Lake Texoma to visit my wife's grandparents. Supposed to be in the mid 50's! I'll have a rod or 2 with me!
  2. A few years back my dad and I purchased a grinder from BPS. What a great investment! We grind up everything except the loins and back strap. We make short work of a quartered deer in about 30 minutes. One de-bones and the other grinds. That chili was scrumptious by the way!
  3. You got a better deal than I did. The discount sticker on mine was $1.00! I always save a bunch on Wal-Mart close outs. This past year I scored on some Arkie football head jigs and a bunch of Z-man chatter baits.
  4. Being from and living in Oklahoma I get some odd looks while wearing my Skins gear! I'm stoked that they picked up RG3. The Skins are back baby and they will beat Seattle by 6 points. It will be Denver and Green Bay I believe when it comes down to it though.
  5. Nothing says Happy New Year unless there's a big ol' pot of deer chili on my stove simmering! CHEERS!
  6. I blanked on my first 2 tournaments as well. Most of the guys in my club have asked me if I would like to run their boat for a while. Especially if they have a limit. Most of the time I declined because I just don't have the experience of running a trolling motor. When I did run the trolling motor, it was to keep the boat straight and keep it out of the rocks. That particular time my boater was retying. I just chunked and winded my crank bait and landed my 5 fish for my limit. Dave, the boater was a little agitated. He only had 3 fish. We fished another hour and it was about 25 minutes from the end. He was frustrated and ready to just go back. I talked him into not quitting. He agreed and he pulled up to some docks close to the weigh in ramp. With 10 minutes to go he hooked a chunky 3 pound largemouth. Then 2 casts late hooked a 2 pounder. He placed 1st and I placed 3rd. Later he apologized for his attitude. He told me it wasn't directed at me and didn't want me to think that it was. He also thanked me for encouraging him to not give up and that I could run his boat anytime if I wanted. I have heard that most times if you ask, a lot of guys will allow you to run the boat. I will ask Dave in the future to run his boat. On other guy's I will jump at the opportunity if asked but I will not ask. Darin
  7. I do that all the time Matt996. When I was thumbing through my stuff I found some old Denny Braur Strike King jigs in black/blue. 20+ of them 1/2 oz. I guess I'll have a rod dedicated to that jig this year!
  8. Mine is to take my children fishing more and force myself to make the time to do so.
  9. That's funny right there!
  10. Inline spinners catch anything. They are light and inexpensive. I keep my plastics small. 4"trick worm and small flukes 1/4 oz jigs (you can use the trick worm for a trailer) small crankbaits road runner booyah pond magic spinner baits I use spinning gear and no heavier than #8 flouro or #15 Power Pro 8s8. Medium power rod.
  11. Hmmmmm that may be a problem in some cases. You will never know until you ask. A co-angler or a non boater is the person that fishes from the back of the boat in the tournament. My bass club is always a draw tournament. Meaning, that we find out how many wants to fish that has a boat. Then it is first come first serve for the co-anglers. So lets say there will be 6 boaters. Then there would be 6 co-angler spots. When it is a draw tournament names are paired by basically drawing names out of a hat and pairing them with the boaters. A team tournament is when the boater and co-angler hook up every tournament. In Oklahoma we have a club that restricts the use of motors. Belly boat, boats with trolling motors, kayaks, etc are used only. I am sure a person could bank fish in a tournament like that. You just have to go by the rules. Fishing in tournaments can get expensive. I personally give my boater a minimum of $40 bucks for gas. Tournament fee is $25. So bare bones I'm out $65. There is no written rule on having to give them any money for gas. I just choose to do so. PM me if you find a belly boat club. I can give you some insights how that works.
  12. I should have typed more clearly. I was joking more about the infomercial than the bait itself. It's kind of a going joke with my buddies. We always throw out, when we're getting skunked, if we have purchased the "miracle" bait. No disrespect.
  13. Sounds great ChipsXJ. I just joined Owasso Bass Club this last year. I haven't had the time until now to fish as much as I used to. I had to give up playing ice hockey. I'm just getting to old to recoup from the minor injuries.
  14. I am far from organized! I have so much "stuff" scattered here and there it's hard to keep up with. I think the only plastic I don't have is the banjo minnow!
  15. I fish as a non-boater. I found a local B.A.S.S. affiliated club in my hometown. There are some great articles out there on being a co-angler and co-angler etiquette.
  16. Well I spent about 3 hours on tackle this morning. I found some intersting stuff I forgot that I had. Anyone remember the Strike King 3X baits? I found quite a few of those! I also am going to post some stuff for sale in the "flea market" forum. What are some of your most intersting finds while sorting tackle?
  17. I went to. Flick shake, LT, Senkos, and some rage toads!
  18. 5" Zoom magnum finesse. Pumpkin seed with the tail dipped in chartreuse spike it garlic.
  19. I always go to at least one. I don't normally spend much. But. . . . this year the expo of all expo's is coming to Tulsa. The BASS master Classic is in Tulsa and I plan on spending HUNDREDS!
  20. I will keep this in mind when I'm trying to take some of my entry fees back this coming March!
  21. All I received was a "Happy Happy Happy" Duck commander shirt. I couldn't have been any happier! Besides she's letting me sock away some spending money for the Classic expo when B.A.S.S comes in late February!
  22. jbsoonerfan I made the Open back then too. I only live 15 minutes from the BOK center and about an hour from Grand Lake. I can't wait!
