  1. Thanks for the encouraging words. I might launch tomorrow. It's going to reach 51 degrees, which seems warm enough to catch bass, but the preceding 30 hours will be in the thirties and I'm worried that whereas the air will seem warm enough to bass to bite, the water won't be.
  2. I troll them way behind my canoe, mostly in the dark. I think I've caught five doubles in 2.5 years. You'd think a double would be double the fun, but not really. They don't fight in concert. A single bass is more fight and more fun. Here are two more doubles. The second one is the 19-incher and 17-incher and the final photo is the same 19-incher in a lip and grip:

  4. I mostly believe this, however, in our species and other species, like dogs, our metabolic rates drop as we age. If this is also true with bass, a pond could support a higher total weight of larger bass than smaller bass with their higher metabolic rates, which means they'd eat more.
  5. @N Florida Mike: Golly, Mike, you're yet another in the Spring 2025 Big Bass Club! What a spring it's been for most of the Big Resource gang. As I recall, it started with @AlabamaSpothunter with his seven, eight, and nine-pounders. Every time @softwateronly steps on his magic rock, he catches a big bin of footballs. @Pat Brown has also caught many giants and @Bluebasser86 goes to Texas, launches his little boat, and proceeds to catch huge bass...just like that. Yeah, his Kansas bass-catching savvy works down south too. Rockhopper caught a DD and then followed that up with an 8-11. @Dwight Hottle seems to catch a giant every three days. @Smirak boated a beauty. @Team9nine is a bass-catching machine. @bp_fowler has launched and is catching more bass than ever. @Bazoo is putting his boy on fish and @IcatchDinks somehow managed to go fishing, despite being a busy papa. @TnRiver46 is catching his usual menagerie and @Lottabass landed some beauties. @king fisher has caught some Mexico mega-bass and Jake, @Pat Brown's boy, is enjoying a spring to make the birds sing. @Pumpkin Lizard is scoring with...wait for it...a pumpkin lizard and the Texas Viking hoisted this hefty: So, @Fishlegs said, "What about me?" So, @flatcreek got in the What-about-me game too: @928JLH keeps landing beauties. My wrist aches from seeing all these bass. If you're wondering why I haven't contributed a single 2025 bass to the board, it's snowing here...again...and again. However, I did drag my new canoe down to my pond yesterday evening. She's sitting on my dock, ready to launch, which I hope to do on Monday, but to a big bass bog. Fingers crossed it's not too cold for the bass to bite!
  6. It's sad that we're so scattered and can't ring each other to say, "Wanna go catch some bass this evening?"
  7. I think many of us at Bass Resource would love to have Alex take us fishing too.
  8. I mounted two YakAttack tracks to my NEXT's thwart today and stuck some rubber on the gunwales. Then I took it to my pond, rolled it through the woods, and dragged it over my boardwalk. So, it's on my dock and ready to go! I might take it out next week. It's still in the low forties here for highs and the thirties at night, so I'm guessing we need a little more warmth to activate the bass, but I will fish a big bass bog on Monday afternoon with my Kevlar canoe when it'll hit 52 degrees for one day.
  9. Been there, did that too!
  10. I do too. I enjoyed a couple evenings last year when the Bronco Bug was THE lure they wanted. At one point, I caught five open water bass in five casts with the Bronco Bug.
  11. Well put, @Pat Brown.
  12. FWIW, Ploppers are my best two at a time lure. They're also great for nighttime trolling. I once caught a 19-incher and a 17-incher at the same time on a Plopper. Here is a smaller pair:
  13. Yep, fish for bluegills. They're a blast. So are white bass.
  14. I'm finally buying less gear. When I first came to Bass Resource, this lure and that were suggested and I bought them all. I literally have shelves in my basement full of gear. I just won't live long enough to use it all. So, I only buy what I need and because I need it, I'll pay full price if there's no sale.
  15. Bad news. I'm in Chicago right now. You gave me the rock's coordinates, so I hired a crane to lift your rock onto a flatbed. I'm taking it back to Maine!
  16. Talented and humble.
  17. I've paddled kayaks thousands of miles and thus have some familiarity with them and even though I prefer the lighter weight of a canoe, I think kayaks are unsurpassed among boats at putting you near the fish, which is exciting. You'd have to wade to have a more immersive experience.
  18. Nice photo, Ryan, and welcome to Bass Resource.
  19. I enjoyed a high water situation in a weed-choked bog two years ago. The higher water completely covered Lily pads, so instead fishing between the pads and winching bass out of them, I fished over the pads and had enough water stop the pads to boat bass much more easily.
  20. To replace the loss of one pro tour with screens, there could be a third tour where viewers would watch teenagers at a mall staring at their cell phones. The audience could bet on which one will order the most food. There would be a weigh-in where the teens would hold up their Sbarro slices, Auntie Anne pretzels, and Cinnabons.
  21. The Lindners, who represent northern bassers.
  22. When I fished the Mississippi and Lakes Superior and Michigan, I always got a kick out of catching the most fish from the smallest, oldest boat with my old Johnson 6 HP. You don't need a big, expensive boat to succeed.
  23. Smart. Wild boar deaths were tracked worldwide over a 20-year span and averaged 8.6 human deaths a year. I lived on a pig farm and developed a healthy fear of them. I love the stories as much as the photos.
  24. @Rockhopper: Wow. Just wow! You are part of a big pack that's oh-so hot. Meanwhile, I cast from the shore again this afternoon and skunked again. I don't think bass like when I stand on snow. I did get a hit on a fluke.
