  1. I've only used two: My best lure has been a chrome Whopper Plopper 90. My second best lure has been a bone River 2 Sea popper.
  2. @gimruis gone crazy catching bass!
  3. It makes us sad too. Remember those "Girls Gone Wild" videos? I think @gimruis should film his fishing and release some "Gimruis Gone Wild" videos.
  4. Me too! #impatiencecatchesbass
  5. I'm so proud of you, @gimruis, and so happy for you.
  6. I wrote that you skitter like a water spot, which makes no sense. I meant water spider. I'm impatient too! I'll often cast a lure once and switch rods. I take five to seven rods. I'd take more, but more rods means more tangling. I'm 44.4 degrees north. We are pretty, but I think you're spots are even prettier.
  7. One of the the qualities that make you a successful fisherman, PDX, is you skitter like a water spot, fishing hither and yon. And you keep changing your lures until you find where and what works. Those are beautiful bass in a beautiful place.
  8. Ah, so you're a family man and a working man! I wish I could help you. I don't carry a thermometer. I live on the coast of Maine and the only thing I've learned is that come October, it can be too cold in the pre-light morning for bass to hit. @PhishLI taught me to fish mid-day, which I'll be doing next week.
  9. How long/heavy was that first bass? I sure love seeing A-Jay's gorgeous bass.
  10. A 20-lb. bag of largemouths is easier than smallies. I would love to fish where you fish. It's one of the prettiest places that BR members fish, IMO. Heartbreaking, @WVU-SCPA. I love how you and your father talked about where you'd wade and what you'd cast. You are a wonderful son.
  11. You don't just "get out." You're a heckuva fisherman.
  12. You just click on GIF in a box above where you type your text and do a search for whatever image you want. Easy-peasy and fun. Your taters, sausage, and fat Maine bass await you, my BR brother. Since trestles look like roller coasters, I'll just say "Whee!" when you tie me to the one above.
  13. You think you're shady? Here's some video of Bob tying me to the railroad tracks yet again:
  14. I'm assuming @gimruis's hot streak is going to continue, so I'm pre-posting his next fishing trip report: I went musky fishing with a buddy this afternoon and we landed nine, but four were over 40 inches and the biggest was 44". We also caught another five-pound smallie and a four-pound LMB. #Minnesotapalooza
  15. Even a hardened windshield like you has to take a turn or two as the bug. Sometimes I'll land a string of bass and think that I'm the best. Then I'll lose a string of bass and think that I'm the worst.
  16. I love the shape of your Kansas bass! I think they're the most footbally bass posted at BR. I don't know what my biggest bass was. It might have been one of these two girls, caught on Whopper Ploppers in the dark. I caught several bass that were longer, but these two were the thickest:
  17. Alex, I hope you're right about 5-6-pound largemouth fighting harder than bigger ones. I've worried that I couldn't land an 8-pounder based upon the strength of the five and six-pounders I've caught. Yes, @TnRiver46 made me happy for finally catching a bass the proper way.
  18. ONLY 6.6? Ha! She was strong. What a fighter. What a jump too. Hooray for @gimruis too! A second day of multiple big bass in one week. Whoa! And @Team9nine keeps on scoring.
  19. Swamp Girl replied to Ski's topic in Fishing Reports
Heck, yeah, that was a good day!
  20. My takeaway is to wait until later in the day to go fishing in the fall. They are getting so cold-pokey in the morning. As far as feeling bad, I was just funnin'. I loved this morning's fishing. Who wouldn't love paddling that little lake with the geese and ducks honking?
  21. Speaking of The Griz and being past one's prime, the griz below is at her utter peak and just won Fat Bear Week because of her fishing prowess:
  22. I think when @gimruis was a kid, there was a barber clown who lived in the sewers, terrorized him and his buddies, and threatened to return if he was ever needed again. So, Gimruis works overtime to make sure the clown is never needed again.
  23. Yes, I did. And this is how I feel:
  24. ^This!^ I lived on the lower Wisconsin for several years and there are more places without fish than with fish. However, it does hold big smallies. I'd try dunking the biggest shiner you can find in deeper water. Drop-offs can produce too, as can wood.
  25. I hate to say it, but I couldn't crack the code this morning. I fished the backs of bays, points, deep, weeds, and flats. I fished big lures and small lures. I fished fast and slow. I tried a fluke, buzzbait, a squarebill, various surface lures, and so on. I pounded the inflow and outflow. I caught eight. My best lure was a black Senko. Last year, I was catching steadily and then suddenly my count dropped to single digits and stayed there. I wonder if I'm at the same point, that the water has literally chilled and has figuratively chilled the bite. The first pic is representative of seven of the bass. The second one was my big one. The last pic is the pond. I did love the morning. It was melancholy with the ducks and geese honking, which means summer is done and snow is coming. Thanks for the advice!
