  1. @LrgmouthShad: a 19 and a bunch of seventeens sounds like one of my trips.
  2. Boy, a lot of tight lines lately. I'm happy for all you guys and Lynn.
  3. Al, that bass in the bottom pic has linebacker shoulders.
  4. @Mbirdsley: Those are some stout bass! @Pat Brown just keeps on keepin' on.
  5. I love wading too. I also love seeing the chef bassing with joy.
  6. I have yet to use one for bass, but as I slowly try the various lures, I'm sure I have a buzz bait in my future. They sure worked for muskies.
  7. They're all I used and I have no complaints.
  8. The ponds I fish have bass chasing bait on the surface early and late. There's one reeeeaaaaalllll fishy looking spot near me that I've never bothered to probe because I've never seen a bass chasing bait.
  9. Big ones! Whadda day!
  10. I know it well. I once lived on the Wisconsin River and fished it most summer mornings for smallmouth.
  11. I won't be fishing for this coming week, starting tomorrow morning. Family calls. So, I'm counting on all of you to keep posting your bass! I am going fishing right now for an hour and a half at my pond. Well, I fished my pond for two hours and caught 23. It was pretty windy, so I didn't take many photos. I started with three off my boardwalk. Here was one of them: My camera battery died and so I took a few pics of bass with my cell phone after the wind died down a bit: I caught all but one on a T-rigged purple worm. I'm at 501 bass for the year.
  12. It was 43 when I launched, @IcatchDinks, way warmer than @Jar11591's mid-thirties, but he's inland, which means he gets both hotter and colder than coastal Maine.
  13. I caught 27 this morning at my pal's pond in three hours, giving me 478 for the year. I T-rigged six different soft plastics and they all caught fish. I'm slowly learning that just about any soft plastic will catch a bass. I caught a mix of largemouth and smallmouth, including a 19-incher. Here: Here's an 18-incher: And a skinny smallie: And an average bass:
  14. If I ever filmed for YouTube, my catchphrase would be, "Well, yep, here's another one."
  15. Well, then, I'm glad you caught some beautiful smallmouth.
  16. Dave, are there largemouth or smallmouth in Australia?

Woo-hoo! You are just living your best life!!!
  18. I did that too on my pal's pond. A guy staying at the AirBnb hadn't caught anything, so I gave him a Mepp's spinner and told him to troll it because I wanted to give him a foolproof way to catch a bass. About five minutes later, he yelled, "I caught one!" I told him to keep the lure and pay it forward. Yeah, it looks like it's been dragged through a few briar patches...because it has!
  19. I don't actually know anyone with a bling boat, Al, but I think FFS showing you exactly where to cast could mask some deficiencies. Of course, FFS requires its own screen-reading skill set. The kind of wetland fishing I do requires four skills: precise paddling, accurate casting, feeling a bite, and playing a bass with obstacles in every direction. These four skills have nearly nothing in common with offshore FFS fishing where there's no paddling, open water casting, you can see the bite on the screen, and there are no obstacles once you've hooked a bass. Of course, I look NOTHING like the pros on TV. I'd be lost in a bling boat reading the screens and I wonder if they'd be lost in my canoe.
  20. Congrats on the fast action. I used to live in Wisconsin. Where were you fishing?
  21. Exciting! Your favorite lake is one of the most beautiful places fished by the BR gang. It harbors big bass too! I'm going fishing three times this week too, starting with tomorrow morning.
  22. @Lottabass: You're landing some fine fish, Al. Proud of ya!

Thursday and Friday mornings look good, i.e cloudy and calm. Fingers crossed you can cross some bass eyes soon!
  24. And I respect you for writing this.
  25. Hey, we fish alike. I love the 4's. Well fished, DB!
