  1. Oh boy here we go on this topic. It out to get interesting.
  2. So far so good. I split the spool I had between the baitcaster and a spinning rod. It has been night and day from the mono (Momoi Hi-Catch) I had been using. Never used braid before but I am a convert now. Will probably be testing it with a leader this weekend. Overruns on the baitcaster have been easy to fix and it has not gotten stuck at all. Just loosen the spool and pull the line out until it is clear. Mono would hang up on spots. With the spinning gear I have not gotten one single wind knot. No loops on the spool. The green color matches my waters perfectly so I don't feel that I really need a leader. I have been using the San Diego Jam knot to the terminal tackle and nothing has slipped out been using the same hook for ever a week and been fishing daily for 90 mins each day. Love this stuff.
  3. The trick I have found to make it easy to tie the SDJ is to place the hook around something as you make the twists around the line. Sorta like a third hand. I have a spot on my tackle box the use to put a little tension and off I go. Hope that helps you out. Dumped the palomar after trying the SDJ.
  4. Oh that's rough. I can see why it would drive you nuts and that opening day has got to be insane with all the people getting it out of their system. I feel for you man.
  5. It's probably easier to cast with a spinning real but I find the accuracy to be not as good. Baitcasters allow you to cast more often but it's a skill you have to work with. Starting I would say spinning but eventually you will want both.
  6. That's awesome!! Nicely done.
  7. Most of the bass around here seem to be that dark. The water is pretty shallow and the sun never stops. Lol
  8. I guess we will go with 2-3lbs. it was a fun one to catch. That tuf-line braid has been awesome!!
  9. I'm in florida so forgive me, but is that a law? Like deer season?
  10. Ok I got the file uploaded. I think. Lol
  11. Dang tried to upload the pic and the file is too big.
  12. Just caught this guy this morning I think it's at least 5lbs. The reel is a penn fierce 4000. Probably need to invest in a scale. Lol
  13. Do they taste like chicken. Lol
  14. At least you read the email, that's a start with the electronics.
  15. Find a high spot so you can see the structure below the water. Look for cover and try to cast parallel to the waterline for you can. And avoid the branches above you. Lol
  16. X2 on the San Diego Jam. I dumped the palomar after I learned the SDJ I found it much easier to tie.

I have a photo on my phone but its too big to upload.
  18. Why was I afraid of the stuff I don't know, but I was. I took advantage of the Tuf-Line offer and I could not be more pleased. Felt the bites better got better hook ups. Since this is my first time with braid, are the other brands the same?

I am grinning ear to ear about my seven year old son. See today he joined the ranks and caught his first bass in his own. He tangled his line and I tossed out my bait already. I told him to work the senko back slowly on my rod as I deranged his line. Next thing I hear him say. I felt a fish!!! The fish is on. I told him to bring it in. The fish jumped once and he was able to control it all the way back to the shore. He was grinning ear to ear. He was so proud. Such a great day!!!
  20. What has made me better is this site, and YouTube videos. I learned how to do something then I hit the water to practice them. Every technique that I don't know something about I lookup and hopefully someone has posted a video to see what to do. Subscribe to Bassresource's videos, that's how I found this site. I was completely green less than a year ago. I did not even know what a shad was, this morning I caught 6 bass in 45mins before having to go to work. Still a ton of stuff to learn. Read and apply what you learned on the water.
  21. Lol I worry about alligators and water moccasins. No way am I goin into S. Florida waters. Just today I am by a lake and one of the Gator Boys was cycling by and asked me if I saw the gator. Lol great fishing here but...
  22. Thanks folks. These are all great ideas/locations to try.
  23. Did you have filler on your spool or did you just fill your spool?
