went to Olathe a couple times this week and caught whites guess im the white bass king now. they were chasing shad in the shallows. Melvern same thing caught several whites in small square bill shad that I didn't put down all day when I probably should have. Salenity stole my 4 pound smallie I will let him explain back in the cove at the end of the dam opposite of the outlet. thanks for taking me out salinity I really enjoy learning new things from new boaters.

we kill them all go bow fishing its a blast, there a nuisance around here and they will stunt a ponds population, of course I have more then one in mine but they will all be dead by end of fall.

Got a call from Kansasbassfisher wanted to go to the pond so we did and he caught a 10 lb cat on a crankbait . Fishing was steady for me but no monsters. then on the second trip around the pond I LET kansasbassfiher catch this baby 5-6 pounder close to a pond record I probably wont invite him again

I have a 500-600$ rig and a 45$ rig guess which one has caught more fish 45$ rig wins. once on a guided trip I had my expensive rig and the guide was impressed and wanted to use all day I let him for a few minutes but guess who caught the most fish and the biggest fish that day ( that I paid for) my girlfriend at the time who never fished before and the guide let her use his old zebco thumb caster

ok just a thought here. if you go to the general topic discussion and look up the challenge to all fisherman section there a guy raising money to put a fishing combos in the hands of kids in need. now to the point. I would like to see if anyone during our turny would be interested in donating ( I think its 10$ for a combo rod and real) or even better an entry fee of 10 dollars a person ALL proceeds go to a charity of our choice. first we come up with charities we have in mind then vote on 1 that we would like to help. just a thought let me know what you think my feelings wont be hurt but im really in to helping out our fishing community or others in need. we also can donate to a different charity of our choice each turny also just an idea.

I have a 10 acre pond ive been throwing jigs with rage craw paca craw trailers in peanut butter and jelly colors caught a ton then when they got sick of that I threw a purple and black square bill crank and wow what a day. when it gets a little later in the day almost sunset I threw top water anything and they killed it. of course a spinner bait does a pretty good job. I do fish from a pond hopper boat so that helps a lot. a good thing about a pond you can throw everything at it in a short period of time and figure them out pretty quick but I would start with those basics mentioned above. I must add that mine is mostly timber and no lilies so there is a little difference and im in Kansas.

of course a boat is a huge investement but im only talking a bout a little pond small lake hopper I can get almost everywhere I want to go with it and yes I have got out to hit spots on land before but usually I cant access those spots from land by walking (which means there not pressured a lot). I think it also depend if your a fairweather fisherman and you like to drive up to your spot and fish or your willing to beat the bushes to get those hard to reach spots. also here in Kansas most lakes are surrounded by a good portion of heavy woods which makes it impossible to get to except by boat. now when can I get invited to Cali to catch some of those monsters FISH CHRIS boat or no boat. wish we had that size out here.

I was a bank fisherman until I decided to get a 2 man pond hopper best thing I ever did not only could I hit the places I hit on shore now I can hit the whole lake which doubles my capacity to catch fish. I got a 2 man for 100$ and a 55lb thrust trolling motor 100$ all on craigslist. my battery cost 100$ but I bought it new which I would do since you will want a good power source. its easy to load and unload cause I have a truck I agree with bluesbasser once you get one your shore days are over. of course your limited to smaller lakes but have more opportunities to get the big ones when they move from the shallows to deeper water just my opinion cause ive done it . if you go to the bass raider plastic boat blog on here they will show you how to deck one out but its costly to do what they do to them.

I like the bass hunter its pre wired for running lights has a livewell aerated and mine is rated for a 7 hp motor and I like its deep well to keep it more stable just depends on what you want to spend. I have both one just for pond ( bass raider) and the other I can take on small lakes(bass hunter).

wyandotte county lake might be good olathe also I wouls say melvern but It depend how far you wanna go

im not sure if I wanna catch something that would use me as its bait but a nice gator anyhow.

I hope you put the fish back many years ago so you will at least have a small chance of getting it back. either way still a privledge to get a bass that size keep up the good work.

caught around 12 - 15 fish yesterday with 2 catfish in the bunch our biggest were 14 and a quarter inches.

I was always taught to take them bluegill or crappie fishing to get them excited about catching fish and to be a guide. don't bring your pole and give all attention to them until they start asking to go. now I learned something new bring plenty of snacks and drinks ( thx road warrior). my wife hates fishing which is ok with me cause one of the reasons I go is to get away from her roflmao. but those techniques worked in the past with girlfriends and kids.
