  1. Hey guys! Just thought about this and curious what others think. If you could ONLY have 3 setups (all bait casting) in your boat (or on land) what would they be? length power action and line
  2. Wish I had the same luck as you guys with DSG. I guess I have Obama to thank for fishing not being ethical or politically correct anymore. They just put in a new DSG by me and they don't even have a fishing section. The other one by me has about 2 aisles SMH. I took about a 45 min drive to the DSG with the biggest fishing section around me and was disappointed they had everything I wanted except none in the right color
  3. I about fainted when I saw the price! I haven't spent more than $300 on a combo let alone $500 for just a reel
  4. Probably rebel popr however really want to try the new LIVETARGET frog popper
  5. I am a proud owner of both just like many others on here. The PQ is definitely without a doubt the best $100 reel on the market as I recently researched and bought what I thought to be the best $100 reel (pq). This being said I also just bought a Johnny Morris signature series ($159.99) and I think it blows the pq out of the water. Especially for only 60 bucks more I think it's worth that and then some. However many people don't have the luxury of spending that extra 60 so they go with the pq. Also many people looking for a high end reel usually don't go with a store brand which would make the pq even higher seller over the jm. All in all the pq is an amazing reel and what I believe to be the best seller
  6. First adjust your brake to make sure the lure falls but not too fast (I prefer faster than many but this is a basic guideline). Then adjust your magnetic brakes to 10 as many have said. As soon as you get more comfortable slowly turn down the magnetic brakes. Hope I could help
  7. Very interested in this as my friend has the older one. Has anyone used or picked up the new one that has any thoughts?
  8. Now just to let you know my friend and I went back and forth for about 2 hours on this topics except for all jigs. I usually use net bait paca chunks because of the 2 buck price tag vs a rage chunk 5.50. I hadn't personally used the rages before but hadn't had the durability issues of the pacachunks he complained of. Now after nagging me at bps for quite a while he convince me to get the rages and haven't used them but I think they are going to get more action and tear less easily so my verdict is rage chunks if you are ok with the 5.50 price tag otherwise go for the paca chunks
  9. Shallow: LC RT 1.5 Mid: Spro Lil John Deep: Don't fish deep
  10. Thanks guys sorry for the lack of specificity but i wanted to hear everyones gut feeling. I'm fishing from shore mostly. Im relatively new to baitcasters but have learned very fast and am plenty efficient with them. That being said I fish mostly shallow probably 10ft absolute max. I use a lot of squarebills and lipless cranks hence the crankbait rod. So I think I'm set in the cranking category. I'll carry probably a max of 2 or 3 rods at a time but can always switch in and out. I use the 7ft mh f as an all around setup for everything other than cranks. I'm hoping to use the new setup for a lot of spinnerbaits and topwater but don't want to limit it. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks again!
  11. I currently have... 7ft MH Fast with 6:4:1 reel and 12lb mono 7ft M Mod Crankbait with 6:4:1 reel and 15lb fluorocarbon I am interested in getting another rod/reel just to have another one to use different baits. I would probably put braid on it to have a setup with braid. What to you think would be good to add to my repetuar? Thanks!
  12. From what ive heard there is an internal manufacturing issue on all of them. Because of this if you are ok spending 30 bucks more get the signature. If not, go for the pro qualifier its great!
  13. As of right now it would have to be LC RT 1.5. This being said if i was on a budget it would be xcalibur xcs100 although im really excited to try out my new 6th sense crush 50x

Thanks guys! I actually just decided to take a trip to bps a buy some. Cant beat the price of 3.50 a jig compared to at least 30 startup when i only use 4
  15. Zoom super fluke (pearl white, watermelon red, baby bass, Arkansas shiner) rigged with a 5/0 twist lock hook. Throw it anywhere and reel slowing while twitching
  16. For specifically swimming a grub I actually like a swimbait head (buckeye jwill swimbait head) but if you are mixing it up every cast with different retrieves just stay with a round ball jighead

I am going to make some jigs and am deciding colors. I keep hearing black/blue and black/red and then natural colors. Me being colorblind I can't really determine the natural colors. Can you please help me with color combinations from fishingnskirts.com? Thank you in advance! Btw I also posted this in fishing tackle but figured people making them would know the color patterns better

I've seen a lot of topics based around jigs but haven't been able to find one about color preferences. So, I am goin to make some of my own skirts and am really curious what color combinations people like on their jigs. Thanks in advance for your help!
  21. Still waiting on my first "jig" bass too. Ive caught plenty on a kvd swim jig but i dont even really consider that a jig to be honest. My problem is the patience with a football or finesse jig
  22. I was in the same boat a few months ago and decided for the carbonlite. Everyone seemed to love it and i couldnt get past the carbonlite being extremely light weight while also having an extremely strong backbone. I laso loved the sensitivity of the carbonlite vs the veritas even when you pick them up in the store. All things said, you probably couldnt go wrong with either one but i would go with the carbonlite as a proud happy owner of one! Good luck with your decision.
  23. Thank you so much everyone! I am relatively new to bass resource and it is so helpful seeing everyone's opinions. Thanks again and good luck to everyone next spring!
