Jig Colors Why Do We Limit Ourselves?
And to say there is not alot of color choices in jigs is crazy. Plenty to choose from. Or are you saying that people only use certain colors of all those choices such as green pumpkin and black and blue? I agree with WW2. Color is not that important to me.

Good Crank That Run's 10-12 Feet?
Thanks all. DT series says they stay in the zone longer. Does this mean they suspend? I found a cheap fat free shad suspending on Ebay I will try. I have some DD22 (not suspending) I will try on shorter cast. The fish are suspended about 10-12' down over deep water. I have in the past drilled a hole in a crank and added a couple bb's to make it suspend.

Good Crank That Run's 10-12 Feet?
Thanks. Since I want a cool water bait, I would like a suspending crank. How about a Fat Free Shad suspending? Flatter sides with less wobble might be better too?

Good Crank That Run's 10-12 Feet?
I have been doing well with shallow squarebills, but looking for something that goes a little deeper to run through the suspended schhols. Will a DT10 go 10' with 20#PP braid on a long cast?

Shallow Water Ponds In Fall
Suspending jerkbait would be my choice in your situation. Couple jerks and pause to let it suspend a few seconds to 15 secs. A mojo rig dragged slowly too. I did well on a suspending squarebill today in 55* water ...Bill

Keeping A Largemouth As A Pet
I keep central and south american cichlids (predatory fish) This summer I put a 10" bass, a 6" crappie, and a 6" bluegill in one of my 75g. Was cool but as said the bass was a bully and the crappie and BG hid all the time. It ate ALOT too. Shiners and nightcrawlers were getting expensive. They would not touch pellets. I couldnt pass the tank without him begging for more food. It has been said in nature it takes 10 pounds of food for a bass to gain 1 pound Also fish tanks need maintainence. Although tank is filtered, bass are very messy (pee and poop). These byproducts must be removed by large weekly water changes. I would say get a 55g tank on craigslist for $100 or so and give it a shot. Read up on http://www.cichlid-forum.com/ Learn about the bacteria cycle in a tank. Some people get large rubbermaid tubs or horse water holders and put in a basement or garage.

My Pfd Testimonial.
Glad you and your friend are OK. Thanks for sharing and reminding us all how dangerous it can be. Couple years ago I fell in after my pedestal chair broke. Luckily It was summer. But as you said, it is startling and I did panic even though the boat was upright and I was not far away. I can swim but swimming with clothes on is more difficult. I tired faster than I thought and had a hard time getting back in the boat. I now have an inflatable belt on at all times (manually if I pull the Co2 pin). It is comfortable and unabtrusive. I do admitthat I dont wear the regular PFD as much as I should when running the big motor. http://www.stearnsflotation.com/Sospendersreg-16-Gram-Manual-Belt-Pack-P99.aspx

Nothin wrong with Zoom baits. They usually get the job done.

Light Strikes On A Weightless Texas Rig
Usually when bluegill hit it, you will feel more of a rapid tap tap tap. Many times they grad the tail and run off with it and almost pull the rod from your hands. Bass is usually a single thump or tick. Most often the slowly move away with it. Bass usually dont let go of a Senko. When you fell that tick dont do anything drastic. Gently pull the line tight with the rod. If you feel weight you most likely have a bass on. Or the line will swim away in a different direction.I wait up to 15 secs to set the hook. As I said a bass will rarely spit it.

Estimate My Bass Weight!
Great fish especially for NY. Must be old and wise. Coming from NY myself I know fish up there are usually like footballs. Short and fat. I estimate 22" or so and 6-7#. Fish in my avatar was 24" and i guess 7-8#. My digital scale came in the mail the following day LOL.

Spinnerbaits
Like eatlessfish says a combo of 3.5, 4, or 4.5 will work well on a 1/2 oz

Anyone Else Throw A Square Bill Almost All Year
I started using squarebills this summer and have done well with them. I switch between a Baker Lures RGD1 (about 3') and RGD2 (about 6'). Same body size between the two just different bills. I cast the RGD1 as close to shore, rocks, and retaining walls as possible and twitch it a few times like a jerkbait. These cranks suspend and get hammered pretty hard when paused. The RGD2 I use along shore or under tree branches on steeper banks. I can cover alot of ground this way and find active fish. They will get followed often so dont forget to pause and erratic rod and reeling action is key. If you have bought or might buy these Bake cranks, you MUST make sure they have rattles in them. If not they were manufactured wrong and wont suspend at all. Unfortunately a bunch like this made it into the market and warehouses. I'm looking foward to using these in the winter and spring along side my LC Pointer.

C-Rigging Crankbaits!
I would lose a crank every cast due to debrey on the bottom

Soft Plastic
Spike-it unscented works well.

Soft Plastic Jerkbaits Vs. Hard Jerkbaits... Kind Of A Rant?
I like fishing soft in shallow weedy lakes or shallow brush. In open and cooler water I prefer a hard.

Looking For New Jig Trailers ?
Here is a Basstackle 702 craw. It is 3.75" and the best action craw trailer I have used. It is very popular with small hand injected companies and many make it. I'm sure you could search and find it. Dont think I'm allowed to link any companies here. BTW I dont sell baits anymore so please dont ask.

I'm A Believer Are You???
My buddy took me to a small farm pond his friend owns. He has caught the same 10 pounder out of it numerous times. The landowner says "kill that big #$%&@ who keeps eating my crappie". He just releases her back and doesn't tell him

What Is Your Go-To Fall Bait??
I have been doing well with a suspendind squarebill lately. I cover alot of ground as the fish are starting to feed up and pretty aggressive.
