These are pretty gruesome. Not surprised the conversation has turned to drinks True. The Miller makes a pretty poor disinfectant too (but don't use too much of the whiskey on your wounds, it's good for other things.) In that price range I'll almost always reach for the Buffalo Trace. Occasionally George Dickel Rye or Knob Creek. Evan Williams is $10, and is better than most whiskeys costing double that (imho.)

I scored 2 packs of Rage craws, 1 pack of Rage structure bugs, a Cotton Cordell medium diving crank in firetiger (love these things,) a Zara Spook in black/bone, a floating glasses retainer (going to get used a lot) and a Turtle8 multi-tool. Also packed in was an Al Agnew throw blanket with a really nice buck design on it, and a pontoon boat Christmas ornament (pictured hanging from our tree.) Perhaps the best part.... food. Thanks again! We're really enjoying the pumpkin bread and I'll get to the gummy worms before too long. I might try to wacky rig one and see what I can catch, as I've wanted to do that for a while.

I agree. In my area I have close access to free flowing rivers, tidal rivers and several different types of reservoirs. Bass patterns can vary greatly between 2 spots a few miles apart on the tidal Potomac, let alone between the tidal Potomac and Occoquan Res. With that said, most lakes in Minnesota are far older than 50 years.

Mono for traps, and most other baits that have treble hooks.

Did a lot of spybaiting this year, and it worked out well.

That's an impressive rig. I used photos of your canoe as inspiration when I built mine up to fish the small water and electric only lakes we have around here. Tonight is the first time that I've seen the photos of it in storage, and I am almost more impressed with them than I am with the fully rigged canoe. Nice work!

All of the programs on your mobile phone are apps. Even if you have an ancient non-smart phone there are apps. (the dialer, text messaging, etc.) Applications (apps) are used on computers as well as phones. Your web browser, office applications, photoshop, turbo tax, etc. are all apps. In modern colloquial terminology "app" usually refers to a smart phone application that can be downloaded from the web. The original poster is asking if there is a Bass Resource app that they can download to their smartphone/tablet so that they don't have to use a mobile web browser to access the site. This is a common question and there have been countless previous threads asking this same question. The answer has always been no.

My friend Edwin has caught at least 3 Maryland state record fish since I've known him. 11-5 LMB, 8-7 SMB and a 4lb yellow perch. Dude could care less about recognition for these catches. I have to admit though, when I caught the snakehead in my avatar I thought I had the one. It weighed in at a weak 18lb on my 30lb. Boga Grip (world record northern snakehead is 17-12.) I went straight home to weigh it on my good scale, it only went 17-4 Needless to say, I was ready to get it certified by the IGFA. When I saw the weight my heart sank, and I then filleted the fish for the BBQ. In hind sight I could've possilby set a line class record as the fish was caught on 6lb test, but it was tasty. Beautiful fish.

Nice looking boat. The advice in this thread will get you where you need to be. Definitely take it for a spin if you're going to spend your money on it. On a side note, it never ceases to amaze me the vagueness of used boat ads. I know for certain that if I were selling a boat that I would list the actual model #'s of the electronics, trolling motors, etc., as well as detailed information about the boat/upgrades/maintenance. I also wish I had a buck for every boat ad that I've read that included a "trolley motor." lol

Not if he worked for Rapala. JFrancho, I bet you could do a good business working independently as a consultant for multiple companies. I'm assuming only the largest fishing companies are big enough to have somebody with your experience on the payroll full time.

I was caught without my paper license only once. I was shore fishing and my license was in my boat. I had a digital copy on my phone and showed it to the CO, he was satisfied with this. Nowadays I don't really get stopped for a license or boat safety checks, albeit I am usually fishing the same stretch of river and I know all of the CO's and harbor police now (I know them because they used to flag me down me a lot.) Now I'm curious what depth you were fishing at. I catch walleye in 75-80' out here, which to my understanding is about as deep as they'll usually go. Fizzing doesn't really seem like an option at that depth, but maybe I'm wrong. Occasionally I catch crappie in the same area, and sometimes they're dead before I get them to the surface.

The Gunpowder River is by far the best native trout fishery I've discovered in the area. It is C&R/artificials only. The area near Monkton, MD is the most productive. Most of the tributaries in the area hold native brook trout too. There is a small fly fishing shop called Backwater Angler that is owned by friendly folks who will give you good advice. I have a good friend who is a guide out that way, PM me if you want more info.

I've never had an issue with mixing colors. To date my most successful combos have a been black jig with chartreuse trailer (smallmouth killer) and a brown/blue jig with an orange pork rind. These are usually the first thing I'll throw if there's a jig bite. I'm not even sure what a bass thinks it's eating when it hits a jig, all I do know is that they eat them.

Agreed, just make sure to clean/rinse your gear off really well every day after you fish.

The most common way I rig them is on a dropshot. I also like them on a Slider head or as a jig trailer. Pretty much any way that I would rig a regular soft plastic grub. I usually keep black and yellow (they're more yellow than chartreuse) on the boat. Give us an update and let us know how it goes.

You should have scraped the boat and used the bugs to make some catfish dough.
