As for lures use zoom super fluke color white ice, baitfish, and smokin shad are the best with a jig head and use rattle trap in 1/2 oz or 1 1/2oz. For top water I use heddon zara super spook. And if you have the buck then try lucky crafy pointer 95 in american shad color. There's alot more lure out there but im just telling you the one I use often. Also if you wanna sink the use anchovies and blood worm.

It's true that some rod are more sensitive and that you can feel the bite better, but If you're a beginner and if on a budget then stick with your Shakespeare and adjust to it and get the feel of fishing for bass first. Cause what all fishing rod do is catch fish. As you progress with bass fishing and think that you're ready to upgrade that's when you do so. In my experience I myself feel like I upgraded too fast on a baitcaster because I've been on and off bass fishing in the past but now I only been bass fishing seriously for about a year now.

Any alternative way to peg bullet weights? The only way I can think of is pegging bullet weights with toothpicks by inserting the tooth pick in the hole of the bullet weights and breaking the pick off.
