Braid in 50lb (12lb diameter) is what I throw. I know others go even heavier but that is plenty heavy for the areas I fish.

I use 60 lb sunline fx2

50lb or 30lb

30lb braid - 65 Braid. I use 50 on my frog/heavy tw rod. Ill throw the soft plastic toads on a MH rod with 30 as long as the cover isnt super thick. If it is thick, then ill use the frog rod with 50

I use 65 lb braid

50# braid.

I use 50lb braid for most of my frog fishing. Sometimes 30lb if the cover is not super thick, and I have gone as low as 20, especially when throwing the smallish "baby" size frogs.

I only use frogs for snakeheads. The water is vegetated with slop on top, I'm using a spheros 4000 that had 20# braid on a med 7' spinning rod that I wasn't using.

Im another in the 30-65 depending on vegetation thickness. I use 40lb 832 90% of the time. Great braid.

I'm pretty new to fishing as an adult so forgive what may be obvious, but why braid with frogs? I was checking out another thread and they were saying they use "x" for everything but braid for frogs. Is it just because it tends to be around vegetation and braid wears better there? Why not just use heavier mono?

When frog fishing the hardest part is getting the hook in the fish because the frog hooks are the top of the frog so alot of times you hook a bass in the roof of the mouth where its really hard. Braid has zero stretch so when you set the hook you can really drive the hooks home.

Zero stretch gives better hook sets with long casts. I also find that 50/65 lb braid handles and cast better than heavy mono. Braid also "cuts" through lily pads and grass. I seriously doubt that any angler would switch back to heavy mono after catching a couple on braided line. For me personally this is the 1 situation in bassing where there is a clear winner with regard to "best" line.

i use 120Lb braid, its hard to come by cause its for halibut fishing, but works excellent.  just kidding lol

i use 50lb spiderwire and it works excellent. make sure your drag is pretty tight if not locked all the way down as well
