  1. There definitely is some huge pickerel in that end of the lake. Some big pike to as well as hybrid pickerel/pike.
  2. Participation that's why. I see that I am not welcome. I will not be posting here anymore. Have fun. Catch fish. Good luck.
  3. Keep it NH only that's fine but calling me out on the biggest fish I ever caught and worked very hard to get that is insulting and bs. Like I said you want to see the video and the pictures you let me know
  4. That's the spirit ! Go get her ! You better be fishing the southern end of the lake. A friend of mine got an 8-5 on southern champlain last year.
  5. It does say any luck in southern NH. I was invited to participate on this thread from other guys that frequent it, Shane, Jiitterbugger, Nashua Nev, unh bass amongst others. Until very recently I did not see you regularly participating in this thread. If you care to look back on this thread you can see that I have been a very active participant. I have had the pleasure of meeting and competing against some of the participants of this thread. I have been more then forth coming when members that frequent this thread have messaged me with questions. I am actually supposed to be fishing with Shane this weekend. He wanted to come to Maine and target big fish. Jitterbugger started a similar monthly competition that was called "who wants in" check it out. We started it last fall and it was quite fun. It ended this past august. You want to keep it NH then that's fine. In reality all the fish I catch are less then 2 hours from southern NH, I fish in Southern Maine. If you want to call me out on the 9-1, if you don't believe me, believe that I caught a 9-1 then like I said I will gladly send you the video and the pictures.
  6. NH only ? Lame I have a video of the 9-1 on a scale. PM me your address and I will send it to you. I also have some pics of it on a measuring board. It was on here last fall when I caught it.
  7. I will play along. All my fish will be Maine bass. How do I date stamp a picture ? Hopefully will get a couple 7s before ice up. Last year my biggest fish were caught in late Oct and early Nov. Biggest fish I ever got was caught last year in Nov, a 9 lb 1 oz largemouth.
  8. you get a girth and length of that sea beast ?
  9. I am putting in the effort. I have 100 % confidence in the lures I fish. I have locations figured out where the biggest bass of the lake hang out. I have been broken off way to many times in the lunker lakes I frequent in Maine. Way to many in the exact same spots I have caught 8 plus pounders. I have hooked into fish that the only thing I could do was hold on and lost them. Peeling drag like a tarpon. Broken line. Wrapped in a log 10 feet down seems to be the one that gets me the most. I am sure there are 10 lbers in those lakes. Who knows maybe I have hooked one and lost it ? Perhaps that 10 lber was on that spot I was fishing but didn't want to bite that day ? The more I go the better my chances are of getting one. I will fish those lakes until the day I die in pursuit of a 10 lb plus bass form Maine. State records get broken from time to time. Why not on the very next cast ?
  10. It is all relative. Where you live. The size of fish your targeting. The lake your fishing. I like to target big bass. It is what I live for. I fish a few select waters in my home state of Maine. In Maine a 5 lber is a big bass, a lunker. This year I have fished my favorite big bass waters in Maine 22 times and have caught 46 largemouth bigger then 5 lbs, including 10 over 6 and 2 over 7. I go there to specifically target big bass. The numbers are good as well. Usually catch between 20-30 bass each day. I would call anything over 8 a fish of a lifetime. I know very few people in Maine who have caught 8 lb plus fish.
  11. Every time I go fishing I plan on catching a personal best. I use lures that I have complete confidence in and that have caught big bass.
  12. Some very nice looking fish. I think with bass and weight it is all about the girth. The longest bass I have caught was 25 1/4 inches. It was very very skinny and weighed in at 8 lbs 10 oz. I wish it had some girth. Usually when I get a 23 inch fish it is right around 7 lbs. Earlier this year I got a 23 1/2 inch bass that was so thin. I am sure it was sick. It weighed 5 lbs 4 oz. Last fall the 9 lb 1 oz fish I caught was 23 3/4 inches with a 19 1/2 girth. Its all about the girth
  13. Looks like that thing has some girth.
  14. That thing is huge. I wouldn't mind catching that fish. Not really New England though. One heck of a north east bass. Fish of a lifetime.
  15. 8s and 9s are huge huge bass. 10 lbers though seem almost mythical. True 10 lbers, weighed, measured, no guestimation allowed.
  16. I think every year there are 8s and even 9s caught but very very very few of them. I got a 9-1 last fall and that thing was huge. Last year there was a 9-2 caught in Sebago Lake in Maine. Weighed on a tournament scale. Back in 1998 there was a 9 lb 9 oz weighed in at a club tournament on Kezar Lake. A couple years ago there were 2 9 lbers weighed in during the same tournament on Long Lake. I couldn't imagine getting a 9 lber in a tourney and not getting lunker. I was hoping someone lurking on here had caught one over 10 in New England. I know they are out there....
  17. I was wondering if anyone on here has a picture of a largemouth bass over 10 lbs caught from New England.
  18. A speedbead said earlier, fish your comfort zone. Fish lures you have confidence in. Big bass can be caught on just about any lure. Some lures when used effectively by skilled anglers tend to catch bigger bass. I like to target bigger bass. That being said given time of year, weather condition available forage, etc, I have caught big bass over 7 lbs weighed on a verified scale with an assortment of lures. 3/8 ounce white spinnerbait 1/2 ounce chompers brush jig in brown and orange with a crawdad pork trailer 1/2 ounce chompers brush jig with a bama craw rage crae Kvd 2.5 chartreuse black back Kvd 1.5 chartreuse black back live target craw squarebill 5 inch black senko 5 inch # 297 senko 5/16 ounce black Stanley jig with a black pork trailer The fish over 8 lbs I have caught : 8-1, 8-3 on crankbaits 8-9, 8-10 on senkos 8-5 on a jig Biggest fish I have caught was a 9-1 on a jig Jigs have accounted for more bass for me over 5 lbs then any other bait and catch them as long as the ice isn't too thick for my boat to break through. I recently invested in some swimbaits. Working on getting confidence in them.
  19. Cavitrons work well. The best producing buzzbait I own are fleck buzzbaits. They are incredibly hard to find. I am pretty sure they aren't made anymore. When I called up the guy that made them he said he was going out of business. He said he couldn't compete with the big name stores anymore. I bought the last 6 that he made. The are 1/2 ounce white blade and white skirt. It has a three wing blade made out plastic. The plastic blade lets me fish it very very slow and makes a distinctly different sound then the metal bladed buzzbaits that are so popular today. It catches big fish day or night.
  20. Getting skunked is not allowed. It has been years since I have been skunked. Even when I am using my boat as an ice breaker in the fall I can still get a few bites on a jig or silver buddy. In the early early spring when the lakes are still half frozen the jig and suspended jerkbait produce. Getting skunked just isn't allowed. Then again if I am going fishing I am fishing atleast 5 or 6 hours. Most of the time I am fishing 8-10 hour days which gives me plenty of time not to get skunked.
  21. The last couple times they have been on deep isolated offshore structure and they have been shallow as well. The last time out the horny toad caught 3 over 4 lbs in less then 3 feet of water the biggest being 4 lbs 10 oz. Off shore structure has been producing for bigger fish as well. I have been seeing water temps around 62-64 degrees.
  22. Many of the lakes in central Maine are far from clear. The Belgrade lakes region where MLF just was has a lot of muddy water.
  23. Fishing yesterday was a grind. The fish in the lake my friend Brandon and I were fishing weren't very active at all. We did catch a few topwater fish on horny toads and frogs. The biggest fish came off of isolated off shore structure. We landed 18 bass for the day. Biggest were 4-12, 4-9, 3-14, 2-12 smallie and 2-12 largemouth. The wind and white caps were tough to deal with. Heading back out again today. Its much colder today and windy. Not a cloud in the sky. Not ideal conditions but you cant catch em if you don't go.
  24. Good luck tomorrow Bob. I think I am going out tomorrow as well.
  25. 3000 LMB since ice out ? Very Impressive. Catching 500 bass month. Wow. You keep a fishing journal ? How many times a month were you fishing ? Impressive season.
